The color coding is not correct in the instructions if you are building the Hideout Truck version, I have researched the Tyrone Malone trucks for some years now and know how it should look.
The Detroit Diesel 8V-92 engine should be Alpine Green...not white as told by the instructions, Kenworth stopped with white engines 1975, some say silver but the Silver 92 Series Detroit Diesel 8V-92 did not arrive on the market until 1982 and this kit is originally from 1979 and the Hideout Truck was a 1978 model year so it can't have been silver from the very beginning.
The frame on the Hideout Truck should be white...not black as the instructions say.
The interior should be medium dark speckled blue...not black.
This doesn't matter for your build as you didn't build it as the Hideout Truck, but if you do I wanted to share the correct information.

About two years ago, I put every unopened AMT kit on eBay and unloaded them. I still have a few and will likely build them, but before I do, I'll tackle kits by Aoshima, Fujii, Hasegawa. Italeri, Revell (North America and Germany), Moebius, and my favorite, Tamiya. These kits are well-engineered, the parts fit, the parts are numbered, the paint suggestions are called out ... how AMT gets away with the substandard suff they've been making is beyond me. Yes, you can build good AMT models, but the process will drive you nuts.

hey amt did not do a lot of numbers and colors because when they first came out we all had one of these truck setting next to our house and could just walk over and look at what we wanted.
