I can just imagine how happy the owners must have been on the day they spent their first night here, so long ago. Beautiful scroll work on the front porch pillars. Wish I could go back in time when this was new, to see the happy family that called this home.
These types of old farm houses are always more interesting to me then newer abandoned houses. I always wonder what life was like for the people or person that lived there.
That's the kind of thing I think of when I see old places. Every one of them has a story of those that came and went before. I get sentimental not even knowing who they were.
Amazing what was still in that house. You have changed the way I think about these old houses when I see them now. Even if they are in bad shape outside they still can have treasures that tell their stories inside. Awesome explore as always. Thanks for sharing. ❤️
Agreed this one felt especially sad with the way everything had been moved from upstairs to the lower level as if they couldn’t make it up the stairs anymore, thank you very much for watching!
It's sad such a large house had to have a large family at one time and it appears there was only an old man left. It's also sad it didn't have to be in this condition with just a little care and a good roof. We see so much abandonment of home's and farm's makes me think of society in general that family values are disappearing! Thanks kappy great find as always!
Rural areas are emptying out to urban areas. Find abandoned homes everywhere in isolated places in rural areas, no jobs for young folks, they leave. Read "Broken Heartland, The Rise of America's Rural Ghetto". I've been watching this trend for decades now and noticing the increasing number of grand old homes in my area fall into decay as the owners age on fixed incomes. Plus retrofitting/heating older homes, especially neglected ones, can be very expensive.
@@williebeamish5879 I know I to have watched it for decades and now we're watching cities filled with thousands and people living on the street's . Not only is it sad but senseless!
I believe this home can be fix up. Replace the roof and board up the house. One year had the wiring all gone through. Another year do all the plumbing. Another year or two had the furnace replace the hot water tank. And do a little bit of the painting and wallpapering and cosmetic on the inside and out. Then it's ready for your retirement home. I personally think it's a sin that place like this go to pot.
So sad but yet so beautiful. The old curtains look like they date from the 50’s and the old tv! At my age, I would consider them antiques. Lol! Thanks Kappy for sharing another wonderful find. Can’t wait for the next one. Wishing you a very blessed and wonderful day! 😊
The old man may have been very lonely and it's the vibes left behind from him that gives the place a sad feeling. The fan on the kitchen table is probably still good it just needs cleaned and oiled. Thank you for the video Kappy.
Sometimes I get really sad seeing an old granny's house going to hell!! all the nice stuff still in it!! Why don't the kids, if they don't want it at least sell it!!! it's in beautiful condition!!! Vandals have broken a window or two, but that will let the rain in, and it's destruction will begin!!!
David Brown He may well have been lonely, but that enchanting view out the windows -that beautiful rural setting would have soothed me with solace. There are places where solitude trumps loneliness. This looks like one of those kind of places.
Still looks good from the front. N the front yard has been mowed. Just a waste if a once beautiful how one. You keep finding them Kappy n I keep loving them. Stay safe out there. God bless
What a great house. You put so much focus and compassion into your explorations. It’s so sad to see how this house decayed so much. Thank you for sharing this video.
What a great old farmhouse, so sad there was no one to keep it up. I didn't see a bathroom, even though there was a sink in the kitchen. Good video. Thanks, Kappy
Wow great observation!! I checked every room I wonder if it was never updated to have a bathroom, the back portion was very overgrown but there definitely could’ve been a outhouse thank you for watching!!
As a new subscriber I can't tell you how thrilled and relieved I am to discover a community of people who appreciate abandoned historic homes as much as I do. When I saw this house it took my breath away, it greatly resembles a very old house I once owned in WV. My soul remains there. Thanks so much for the memories!
What an interesting place! It looks like it was a great home at one point. Simple but beautiful. It does seem sad thinking about an elderly man alone in this house.
Pink must either have been a popular color for bedrooms back then or really cheap!!!! I like the way they put the shelf around the chimney, nice way to give it a purpose instead of it just using up space...think I’ll do that in my house!
What a neat old house and a wonderfull view !! So sad these are all left to rot ! Really wish it could be saved ! Looks so peaceful to sit on the porch and look at those mountains ! So much life and history here such a shame to see it sit and rot ! Great video. Thank you for documenting it before it was gone !

Nice old house! Someone mowed the yard, but the trees on the sides and back of the house are overgrown. Such a beautiful view out of the upstairs window. The 2 braided rugs that were rolled up in the bedroom upstairs look huge and are worth a lot of money! Thanks for showing us this once beautiful home!!

What beautiful country. And what a sad house. The lack of a woman's touch, at least in its recent(?) past, made me think the old man who lived there was the last of his family and probably always single so when he passed, there was just no one left to care about one old country house or its sparse contents. It certainly appeared to be an *alone* existence; one just hopes it wasn’t a lonely existence. Thank you, Kappy, for this exploration.
It’s interesting to note that I didn’t see a bathroom or notice a place where one had been. It must have been in one of those doors by the staircase. I also didn’t notice an outhouse outside either.
