  • Daimler Truck is a leading OEM in the development of SAE Level 4 (L4) autonomous trucks with critical redundant safety systems. To commercialize autonomous trucks within this decade, Daimler Truck is following a dual-track strategy with two strong partners: Torc and Waymo.
In the past few years, engineers at Daimler Truck North America have successfully developed the first scalable autonomous truck platform with critical safety systems. Based on Freightliner’s industry-leading flagship truck, the Class 8 autonomous-ready Cascadia with redundant functions enables the deployment of autonomous trucking. This truck has been designed and developed with a second set of critical systems, such as steering and braking to meet Daimler Truck’s uncompromising safety standards.
With its independent subsidiary Torc Robotics, Daimler Truck is pushing ahead with the development of autonomous trucking in the United States. The companies have the longest autonomous driver technology and truck OEM partnership in the industry and have been safely and reliably testing a fleet of autonomous trucks on public roads in the U.S. on a daily basis.

People who cheer this on really need to consider the real-world implications it will have putting millions out of work. It might be trucking today but it could be your profession tomorrow. Be careful what you wish for with the AI/autonomous technology

As a long term employee of DTNA I can tell you this is by design. This Company has gradually adopted an enormous apathy towards its product, employees, and customers. They could care less.

Hello Daimler Trucks, my name is Stephen D James, and I am beginning a brand new organization that I hope will help the driver, more than what it is today. This Autonomous truck, seems to be the biggest concern of drivers, as to whether they would keep their jobs, or would they be made redundant? I know that over here in Southern Ontario, the Platooning Program has come to a stop, and I'd love to know more. I love technology and trucking and I believe to two can work together. I will be considering a business startup soon.
