Last year (2023), these were my 5 most used lenses for my Fuji X-Pro2:
    1. 16-55mm f/2.8 Fujinon
    2. 23mm f/2 Fujinon
    3. 56mm f/1.2 Fujinon
    4. 12mm f/2.8 Zeiss
    5. 50-140mm f/2.8 Fujinon

I had an awesome 2023 pretty much using only a Fuji 16-55mm (24-84mm full frame equivalent) f2.8 on my Fuji X-T5. I had A LOT of free daytime (as I was between jobs for months) so I didn't need something that's better in low light.
Currently rockin' the Fuji 33mm f1.4 in this gloomy British winter, trying to get good with its classic 50mm equivalent vibe. In my bag I then usually just have the little Fuji 18mm f2.0 lens, which feels cheap and has a mildly clunky autofocus, but is soooooo light at only 116g and takes rather good pics.

You should look at the Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8. It’s so small and can cover more than your Viltrox 13mm f/1.4. Is f/1.4 important at wide? Usually not.

What abut telephoto lenses? I had the Fuji 200-400 but was way too heavy so I sold it. I have the Fujifilm XT4 camera. Also have 16-55 red badge lens, the 56 lens and the 10-24 lens. Thinking of selling the 10-24. What would you suggest for a telephoto to go with the 56 and the 16-55? thank you in advance. This is not my picture - it is my daughter - couldn't get mine to work. Hmm

Did you consider the XF 50mm F2 as an alternative to Sigma 56mm? The 50mm is a great lens, great price and fast autofocus and micro contrast. Also more compact, a native Fuji glass so 100% compatible with Fuji body.

Love that lens. I do have the Sigma on my Sony and Panasonic G9 so that's definitely good, but for the Fuji id probably stick with the Fuji lens.

When you talk about these lenses, can you designate whether they are Auto Focus or not?

What do you think about the Tamron 17-70 f2.8 for Fuji? I always thought it would be the perfect beginner lens as it has every focal length you need. You would´nt have to buy 2 or 3 lenses to cover up all the focal lenghts in the end for probably more money.

The XF 18-55 is a fantastic lens but the 2 copies I’ve owned managed to fill up with dust. It’s the same with the 55-200 and the Mk1 10-24. Just because they don’t have proper weather sealing doesn’t mean dust should have such an easy time getting inside the lens. It totally destroys their resale value. I have 40-50 year old Nikon and Olympus lenses without so much as a single spec of dust. Fuji quoted me £700 to clean them. Not good enough.

Hey Jay! Great video once again. I’m curious to know your opinion on another lens Sigma makes, that I haven’t seen anyone else discuss. What’s your opinion on the Sigma 18-50 native Fuji lens in comparison to the 18-35? Everyone talks about how great the Sigma 18-35 is, however why haven’t they made it native? And is the 18-50, being a native lens, better? Specifically, I’m interested only in the video capabilities. This would actually be a great video for someone to make, a shootout between the two, with emphasis primarily on their video abilities. Thanks and cheers…

    • @Jay_Ducker
      @Jay_Ducker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah great idea for a video. I haven't considered the 18-50 tbh. I already have the 18-55 fuji kit lens so i guess thats why. I think the 18-35 is a popular lens because of its low aperture and the sigma 18-50 is only at f/2.8. A native 18-35 for Fuji would be sweet and I for one, would buy one!

I bought the 27mm 2.8 and it's a pretty crappy lens. Reminds me of the action of a Canon kit lens from 2010. It's hard to focus and it's hard to track.
In the beginning, my most useful lens was the 16-55 2.8. But her weight reduced my desire to leave the house with a camera. So I recently bought a Sigma lens. 23mm 1.4. It's very fast, it tracks relatively well and it sits perfectly on the mount. It's currently my number one lens. Sigma really outdid themselves
because the build quality of the lens does not fall short of the Fuji lenses, even though it is not weatherproof
