I started to play Maokai support a couple of weeks ago and I’ve climbed 2 divisions already with it. I take phase rush instead or aftershock and it works surprisingly well overall.
i0ki im gonna be really upset if you don't try galio before next patch's nerfs, Full ap galio with ghost and aftershock, abuse the insane ap ratios on lich bane and how good galio utilizes them
Hey!! Im spamming the same build on every champ with CC and mana: Ingenious Hunter, Fimbulwinter, Unending Despair, Eclipse, Sundered Sky, and Spirit Visage (change the Eclipse for the Supp item, the one that heal you when you CC when go Supp). It´s hilarious how much you can tank and the Eclipse + SSky have a good damage when the rune allow you to use every 4.5 secs.
Honestly, champ design itself is where RIOT went wrong. The W is obviously not fair: point and click, fat range, invulnerability. You attach any other form of CC to a champ with that W, and you have a guaranteed way to make someone not move for an hour. That's the point of Malz R. Why does Maokai come out of the box with it???? Not to mention the guarunteed aftershock activation. And Maokai builds MS these days, so there is actually 0 counterplay. It's inescapable doom. Also, Maokai is easily tied for the strongest R in the game. It just completely throws a wrench in the enemy's teamfighting, and its range is ridiculous. Q is a great skill. But in context with W, it is literally way too broken. It lets Maokai have a guaranteed engage and disengage. E vision + throw range is obviously really strong, too. P is strong, but I think fair. The issue is that Maokai has really strong skills (P, Q, E, R), attached to the most busted skill in the game (W). Maokai W is the engage that engage supports have wet dreams about. My opinion is they need to rework W.
Idk . They said it's for the New player or low elo tonshine but finally if u go in and no one follow maokai IS juste pièce of fckin trash ! And they actually nerf him twicz
yeah and he's still 53%+ winrate in every elo lol. I don't know why Riot refuses to ACTUALLY nerf him rather than chipping away at an insanely OP champ.
it's impressive that we have a head of balance that plays in high ELO regardless. People don't understand how rare that is -- do you think World of Warcraft's balance team is playing in high-level raids in their offtime from work? Do you think Destiny 2 has members of the balance team playing in the top 0.01% of skill bracket? It literally just doesn't happen, and people are flaming him nonstop for CLIMBING WAY HIGHER THAN ALMOST EVERY PLAYER ON THE SERVER. I can almost guarantee you're not Grandmaster, so why don't you go climb there using whatever champ you want? Prove me wrong.
@i0kiPlus doesn't every high elo disagree that phreak deserves master teir while spamming maokai and Janna? Also its his job, that doesn't mean he has to be good but it does mean it's literally his job to play the game. So maybe not quite the achievement. Sure he's a higher rank than me and OP, but what he's doing is pretty disingenuous regardless.
@@i0kiPlus except i climbed challenger using all enchanters even mained sona when shes barely playable but i still made her work. phreak has been playing for god knows how long and suddenly steped gm FOR THE FIRST TIME IN AGES while spamming an OP pick? that doesnt ring a bell to you?
1.) Winrate (54% is way too high; since there are 10 players in league, a 4% win differential mathematically means Maokai is worth 140% what other supports are worth in league!) 2.) Counter-picks (It is shocking to me that no support counters Maokai. Not one reaching 50%! (with movement speed changes, this might be changed) 3.) Ease of champion (This might be personal preference, but it infuriates me when the easiest / simplest champions in league are also the best ones without contest) When 1 and 2 (above) are combined, the champion needs to be fixed.

i dunno why but i had a few matches where we had Pyke top with HoB and he went full health / tank items with hearthsteal

I never played meele sup in my entire life, wanted to try Maokai, won 2 games in ranked with him 😂
Phreak probably really upset people keep pointing this out, he will have to find a new champ to buff and abuse.
