    Queen Aliya Mustafina! The best ever in Uneven Bars!

    I almost started bawling when I saw Becky. She deserved to be in Tokyo, British gymnastics did her dirty this time, and that too just after everything she's been through.

      They made a decision based on the best chance to get a team bronze and it paid off!!!! Sometimes people miss out, happens all the time!

      @@laurawhelan2639 Becky has solid bars, she has experience and is a great team leader, the team qualified for the Olympics under her leadership, she has a solid beam and is good on floor. Becky had stopped training all around for a chance to go as a specialist, but that didn't work out due to the pandemic, and BG didn't wish to take specialist. If they knew it all along, they should've let her know, she would've trained for AA in that case. The Downie sisters along with the Gadirova twins would've been an awesome team, possibly even challenged for a silver. Ellie's vault would've medalled, however she was shaken after the death of her brother and couldn't continue. Becky showed tremendous strength by competing at the British trials so close after her loss, but her performance in the trials isn't likely to be the only reason she was rejected. She had spoken up about the abuse in British gymnastics prior to that, and quite possibly it was the reason she wasn't given the fair chance to make the team. She didn't miss out, she was robbed.

      @@laurawhelan2639 Becky would've been a part of the highest scoring team if you look at scores from trials. Furthermore, BG shut out her chance to qualify individually as a specialist when they took her to 2019 worlds where she helped the team qualify to Tokyo in the first place. In 2018 they didn't take her and the team didn't do well enough to qualify.

    Uneven bars is arguably the hardest event and they do it so well

      @@Ash_xoxo also being a gymnast beam is so much harder to be good at. The beam is so small and one wobble or if you don’t connect it’s a deduction. Bars is definitely a steep learning slope but it’s not as hard as beam

      @@YoDonutXD true, for me bars has never been easier than beam, beam I am better at for some reason. Bars is just tricky for me😂 but beam is really hard too

      I think it’s a matter of personal preference. Both of the events in question require control and concentration. Some athletes just cringe when it comes to bars, perhaps because it’s flightier than the other events.

      The judging in the team is different than the individual event finals. They tend to be more lenient in the team versus the event finals from what I have seen in the last Olympics cycles. I will definitely miss Aliya in Tokyo. :(

      But it was a different code of points and Nastia's routine (7.7 at the time) would be a mere 16.3 nowadays. Don't let yourself be impressed by the big numbers.

      @@goldwingedvic I wonder what would be Mustafina's score in her London 2012 routine, if the COP was the same in 2008?

    • @goldwingedvic
      @goldwingedvic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tineegonzales7365 don't think it would be so much higher, since she didn't have 10 elements which were a requirement under the 2006-2008 CoP. Plus, most of her connections were still valued at 0.2 in 2012, which wouldn't make a huge difference anyway.
