I am in diesel heaven!!!!! Thanks for this, it reawakens my childhood train rides. Every summer we traveled to England from Switzerland to see my grandparents in Lyme Regis. We took the train from Woking to Axminster. I loved every minute of that ride .
A time of transition. They had air brakes from new, but still had vacuum as well, the last main line passenger class to be so fitted. They were also ETH only, no steam heat, which most previous classes had.
As a kid who grew up in the early 80's watching and sometimes cabbing class 50's ( riding in the cab as the loco ran around the racecourse special trains at Newbury ) this short video took me back. Thanks for sharing and all the hard work you guys put into keeping the 50's alive. I must visit one day. Cheers. Would love to see longer videos and more insight.
50035 one of our local three class 50s ARK ROYAL looking her very best, always a pleasure to ride behind that one, Great job on the restore by the lads, Nice one guys,.
brilliant just brilliant , sound quality perfect love to see more clips with the same emphasis and energy and such a beautiful "mis à place" showing what counts
Grew up with the sight of these blasting through my local station till I was 9 years old then twas like over night they had disappeared from t mainline
They were beautiful things. Used to watch them coming up to New Street - 50010 Monarch was always the one to look out for. Sometimes a double header, they used to say it had a 50-50 chance of getting there ;-)
Basically, if the engine is lazy to start, or cold, or sometimes if the batteries aren't too clever, you can give them a bit of a helping hand by pushing on the fuel rack. It forces a bit more fuel into the cylinders.
Why do so many men always have their heads out the passenger car windows in England? Is it because they eat a lot of bangers and cabbage; just wondering.
Wow, the sound of the turbo's and the generator - what a treat to see inside of that while running - Thank you
Phwoar! That’s one gorgeous loco, inside and out! The 50s really do deserve the love they get!
That gargantuan V16 really is something else - 37s and 50s my two favourite diesel locos.😁
I do miss the sound of these old girls roaring through the night! Great to hear a Hoover again! 😃

Great vid, love hearing the engine loading up as the Locomotive gets moving. Thanks for sharing.
Nice one. Love the 'non standard kit ' .
No wonder my dad was deaf, I said 'Deaf ' lol
He was a driver at Shrewsbury
Thanks for posting this.

I do like to see the insides of Loco`s and the dials and what they do, so often ignored. Thank you for this.
I spent some time maintaining V24 Caterpillar turbo diesels but they sounded NOTHING like these beauties thanks for sharing.
This was my favourite class of loco
same here

Nice first attempt at showing the Hoovers insides. Hopefully one day our (Devon Diesel Society) loco D402 will sound as sweet. Brilliant.

Excellent superb bit of film that!

It always worried me walking through one of these when powered up.
Great video mate! I've sat in that loco 50035 and went into the engine room! And I have the Hornby model...Jordan

Looking good Nice to see the Ark going again
Gor-geous!! Hats off to you guys!
Fantastic footage!
Very good and interesting.
It appears to be more quiet inside than out. Also less oil haze/smoke :)
Trust me... it isn't!
It’s a Hoover!!
This is really great.
awesome video...
What a beast.
Great vid! Thanks for this.
Great stuff thanks for shearing.
He didn't "cut" you off
Class 37, 20 & this, British Alcos.
She's gorgeous 😍
Yes I remember it well as a Shunter at Penzance, and the Driver starting it on the “rack” sometimes. Can anyone explain what that means ?
A power station on train tracks.
very good
Did anyone else get goosebumps 2:52 and 3:15? just me?
Ab fab
Cant hear anything but the sound of someone hoovering lol
Clicked faster than a class 43.
0:42 what was that very old kind of looking crane wagon standing beside your locomotive?
Not sure. Some piece of pway kit I guess. This was filmed leaving Corfe Castle, so that will belong to Swanage Railway.
Brill
As a Shunter at Penzance for many years,i can remember Drivers starting 50s "on the rack" does anyone know what that means.

+Fifty Fund Thanks for the info, cheers chris.
@@fiftyfund6680 Thanks for replying, if the batteries were too flat, we’d have to drag the Loco out to the shed for repairs.
You must be incredibly psychologically robust to go into the engine compartment at all. I'd have a panic attack in seconds from claustrophobia.

wheres the radiator
They are at the other end (number 1 end).
+Fifty Fund i know that but you dont see it in this vid
Toilet?
it's got an ALCO chant and smokes like an Alco, are you sure it's EE? :-)
Pure magic❤
