No more Grammy Award winning singing at your local BK anymore. I guess back then you had to go through an audition, like on American Idol, before they would hire you to work the counter. If you didn't make the cut, Simon would send you packing, advising you to apply at the Taco Bell down the street. No singing required over there.
Now your orders get saved to a screen that the people in the back see.. imagine how much harder it was back then to get the orders when you have them yell it out on a microphone
Those mics were fun as sh*t to grab on to when the employees went to fill your fountain drinks because all of the drink stuff was still behind the counter. Can't tell you how many drunken weekend nights as a teen I'd cup the mic with both hands and just be stupidly loud with whatever random thoughts were in my brain at the moment. Screaming orders at the drivethru and going baclwards through it was fun too.
