For the brim of the first hat, an option I recommend is using a piece of denim instead of cardboard- this will allow the hat to be washed (either hand washed or machine washed) without the cardboard deteriorating (or getting smelly lol) 😊
@@ikoxun No worries! Two pieces of denim sewn together would be extra rigid and sturdy as well- it also doesn't matter how they look because it's going inside of the brim anyway 😊
Your tutorials are extremly helpful and inspiring. Been collceting red yarn to make a devil ear bonnet or cat ear and this just encouraged me once i finish a sweater im working on ❤❤ ty
All of the hats are very nice, well done.... but I totally agree... the brown newsboy cap looks great and suits you perfectly. I was thinking that adding a brim as well as the ear flaps to the tassel beanie, might be an interesting option. 🤔 😊
Hi, just wanted to say that I love your videos. You’re the reason I learned how to crochet a beret. You are the best. Hope this shows you how amazing you are 😊
Hey, ikoxun :) i love your content so much as a teen girl who crochets. You inspire me so much! Im getting ready to make Christmas gifts early because i always procrastinate😭 but i love how you measure and write down your ideas, I always make sure to follow your tutorials, i remember making a scarf from your videos and it turned out great :) ! I wanted to request maybe making 90s styled outfits? Or streetwear, Something unique :D! Happy crocheting!
Honestly your tutorials are so easy to understand I easily made the newsboy hat it’s sooo cuteee I can’t wait to see your other videos❤❤ (still waiting for the marvel crochet video😭🙏🏻)
I've been thinking of crocheting my own ear flap beanie but had no clue where to start so thank you for the video! (The ear warmers look super cute as well so I might have to make them too!)
The fox earwarmer is so cute but the video pattern was wrong. It was way too short to reach my ears. For those of you having the same issue, keep repeating rows with the decreases until you reach the seven stitches.
I'm making the tassel hat with size 5 yarn! I made 9 increase rows in total (so you're finished with increase rows once you've done [dc 5 + 2dc] until you get to 70 total stitches)! I then did 4 dc rows with no increases :D
3:47 How do you get 28 stiches if you increase into every 2nd stich of row two which means 10 increases? Shouldn't that then be 20st+10st=30st on row 3?
It looks like she skips the first stitch of that row and the last increase, I'm guessing? Every row after that only increases by seven, so the back of the hat must be less voluminous, like an older newsboy cap instead of circular like a beret with a brim. It's a bit hard to see, but I think that makes the most sense
Uuuh I'm gunna try the headband/earwarmer! It looks like a semi-beginnerfreindly project for me, since even tho I haven't ried double crochet yet you demonstrate it very well! Thanks!
Recycle the foam placemats, or plastic canvas to stiffen the brim which also helps with washability, not so likely to mold as organic materials. I learned this from Crystal on Bag-O-Day
25:21 this ear pattern gen saved me..i was making a hello kitty halloween costume but didnt have any cat ears so i thought i would make them myself but all the other videos where too confusing for me, tysm 😭🙏
Oh my goodness, these are such excellent tutorials- perfect for all skill levels too! I loved pointing arrow graphic you used as a visual aid in this video as well 🙂 It's difficult to choose a favorite- I've never owned a hat with ear flaps, the paperboy hat is adorable, and the fox ear headband/ear warmer is next level adorable! 😍 I could also see myself making the "fox ears" and attaching them to a hat of my choice, perhaps modifying the color of the ears to represent a different animal- for example, Scottish terrier ears (and make them a bit taller) 😊 I have a question about the ears- if anyone has any concerns about the ears staying upright, do you think it would be a good idea to make a duplicate ear (for each ear) and slip stitch them together to make them double thick and rigid?
yesss the ears are so versatile :) and I think that would def work to make them more rigid! Someone else suggested adding wire in the middle after making two ears to keep it standing up as well ~ i love how people add their suggestions to help others make the projects even better, it makes me really happy
Just wish I could be as creative and productive as you! It’s really hard for me because I haven’t crocheted for 6 months! 😢 I’ll try my best to make that brown hat 👒

