Haha - it was a bit of fun for sure. I look forward to the day someone has to demolish my very first oven, they will find some hilarious messages written in the concrete. I recall writing a quote from Anchorman - "It's so hot! Milk was a bad choice!"
My wife and I are contemplating buying your precast P85 pizza oven and we love the fact that you are so involved with TH-cam videos to take the purchase to the next level. Excellent, thank you!
Totally buying their oven, best I found yet for the price and quality. Plus he personally called me to answer my questions in relation to climate wear and tear. Once I put up my pavilion next comes a Melbourne (firesmith in us) oven!
Let's say I do not want to drill into my base (since I used standard bricks to build and won't render over). Could I simply build a frame and support it with legs on the outside/inside as opposed to drilling into the brick?
Absolutely, it's more fiddly but it could work. The hard part would be preventing the external side forms from bowing outwards from the pressure of the wet concrete
Rather than oil a plywood slab is it possible to put a thin layer of plastic between the ply and concrete? Any issues with that? I imagine it might help the curing process too?
Hi Lewis, you can certainly do that but you might find you get a lot of crinkles in the finished surface as the plastic tends to move around as the concrete is poured
I might have missed it but what are those smaller screws that you use to attach the formply across the diagonal section (i.e. the smaller screws that go into the grain of the formply laying flat)?
Great build! Definitely waay overkilled in every possible aspect, the silicone on those tiny edges just shows how everything has been thought of. (Probably it doesn't drip without it)

I love your presetations and great personal touches, humor.
45:22 - That time capsule idea is an amazing idea.

Awesome video guys, thanks! Really practical and just the right amount of detail for me. You’ve got a confidence inspiring way of explaining things.
Why thank you Joel, that's awfully nice of you to say!
Man creates Time Capsule because of scary spiders. Great informative video. Cannot wait to be able to order MY D105!
HAHAHA - spiders are definitely the WORST.
Love this guy's videos. Unfortunately can't afford his amazing ovens, but using his expertise to hopefully build my own 😊
Thankyou! So glad that we could be of help!

I think those were just standard phillips head wood screws, nothing too fancy.
@@TheFireBrickCo thank you!
16 penny nail with some tie wire is whats used to anchor stuff in comercial concrete
Yes! Just like the two nail method (only probably cheaper!)
Brill video. Unfortunately now I know where to get that valuable water, i will try to forget… 😂
Hahahaha STAY AWAY FROM MY PRECIOUS STASH OF WATER 🤣🤣🤣

You're welcome!
I put my old ID in the back hole
Clever!
39mm plus the width of the blade, so maybe 41mm? 😉
Great videos by the way - you present very well! I can't wait until I can afford to build an oven!!
HAHA - I knew I was going to get some flack about that :)
Not that it matters, but since you made a point about the 39mm, I couldn't help myself 😁
😂👍
