My Steering wheel suddenly started to become hard on Park and Neutral but turns normally on Driive and Reverse gear. When that happens, the PS light illuminates and goes off when i engage the Drive or Reverse gear. Any idea on what i should do to get it sorted? Its a 2006 Toyota Crown.
That's interesting, I didn't know the Strain Wave Gearing (otherwise known as the Harmonic Drive) was used in some power steering mechanisms. I used to work for the company, and we used Harmonic Drives for example to power tank like robots that would crawl inside nuclear reactors and stick to the ceiling with magnets! :D en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strain_wave_gearing
It reverts to manual steering of course, its a basic safety requirement. The first systems gets harder to turn but it works like regular manual steering, BMW system requiring less force, but with more turns lock to lock, Audi system i dont know, but probably the same as BMW less force, more turns
6 turns lock to lock in an emergency/skid is going to make me wreck the car in a skid heck one might as well takes hand off the wheel and slap him self for buying the car dumbest thing ever in the world of steering un-improvements ill never own a car with this crap and if i do it will be removed asap...for example a steering [quickener] is used in rally racing to help novice driver not wreck in a skid the exact opposite of this bs
Very interesting... thank you for sharing. It’s interesting to see how different companies use different systems
this video has explained more in a couple of minutes than 2 semesters in engineering
jorge alan hhhh very difficult to normal people
FUCK NO
Except this is very high level and presented with no equations. Of course it's digestible.

What if the electric motor fails? Does it automatically fall back to manual steering? Or it will stuck completely?

Cool, I Just wanted to see if why its getting replaced by chris fix
hello sir, i have question power steering motor is same in left and right hand drive vehicle ??
The motor itself, probably yes. But the whole column changes, as the pinion is in different place.
Why did I have to replace the rack and pinion, esp module on my 2016 charger
Thanks for video
