All about jeep (part 10)..എന്താണ് CL Mahindra cj500di and cl500di(1991-1997)

But due to some technical issues cj500DE engine upgraded soon(water gasket issue) to direct injection system in 1991 named cj500DI.Only change was the engine
CJ500DI(1991 - 1993)
MDI2500A engine-2520cc
Max power: 40 bhp @ 2300rpm
Max torque:14 kgm @ 1400rpm
Mileage : 14-17 kmpl
Max speed: 70-80 kmph
*Later end of 1993 the mudgaurd got a new design
Indicator become larger orange one.
*Bayer blue colour was introduced.
*Mahindra lost technical collaboration with Jeep in 1994. CJ was registered trade mark of Jeep and Mahindra was not allowed to use it anymore. Hence CJ replaced with CL.
Hence the CJ era of mahindra jeeps came to and end.
Than with major changes cl series starts production
*Cl500DI*(1994-2002)
*No change with engine and gear box
*Front bumper got an extention
*Front mudgaurd got park light and turn indicators, earlier indicator portion got a black net
*head light get flatter
*diesel tank repositioned to the right rear portion
*now the bench seat got small seat on right. (Right hand type)
*wipper changed to right hand type
*new combination switch introduced.including viper controls
*3 point seat belt for driver only
*tail light is now a combination of brake light, turn indicator, park and reverse light (box shape)
*new pale grey colour introduced
On 1996
*Engine modified with recalibrated fuel pump to maintain emissions regulations and name MD2500B.but the engine spec remains the same
*Front seat got separated and driver seat can be moved back and forth only
*rear new type seat with more support introduced
*single lever transfer case introduced with 3 speed T 90 gear box
*new burgundy/maroon colour was introduced
*On the basis of seating capacity cl550(8 seater)also introduced
