I've been cutting my own hair for most of my life and I'm 67. Granted, my hair is long and curly, so it's more forgiving of my inaccuracy. I also color my own hair. Have saved tens of thousand of dollars over my lifetime.

Been cutting my long hair since covid madness began. Had cut bangs before and cut my daughters' hair but never my longer hair. Watched a TH-cam video and it's so easy. My darker strawberry blonde hair now has a mix of white and darker color underneath as well as some of my normal, natural color, so I don't want to let it grow out without using some tint to help. I use a henna mix, Mountain Light Naturals, it is not toxic, is less expensive, and can look beautiful. A must is researching it prior to using, and collect a wad of hair from your hairbrush and shower to test.
I really like cutting my own short hair. It can be addictive. My Mom has the same hair, she likes the way I cut hers too. Your cut is great on you.

Ooh.... i used to cut my hair when it was long. I've a wedding to go to in june, i think after that ill cut my own. Its a bit shorter than yours. But my barber is retiring soon. I hate having my hair cut by someone.
Same! I'm 50 and have cut my hair several times. Its curly so it's very forgiving. When I'm 55 or 60 no more dye. Yours is very pretty! The color and the cut!
I cut my own hair now too!!! I have gone to almost every hairdresser in my town and to be honest, I feel that after a few months, my haircut changes even though it’s supposed to be the same style… I have spent so much money trying to keep my hair healthy, and I decided that it’s just not worth the effort to go to the hairdresser and get the same result… I don’t care about what people say about my hairstyle. In fact it’s not their hair so, who cares… only me lol 😂🌻☺️🙏
I have always snipped my hair a little here and there, but took an online class on how to cut your own hair with a razor and it is so much easier and better. I do still color my hair with henna, but been itching to let the gray grow out. However the transition will be awful. You rod an amazing job cutting your hair!

as a hairstylist of 46 yrs i’m forever grateful for all who have allowed me to make a living in this field…i’ve had a studio in my garage/home for last 23 yrs , so i am able to keep my prices very low and affordable along w/me not have to pay such high rent…( when i last rented a studio 23 yrs ago i was charged $170 a week to rent that space here in midwest..course on top of that , ya gotta buy product, then there’s taxes etc..) ps, i gotta pay bills too❣️

Going to a stylist is not about saving money for me, it’s about pampering myself. It’s 30 minutes of bliss every 2-3 months. Having it washed with a scalp massage is so worth it. I have shoulder length gray hair for a 62 year old guy and I love that you own it too.
I moved away from my hometown when I was 39 years old and in my new (large) community I could never find a hairdresser like I had before so I traveled back ever 4 weeks until he went to heaven. Then, the search started for another, but never happy with cuts and I would re-cut my own way, trying to do what Steve would do, then I felt better. Some good cuts others not to good, but better than the one I’ve paid for. Remember it will grow out!!!! 🤗🤗🤗

Your hair is beautiful. I keep my hair to my collarbone so I can put it up with a twist and a clip. I’m 71 and have never colored my hair. I didn’t want to become stuck in the cycle of getting it done every 6 weeks or so. I say I’m frugal, others call me cheap. 🤷♀️🤣. I’m both !
I started cutting my own hair about 20 years ago. I've coloured it and my eyebrows for even longer. About 5 years ago I was so busy at work I didn't have the time or energy to colour my hair, but became fascinated with the grey regrowth as it got longer and longer, each morning. And I wasn't horrified! It was fascinating, and I LOVED the colour!
I've never received compliments on my hair, ever, til I let it go grey! I'm a female, 67 years old, and the compliments were usually from men! I also cut it in a funky way. Not granny style. And it works for me. The compliments still happen, which still amuse me, but I just enjoy cutting my own hair. When I was studying horticulture about 20 years ago, one of the young guys told me that because I loved pruning, I'm a frustrated hairdresser. I think he was right!