Thanks so much for posting these! I'm struggling to get the fox warmers started, I keep redoing and counting rows 2-4 but I'm not getting 13 sts like I'm supposed to on row 4, even though I'm chaining 8, dc into every stitch until I have 7 etc. does the chain 2 count as a stitch? Thanks again!❤
hmmm i think that was an error on my part😔 im counting it through again and it’s definitely 12 stitches in the row, not 13, unless you do count the chain 2 (but i didn’t)- which is completely fine! it doesn’t drastically change the pattern or anything :) sorry for the confusion
I’m a newsboy hat person and will be making this. The brown is my favorite. The use of denim as an interfacing was a brilliant idea. Actually, using thick interfacing could be another choiceI. I imagine these will br going with you on your trip to Japan?
hii! i'm making the fox ear warmer right now and i'm kind of stuck with the rows 19-22. i have 13 stitches on row 18 but doing the decreases on both ends for rows 19-22 leaves me with 5 stitches for row 23. i tried to calculate it but didn't succeed, here's my calculations: decrease on two first and two last stitches decreases a total of two stitches on each row: row 19 starting with 13 and decreasing 2: 13-2 row 20: 11-2 row 21: 9-2 row 22: 7-2 row 23 = 5 i tried redoing these rows five times in case i just missed a stitch somewhere but i keep ending up with 5.. is there something i'm doing or calculating wrong? i also tried marking the last two stitches with stitch markers to make sure i wasn't skipping any stitches..
Hi! i’ve realized i have a couple of errors in the instructions that im going to pin as a comment soon - you’re not doing anything wrong and i apologize that the instructions made it complicated. you can actually stop decreasing after row 21 so you can have the 7 stitches instead of 5. then on row 22, do the instructions for row 23 and then finish the ear warmer normally. again i’m so sorry!
@@ikoxun oh okay thank you so much for the quick response!!! yeah i was kind of guessing it was an error but i really started to doubt myself after trying to learn about stitch counts yesterday because i always get confused 🫠 but no worries, i really love these hats and i appreciate your tutorials, it's so clear and helpful!! ♡ now i'm off to finish my fox ear warmers 😅 ❤
This is so gorgeous❤ I have a question... I have bulky yarn and have no idea what to do with it (it doesn't work well for plushies at all) any suggestions as to what I can make with it? Love your vids
it depends on how much bulky yarn you have! if you want to make clothing, you can make some hats, a cute chunky sweater , maybe a chunky scarf-- but if you want to lean more into easier projects, you can do a pillow like maybe a circular pillow since that works up extremely fast and you can either fill it with cotton or find a circular pillow from the thrift to throw inside. other ideas could be an easy coaster, maybe a cute basket, or a scrunchie 🥺
Idk if you still respond to comments but i followed along and was so excited and i cant even get it over my head 😢 thankfully i didn't make the brim yet. Anyway to know how wide the main part has to be to fit my 22 inch head?
Thank you for the video! I’m making a fox ear warmer rn, but your pattern is wrong-23 rows makes it way too small, and it’s very confusing..I don’t know what is wrong because I counted the rows on yours, and yours really does have 23 rows
Could be that your tension is tighter than hers. You might need to redo the band with a size or two larger hook to obtain proper tension for it to fit at 23 rows. The other option is to maybe add rows with no increase until you get to what fits your head. It's worth an experiment or two on which works better for you.
there's probably an error here and there unfortunately with the stitch counts :( which one are you making? if you're not getting the exact number, it wont affect how the project turns out
For the brim of the first hat, an option I recommend is using a piece of denim instead of cardboard- this will allow the hat to be washed (either hand washed or machine washed) without the cardboard deteriorating (or getting smelly lol) 😊

for the ear flaps, the pattern I followed for size 5 yarn went:
rows 1-3: hdc (12)
row 4: decrease row (10)
rows 5-8: hdc (10)
row 9: dec row (8)
rows 10-13: hdc (8)

row 15: hdc (6)
row 16: dec row (4)
