First Flight In The Cessna Citation 501 In Months! (My Girlfriend FLEW IT)

  • Today we finally fly the Cessna Citation 501sp for the first time in months! After the first huge service bill, the plane is ready to hit the skies again. We go for a low altitude class bravo "bay tour" above San Francisco at just 1500 feet! I also let my girlfriend fly the jet for the first time. Check out Pilot Institute (Get $30 off with this link): learn.pilotinstitute.com/a/af...
    Sasha was so excited to be at the controls on such a powerful plane. We fly to Reno for the air races with all 7 seats filled. Our girlfriends were definitely thrilled with this surprise jet ride! Even with it being a hot day with a good load of weight, the plane still jumped off the ground in under 1800 feet. This plane has a ton of performance for the money and is one of the best bang for the buck jets. We bought this jet in cash sight unseen and flew it home 1800 miles and I'm thrilled we did it!

    I am 70 years old and i would have the same reaction if I were invited to go right seat and take the controls of this aircraft, this is by far one of the best aviation channels ever on You Tube, onward and upward guys. Fly safe.

    So funny at 13:01 in the video. ATC "Are you navigating somewhere?" OWEN, "no, we are up here just having fun but now will behave & go direct"

    Owen's ability to manage workload and stay ahead of the airplane is an example to follow. I just finished watching the Piaggio vid on his channel, that as is is this video, is a tremendous example of single pilot workload management. Great job Owen, great video JR crew, keep it up!

      The issue flying a jet single pilot comes into play during periods of task saturation and even more so if you start throwing in malfunctions/system degradation or emergencies... Thats where having the second person is paramount to safe ops. Its also why we won't see single-pilot airliners within the next few decades.

    • @goodshipkaraboudjan
      @goodshipkaraboudjan 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BobbyGeneric145 flew King Airs, Metros, PC-12s etc all single pilot. The trick is quality of hours and training. Look at the RFDS, single pilot ops in the most challenging GA environment ever with a great safety record. Reason being - training standards and job requirements are much higher in Australia than the US, hence the E3 visa jobs.

    Best to check ahead for ramp fees. They are suddenly out of control at many airports for anything turbo jet. We paid $1100 in Kansas City for a 15 minute drop off. Unable to purchase fuel so got nailed for it.

    That was awesome! Thank you for highlighting Owen's cockpit flow and how he managed the workload in such a busy environment, that was useful for a lot of us pilots who might one day want to transition to high performance/turbine aircraft.

    Wow, did that bring back some great memories. In 1978, I was 19, a Freshman at Stanford and learning to fly at Palo Alto Airport. To practice radio procedures, I would fly tower-to-tower PAO-NUQ-SJC, land the 152 on SJC's massive runways (I think the numbers were longer than my plane), taxi back and SJC-NUQ-PAO. Great video!

  • @squalle83
    @squalle83 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    You guys missed the Cessna at your 10 o clock, on your left during your climb out. You almost had a crash there. There is no situational awareness in the cockpit. All you are worried about is camera, and every action you want to capture t. The guy on the copilot seat, have been watching your video, and you are always distracted everytime. When you seat on that right seat, you must concentrate, and not be everywhere. Driving your fast cars,is different and difficult when you are flying an airplane. Take correction.

    At my local airport French Valley Airport (F70) there is a 1959 F-4 phantom fighter jet and the old price was $134,000 but no one wants to buy it so the have you call for a price. The planes engines are both gone and the body of the plane is a little bit beaten up but not a crazy amount I don't know if you are interested in making a video about it but just letting you know.

    Dear Bros,
    Love to see the Cessna 501 Citation back in the air again and it’s really a beautiful aircraft. This time she flew by a beauty as well and I think Sascha can’t wait to get flying lessons. Females generally fly airplanes very concentrated so a landing by a female pilot is in general going very smoothly. A daughter of a friend of mine flies with an Airbus A330-200 from KLM-Air France and she often get compliments of the control towers by landing with her destinations.
