    Really good technique. Always enjoy the content. Alpine makes quality stuff. It's just so frustrating that they don't seem capable of making combat posed figures for people who build dioramas. Alpine figures are great if you're putting on a das Wehrmacht fashion show.

    Always amazed at the details you get on your figures with all the color combos, not to mention a bit envious :-) Good brushes and paints do make the difference.

    Hey Hank looking good I done ceramic painting in the past and had a lot of luck with those then they fell out of popularity lol. Now back into the hobbies at 51 I do enjoy this part of the Hobby and look to do bigger figures thanks for the video. Thomas over at the Model Hobbyist

    Hey man, great videos! Actually planning to use these to kick off my very first model ever-- some German infantry from Master Box-- and I'm definitely going to go and purchase from the links to materials in this video and your "faces made easy" description. One question-- what cement do you use to bond pieces? I was looking at Tamiya's extra thin cement on Amazon, but not sure what the best brand to use is. Recommendations? What do you use?

    Not many people put primer on with a brush, but do you think you could do a tutorial on using primer with a brush instead of an airbrush thanks! Awesome video.

    Great tutorial. I've just began building models again, but have not attempted to paint figures. Would the same techniques be successful with the included figures in many of the kits available? Or is painting resin figures its own special technique?

    Master Models ( of Poland ) do a much more accurate , 1/35 scale resin MG 42 with Hollow Metal Barrel

    Awesome! Love the finished work. I’m new to painting so am a little confused with the zenithal priming in this process. The subsequent color paint is so opaque and seem to have covered up the light and shadow of the zenithal layer. I assume it was intentional and glazing method was only on the face? I thought glazing would look more transparent if it was also done on the uniform? The later wash layer really made a big difference and brought out the details. Thank you for the awesome demonstration video!

    a never disappointing excellent tutorial on straight forward painting, besides my love for WW11 figures I also love French and British tin Napoleonic figures about 54mm scale, I think I like the bright colors LOL, would the same rules and procedures apply ?

    I hope that you eventually do a 1980's era camouflaged us figure??? I was in during the 80's and I really don't see hardly any good Infantry figures that I would want to build to be honest...

    Hi Hank. Great videos. Rediscovering scale modelling after many years. Just watching this video as about to paint the figures from the Tamiya SAS jeep kit and hoping to use your techniques.
    When painting the different colour layers on the faces, do you allow each layer to dry before the next or does the blending of the layers require the layers to be wet. Thanks in advance.

    When glazing, how many coats do you do for each item? Is it enough to convey the colour but still show the black and satin white base coat below for the contrast?

      Hi there - I just dilute these acrylic paints with a little bit of water. It varies depending on the consistency of the paint, but you should be able to experiment until you find something that works well for you - that's the beauty of acrylics! Thanks for watching 👍

    Good Morning, I love your videos and have learned a lot. I recently started doing Figures and really like it. I did my First clear coat, then wash. It made my figures very dark. I don't know what I did wrong. also my thinner is not like water. I'm thinking I should have to thin the wash also and get a different thinner but I don't see in any of your details what washes and thinner your using.

    Hey am I supposed to be cutting the mig wash with water? I’ve completely ruined two miniatures and don’t want to try again till I can do this properly

      Howdy! I've not used mig myself, but if it is an enamel based wash, you may have to use mineral spirits (or in England, white spirits as I am led to believe.) Double check, but that is what I have done with similar products myself. I hope this helps!

    If I wanted to do a clay wash and a pin wash for weathering, which should I do first?

      I would do the clay wash first & then apply another layer of gloss varnish before moving on to the pin wash - the two will interact with each other unless separated by a varnish coat 👍

    Hi quick question, ive attemped to paint my soldiers like you with the wooden block & screw, but carnt seem to get the figure to stick to the screw, is there a special glue you use, thanks 😊

      Sure! I use Krazy Glue (superglue), but any cyanoacrylate glue should get the job done. Sometimes I have to hold the figure in place a little longer than other times for the glue to cure fully. Also, sanding the screw & figures foot down a little bit can help with adhesion. Happy painting! 👍

    How long do you recommend to wait between color layers on face and hands using the Vallejo?

      Vallejo dries very quickly. Once any gloss has dried out its ready to paint over. Generally only takes a few minutes.

      Just a minute or so should be enough! You should be able to see that the color has dried completely before moving on to the next layer 👍

      Until its dried. Standard stuff.

      Just a minute or so! Once it's dry enough that your brush won't affect the layers you've already put down, you will be good to continue 👍

    Why a gloss varnish? Why not just use a matte?

      I think gloss is more smooth so it flows better
