I feel very fortunate that my mom instilled her love of music in me. I did with my daughter and currently I'm working on my granddaughter. She adores this song!

OMG, the tissues I've 🤧 gone through since I discovered David Draiman and Disturbed performing their rendition of "The Sound of Silence" on April 29, 2024. That day I have to believe my spirit 🙏 guides (out of the blue) first led me to a cover video by Dan Vasc singing "Amazing Grace" which was phenomenal 👏 and then to the cover video of Disturbed and David Draiman singing this most POWERFUL, EMOTIONAL 😂rendition of Simon and Garfunkels "The Sound of Silence". I'm 75 and was 15 when they released one of the most popular classic songs of our time during the 60's. It is amazing how relevant it is today, actually I feel it is even more relevant than ever in so many different ways. I've spent days since listening and seeing, you notice I didn't say viewing, the many channel hosts and each of their reactions and have 😢 almost every time. It's funny that more males have gotten teary-eyed than females, just an observation. By the way, David Draiman was really sick for the Conan live performance and I heard he was not pleased with his performance, being the perfectionist that he is I can understand why he felt that way. Yea amazing image. Interestingly as dark and ominous as the song, the performance, and the lyrics were, at the very end, the boat is heading towards the other side, perhaps to join the musicians with the lyric writers.The sound to reunite with the words.

I love to live version, my only critique is the guitar is lost amongst the other instruments. Not the fault of the musicians, the sound guy should have amped it up more
I recall threads in various forums and such where, in order to bring a remark back to the top of a thread, someone posts "Bump." Watching your reactions to the song made me realize that a great cover (this one, "Hurt" performed by Jonny Cash, "Stairway to Heaven" by Heart) doesn't overshadow an older, original song. Rather, it "bumps" the song back into the more current culture for new people to discover, and existing fans to refresh their views.

To me S&Gs version is like a warning to the people and Disturbs version is like ok you didn't listen now I'm pissed..... If you liked this cover you should hear their great cover of the genesis song Land of confusion. It is also so well done.
