Very nice work Allan. I've always wanted to go to Italy. I would just spend all day and everyday riding around on my bicycle and only stopping to draw the people and the landscapes. And of course I'd occasionally stop for food and to talk to the beautiful Italian women.
Very impressive work, beautifully drawn. Love the character the sketch painting shows off. I have the same water brush and just full on adore i but i do wish they would also make these kind of brushes in more variable styles and sizes.
Thanks for the good comments. The pen is a Rotring Artpen - extra fine nib, the brush is a Pentel Aquabrush and the music is Mozart's Marriage of Figaro.
Thanks, I thought that would be the case (that absorbent papers wouldn't work as well). Anyways, your sketch really inspired me to start experimenting with fountain pens and waterbrushes. I really appreciate that you shared it.
Hi Andrea There can be a little experimenting to find the right paper and ink. I use water soluble ink cartridges in my Rotring art pen. It can be a little trial and error to find the right ones. 2. Not all papers work, again it is trial and error. Most work so just try some others. Hope this helps and good luck Allan
It is part of the Rotring Calligraphy Art Pen set, but I'm not sure what you mean by "pressure". It works like a normal cartridge fountain pen but I do use a soft touch. I use the fine and extra fine, not the thicker nibs that are available in the range.
That looks great and really inspiring! I just got a pentel water brush to try with some of my ink sketches (going to be baby steps for me though!!). Are you adding any ink to the brush at all, or is all the shading purely from the water moving the ink? Cheers:)
It's amazing! That's a beautiful gift you have, sir. A question... I have Rotring Artpens, but when I use a brush after sketching to sort give it shades and that watercolor effect, the ink doesn't spread. Is it the ink or maybe the kind of paper I use? I read you use the Daler Rowney Sketchbook, but we don't find that here in Peru, do you know any other brand that works?
It's always strange to hear people wanting to go to Venice...it may be I've gone there so many times that I'm fed up with it, but it's not so different from other cities like Padova or Verona, except for the canals and very very expensive food
Hi. Wonderful. I tried to get the same effect but the ink does not spread. Do you mix the water with some substance? Thank you very much for the reply.
Just been to your website, the address you supply above and that does take me to your home page no problem, however all of the links from that page are not working so I can't see your lesson bundles etc. to see how much they cost and what is available? Please let me know when that is fixed as I would like to browse what you have available on your website. Thank you.
It's not the water brush that's making those lines. It's the ink. I would love to know what ink this is. Does anybody have any idea what brand of ink does this?
DorothyFan1 That's a Rotring Art'Pen. I have one of those myself, but I'm not a big fan of it. It's just a basic fountain pen and it behaves like one, so don't expect the nib to be very flexible, 'cause it isn't. So it's not like a classic dip pen. Personally, I can get a bigger variety of lines out of a fineliner than I get out of the Art'Pen. As for the ink: Rotring makes black ink cartridges for the Art'Pen, but you can just as easily use Pelikan ink cartridges or another brand because (and I can't repeat this enough) it's nothing more than a classic fountain pen. The ink isn't even supposed to be used for washes.
nothing better then relaxing and drawing nature.
thank you sir for the video, looking forward to see more of your works!

Thank you Farook
I used a Daler Rowney Sketchbook. Some papers work and some don't depending on how they are made. It's hard to tell without trying them out.
you have earned my sub
Great picture
Hi,
Yes it is a Rotring drawing pen with Black ink cartridge and a Pentel waterbrush to wash down the ink lines

Great work, you are very inspiring.
Is this special ink or would Indian ink or another brand of ink do this using the water brush?

This was awsome I just would like to know what kind of pen this is
Is the paper type important to achieve this effect? What kind of sketchbook did you use?

+Katou Yuui Thank you:)

DorothyFan1 I think he's using a rotring art pen which comes with Rotring watersoluble ink..
Thanks for the information. I've placed this on my wish list for purchase. I have to check with my local art dealership to see if they can get this.
