Everything is so well told that even without knowing English, I was able to master the rules. Thank you very much!

This looks like a really fun game. I’m getting a Concordia vibe from your video. And I love me some Concordia. Nice crown by the way. Very appropriate.

It's very Concordia in that you play a single card on your turn. But the rest is very NOT Concordia. i don't own very many rondel games, and i don't think i own any rondel examplars (just outliers), so it's hard for me to do a this-meets-that for you.

This looks like a game I would enjoy quite a bit.

Thank goodness you made this video.
Just bought CoE and was struggling with the rules.
Some playthrough videos are made by people who assume too much and the pace is ridiculous.
    So, a big thank you.
I'm sure I'll have questions once I get going and the strategy is...well I haven't got one, yet.

Thanks Ryan! This is definitely an underrated gem and a how to play video was sorely needed.

I just bought the game a week ago! I got the French edition on sale for about 15 euros new, which was a steal. The only text you need to understand are the 'start of', 'this' and 'end of' round on the event cards.
I've only played the game solo so far, about five times trying both the one off and the campaign. So far I've been enjoying it a lot! The game seems rather overlooked for some reason, despite how good it is.
I noticed I have played the solo mode with all the palace and cathedral tiles set to 1 at the start, so I gotta fix that and see how it affects my scorings. Great video, I will be using this when introducing the game to my friends.

You got the variant with the 9 card hand wrong. You play the first round with all 9 cards in hands and discard the 3 cards after each round. So in round 2 you have 6 cards to choose from.
After round 3 you pick up all the 9 cards and have the full selection for the round 4 and in round 5 you are down to 6 cards again. No matter how you play the game you see each card twice in the game.

Played this years ago when it first released. I enjoyed it but did not feel a strong desire to play it again. Last weekend Bliss had it on sale for $21 and I thought "yeah I like it enough for that price!" XD

@@NightsAroundaTable I thought so! Reg. price I think was $57. Blackout Hong Kong is on sale for $29.99 marked down from $76, but I already picked that one up 2nd hand a month ago. :) None of the others in the sale caught my eye. I noticed when I looked again yesterday that he put a bunch of Marvel Champion stuff in it including the base game.

@@ShelleyDanielle Nae enjoy Marvel Champions. And i've heard mixed things about Blackout Hong Kong. i have some Christmas money to burn at Bliss thanks to my generous patrons, and am really stewing over what to get.

@@NightsAroundaTable My friend has Marvel and I've played it a few times but it pales for me in comparison to the rich thematic experience I get from AH:LCG (closing in on 300 plays). I played Marvel when it released and I was like "Where's the story?? why do I have to beat this guy up twice? what's the purpose??" XD
I've not played my copy of BOHK yet so I can't help you, but a few of my friends enjoy it. For $30..it's almost worthy a buy before trying it first. hehe

@@NightsAroundaTable Rajas of the Ganges The Dice Charmers is a fun combo-licous Roll and Write, surprised at how much I enjoy it! I also really enjoy my plays of Bonfire. Not the typical Feld in that it's a huge point salad, most points are gained at the end versus all over during the game. This from someone who is not really a Feld fan. Excavation Earth is also another good one IMO.

Great explanation! Except for the bit where you tried to explain you can do your actions and bonus actions in any order, I think you made that sound a bit more difficult than it actually is. But great teaching, nonetheless.

    • @NightsAroundaTable
      @NightsAroundaTable  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you! i was just trying to be explicit about where you can't split the action (moving/doing the thing on the space), because otherwise, it can get even more confusing once you introduce the 1 boot and "activate any city space" cards. We struggled with that on our first play, and we had to hit BGG to read forums for clarification.

@@NightsAroundaTable I deleted my previous comment because now I saw this at the bottom of all the comments. I think the issue was that you lumped play card in with move and do the thing when that's not the case and this caused me a few minutes of re-reading the pertinent areas of the rules and rewatching your video. Play card is simply the first thing you do on every turn. This determines the card action and movement value available to you. You then do card action, move/do the thing, and each bonus action in any order you want. Part of the reason it was confusing is how can you do the card action first if you haven't played the card yet?
Anyway, other than that the video was very well done and clear.

The initially lower score isn't the population, it's actually your popularity.
