Thank you, I just want to put some stuff out there that shows you don’t have to buy the latest mirrorless and high end glass to get decent quality. A lot of DSLR‘s are a great value for the money right now. They used to be top-of-the-line and high dollar and the prices are so low now, it’s crazy.

Hello RGO, photo. Thank you for reviewing these 90's era Canon EF lenses. I am new to cameras and photography. I've been in the "junk" section of Japanese stores buying old/moldy lenses for $10ish dollars. I've dived in head first and have started taking them apart and cleaning them. That 28-135 is a big regret I didn't get. It was going for $48 USD. As soon as I decided to come back and get it (5 minute time frame) it was gone! Days later I found the OG 28-80 and love it! It was also fairly easy to clean. I hope you have a wonderful day!

I am glad you liked the video. I will have a few more out with other EF USM lenses(24-85 USM, 28-105 II USM, 28-70 USM). The newer 28-80s that I reviewed were pretty terrible IQ-wise and in apparent build quality. But, the OG does really in the 28-50ish range and the 28-135 does real good from 50-105ish(and has some IS). I took apart one the newer 28-80s from the previous reviews but couldn't get to the spot that needed cleaning, almost got it back together, then pitched it out. The other I sold off real cheap. It seems the 90s EF lenses were generally of good quality and offer a pretty good bang for the buck in certain focal lengths. If you find a knack for reviving these EF lenses you could make a little extra cash cleaning for people and/or buy cheap/clean/resell.

Great review! Something interesting that I noticed with the 28-135mm is that I bought it twice and the 2nd version was much better and has no lens creep. It's as sharp as my 24-105mm f/4L actually! Whats the difference? The 2nd one I got is a newer version from 2011. Very significant upgrade on the image quality. The 1st version I had was nearly identical to the one you are testing. It makes me wonder if they did some kind of upgrade on quality control or something with the newer ones

That’s very interesting, I need to do some research on serial numbers and maybe try to get a later version as well.

What camera you used for? Dslr ff or eos r series? How about the focusing?