I've been doing my own hair for the last 20 years. once a year I will pay someone to highlight and cut my hair really well.
The rest of the year I just do my own highlights with a cap every 3 months or so. then I do my best to maintain the professional haircut that I get at the beginning of the year.

Yup, been cutting mine the last year or so. Also bleach top half n dye it pastel colours myself n leave underneath half natural salt n pepper/ mousy Brown. Love it. I am creative so I also wear alot of fun hair accessories. Soooo much cheaper!! One less thing to worry about.

I have been cutting my own hair for some years now & dyeing it using supermarket shelf colours. I just touch it up on the topmost crown & forehead line…dab it on & leave to develop then wash out. Works well. My hair is wavy & has been pretty long then shoulder length or just under my chin…youtube wolf cut, butterfly cut & my own variations on those methods plus a fringe. TBH, l love that l’m really happy with the styles, all the layers, the cost savings, can do it myself whenever l want..& l actually prefer the way my hair looks than so very very many ‘professional’ haircuts of the past!

I cut my hair since 2018. And I really like it. It saves time and money and if it isn’t perfect, it doesn’t matter. No bad feelings towards the hairdresser 😂
My hair is not as short as yours, therefore it is easier to cut in the back.
I always have just my sides shaved and around my ears cost me $17 when i go every month,finally said forget it im doing my own.
Being a Hairdresser l can tell you short hair is the hardest cut. If you have enough length to put a ponytail in the middle of the top off your hair with an elastic band. Cut off at least an inch straight across. Then point cut it so that the long layers don't look blunt. This hair cut gives you long soft layers without taking length.

Your gray hair is lovely! I never colored my hair until about 38 yrs old. Then the grays came & were hard to cover- I started thinking about those toxic chemicals on my scalp (& the expense) Later my hair stylist developed lung problems from breathing those chemicals! As I have gotten... old... I am working MORE on beautifying inside bc the outside IS what it IS! I would love to cut my own hair. I just paid 53$ for a cut & blowdry. I think I have sharp mor masculine facial feaures so I dont think real short hair would look nice on me. I would like to learn how to cut myself a bob.

So funny - your inspiration pic on your phone is the one I used last time I got my hair cut. I wish I could do a good job cutting it myself. if I could, I would. But, it’s very fine, and I need someone who knows what they are doing for it to look it’s best. I do my own highlights, though. I just buy the frosting kits from the drugstore, the ones that come with caps. I don’t use the cap, I just dip the end of a 3 row of teeth teasing comb into the mixture, and paint the highlights where I want them. I have a somewhat tousled style, so no need for perfection. If it looks brassy, I tone it with purple shampoo. $15 at the drugstore vs $175 at the salon, and I kind of like my results better!
I did a pixie which wasnt hard but what I really want is a layered bob, seems a bit daunting.

I started cutting my own a couple years ago and I'm still not happy with it entirely but at least I'm not devastated by someone else's idea of what I wanted and out the money too.

Ive been doing my own for many years. Now that I am drastically thinning its way harder because I have to shop n bid on decent quality extensions that were bought n discarded by wealthier women then I have to dye my hair to match the extensions.
I had 4 guys in our home. I have always cut all their hair. Recently, we sat down and calculated what we have saved over 24 years...40,000. 😮

Your natural gray looks great, I stopped coloring my hair about 10 years ago and I’m going on 62 with basically salt and pepper hair 😂 and I get compliments so it’s a win 😊 it’s shocking to see women PAY for it! But you also have a very slender beautiful shaped face and skin so the grey looks perfect with your skin tone and face shape that is an extremely great advantage most people do not have but yes you did good and look great
I'm so sorry, I completely understand as I am having financial struggles as well. Coloring gray hair is not difficult, just stick to a color with natural undertones and definitely stay away from Ash shades. Perhaps if you were to grow out your hair a little longer than you could afford to get your haircut professionally again because you wouldn't have to do it so often

Yes i get a few cuts a year and take a cm off all over to trim myself as fringe usually needs trimmed more often too. Hair dye allergy - go natural....its toxic.
