Ms. Kaehler's home is proof that traditional design can be young and fresh. Alex's youthful energy is apparent in her charming approach to mixing traditional and contemporary art and furnishings. A delightful home base for a young family.
She has good taste yet is down to earth and she skillfully designed the house around a growing family. The formal living room is very elegant yet relaxing and she knows how to create conversation groupings wt the furniture placements. Guests would feel very comfortable stretching out on the divan. The dog that follows her around looks well-loved. I have the same designing sensibilities but with a beer budget😊
Beautiful well thought out home thank you for sharing. But please, give your beautiful dog a comfy bed to lay on in that crate in the kitchen instead of him laying on the hard plastic pan.
She said the puppy was very naughty so obviously she had to put it in “time out.” It could have tried to bite the camera man, and I would have done the same if so. A hard surface to lay on like a floor is just fine, temporarily.
I really like how all the artwork has meaning to her. And that she wanted her home to be a lived in home. So many look like museums. Like she said it was designed so it would work for their lifestyle. The scarf framed was really pretty as well.
Thank you, Homeworthy, for featuring a mid-western, and as a bonus, Chicago-area home. I enjoyed hearing this designer’s philosophy of mixing comfort, family-friendly and beauty in each room. Each room was inviting; the house plan so well thought out. Very cool to see one of Elliot Bergman’s bells featured!
That's a great brass bell bowl! Lovely wallpapers. Artwork included! I'd have the heat going consistently. It's freezing here in Chicago! Nice collections. I'm surprised the ceilings weren't raised! Very nice interior and exterior. I do think the small strip of wallpaper would look nice on the kitchen ceiling, since the white, is so stark. I understand her need for "garden feel". We dont live in the season long enough! Home Sweet Home!
I LAUGHED WHEN SHE SAID THE ENTRY WAY WASNT BIG LOL OH MY GOODNESS I THINK ITS HUGE BEAUTILFUL HOME.....LOVE THE BACKYARD TOTALLY KNOW WHY THEY FELL IN LOVE WITH IT.
FINALLY someone around my age (Im 35) with the same taste dubbed Grandmillenial. You can have traditional taste with classic touches that doesn't make you seem like a stuffy 85 year old. Love her home, especially things she has incorporated that reminds her of her family.
My mother, who is in her 80's, gave me a wonderful upbringing and sense of style and appreciation of the arts. Nothing stuffy going on there. They are the generation that created many of the interior designs you choose to label "Grandmillenial." How ironic in that she is part of the greatest generation. ☺️
Ben there's absolutely nothing spectacular about this home. 85yr old aren't stuffy but this home and yours are. Whoever treats their dogs like that is a no
Love this house, seems so inviting and light and airy. The painting of the grandmother is lovely and looks like the homeowner and her style of clothing is beautiful too. Barb
Loved this design and home. The backyard was chef’s kiss. I also like how the living room and family room was decorated. Beautiful entryway. I enjoyed everything.
Quintessentially traditional, stylish, unpretentious, timeless and classy. Appreciate the updated style for a tried and true home, plus truly unexpected and charming touches - like marble wallpaper on the ceiling. Very inspiring, thank you.
One of my favorite homes! I love all the wallpaper, so gorge! Winnetka is such an affluent area; I love that this home is beautiful without looking outrageously pretentious. Stunning!
@@TheMODEGeekLOL. It is amusing how people think that all of Chicagoland is a war zone. Granted, we just moved to the Western burbs from Ukie Village, but sheesh!
Probably one of my favourite one's to watch. Love how nothing's to precious & built to be lived in. Stunning painting of grandma. That marble ceiling.. gorgeous 😍. Can definitely tell Pup is loved & adored 🥰. Beautiful comfy home 🖤 I love it ⚘️🪻🌻.
Very nice home that's traditional yet up to date at the same time. One question: could we get a few more home tours from people who aren't already professional designers? I really like the tours of people who are great at decorating but aren't professionals.
My goodness. You are so into your things and what they mean to you, and how much you love them, but your kids could still destroy them and you are fine with that. Bless your heart.
She's done a beautiful job with her home... However, I'm getting tired of Homeworthy mainly featuring massive homes with unlimited budgets. I love seeing people be creative in smaller spaces.
Growing but not growing collection 👏👏👏 it's really nice to hear and see all the personal details of the home, gorgeous 👗 dress, that dress gives me a whole colour scheme idea👏👏👏👑
Your home is a true representation of your love for family and love for life. It's authentic and can be felt throughout your personal tour. It makes one want to treasure love, life and family. Thank you🌿🌹🌿
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home here in Chicago. The herringbone flooring is very nice and the two green elephants in the foyer area are simple cute!! ☺ I like the open concept with the kitchen and family/entertainment area!! Nice!! I like to see how many people arrange the home/condo that they want to live in. And yes, I hear you about our Chicago weather and needing a place to take off your boots and coats!!! I saw the snow here back on Tuesday and it was 🤪 crazy!! Well, thank you again for giving me some design ideas. And yes, I am in the Edgewater/Uptown neighborhood so, Chicago weather, I heat you!! ☺ Smile
It’s a beautiful home but can we talk about her puppy he follows her around like true love animals do that as a form of affection that means they know you take good care of them and love them 🤍🐶🤍 when they don’t follow you want to be under you look out 🤣
I love that you said you like to think of your design style for the house as it was decorated by a drunk granny. I think that shows your sense of humor. Your house is thoughtful and gorgeous. High style meets practical living. Thank you ❤
Beautiful home and gracious owner. Thank you for the tour. Would anybody know which company makes the large sliding doors leading to the sunroom/patio?
I A D O R E E V E R Y T H I N G! I am coveting the fabric on the living room sofa that mimic the one that was in your parents' home. Beautifully gorgeous.
@@cloudydumpling492 we all care about the " damn dog" and after watching this certainly not about the damn woman or her ugly decor. Some of us in the world care about animals
Lovely classic style home. Just get rid of the vocal fryyyy. If the kids are allowed to break and destroy things then the dog should be allowed out of the cage.
I love homeworthy but this is not in Chicago. The host was clear where she's located and it's a nice suburb/ village of IL. I live in Chicago so I'm familiar with the area. Now on to watch the episode ☺️
I really love what she's done and I think it's wonderful that she's juxtaposed her sister's beautiful art work, with the fabric from her grandmother's living room. I have a significant appreciation for a mixture of contemporary and traditional and I think it's wonderful that she has created this with so many references to her family throughout the house. It really puts a personal stamp on it. I also really adore that her coffee tables are minimally decorated. I'm really tired of the coffee table that is overflowing with books and baubles. It makes me claustrophobic and I'm ready for that trend to go away.
Beautiful family home! There was so much thought and execution to each square foot. The description and presentation was well done. Im in love with the screened in sun room. Who doesnt want to extend summer in Chicago area? Your family, kids AND future grands will be able to enjoy , for a lifetime. Bravo! 👏👏👏
Well I had 2 80 lb labradors… on the rare occasion they were crates ( when young)… I had a nice soft blanket and pad for them.. I THINK this person can afford that.. and find the minute it would take to do that. Sorry.

Absolutely beautiful family home. I love her choices. I don't live in a traditional home, but they're my favorite to view. Thank you Allison.
