It’s so interesting how these two are so confident in the offense line. When they couldn’t push around inferior competition. We have the same players. But I digress.
@SoonerStache What he's saying is that there needs to be proof on the field before we all just assume that this unit will be much improved. That take seems logical to me...
So the first 2/3 of the year every game was a new starting 5 because of injuries. Our line was good enough the last 4 games. Offense coordinator schemes was horrible.
@@OUrNit03 Logan Howland was young and improved by the end of the year. Same with Heath Ozaeta. I gotta believe EPL is only going to improve. Jake Taylor was injured most of the year. Then add in the two portal guys we got and that makes me less concerned about the OL.
Agree to a certain extent. I believe the NCAA is destroying the sport we love. Make it a 1 and done transfer rule. Anything ontop of that you sit out a year. NIL like they said I wish it was just a revenue sharing and put a cap on it. NCAA is letting these guys run around like the Wild West with their thumb up their ass.
@zacharyowens3547 exactly!!, guys that have played together, and guys that were working with bb last season. I think we're gonna be fine on o line. Interested to see Devon Mitchell can make a big impact at t.e. We're gonna click on offense this time in my opinion. Tatum gonna fix some ball control running the ball. XRob is gonna kill it. I feel pretty good bout our guys. Wide receiver room remains to be seen, but we have reason to be hopeful.
From what I heard, Marvin plays the run very well. If Marvin can basically do what Ethan Downs did last season, I'll be fine with that. And Ethan was good.
Well the reason why people saying Oklahoma need to spend a lot more money because this season Ohio State spent 22 million dollars in Texas Longhorn spent 21 million dollars on players.
Success in college sports is cyclical. Every team is just a head coaching change from being a title contender or an afterthought. Alabama is finding that out right now. As long as we have Joe Castiglione, we won't be down for very long.
@davidweaver932 agreed! And im used to the basketball team being good and not great but after the football season we had I was really needing something to make me feel better 🤣 im sure the basketball team will get some good wins, plenty of games left.
I heard Dan Mullins is a snake. I am glad we didn't hire him. Would have been another bad hire by this staff. Not saying they don't make good hires. Our position coaches are awesome and I like the Arbuckle hire.
30:41 Sammy, Kip, & Koby are gunna go off next year…all I’m looking for is who emerges as the ALPHA of that group bc those dudes are going to be lethal. With that DLINE applying pressure like madmen at every angle and position it will SPRING our LB’s & Secondary into another stratosphere. Leadership will be the biggest question. But we have the goons at each level and the depth, JUST NEED LEADERS TO EMERGE…
If Rex, Ryan doesn’t get the Jets head coaching position a blast to the past great defensive coordinator plus he could make the transition to more of a NFL MODLE program
Kanak came to OU because of Venables. He was highly recruited. Elite athlete. Biggest bust of Venables tenure? What's missing with him? Move him to H Back? He's a waste of elite athleticism thus far.
OU should definitely just pickup Wafle (if they like his brother as well) and really go after Westmoreland. Other than that they should sit and wait for spring portal period or post bowl game entries to fill other spots after they see who will or won’t step up in spring camp.
This 2025 OU team could go 11-1 or 10-2 next year. Pretty amazing since it went 2-6 in 2024 SEC games and then lost its bowl game matchup to a midmajor G5 school.
The 2025 team could also go 6-7 again or worse because the schedule will be tougher. Im not jumping on the sunshine pumping until after the Michigan game. We've been here before and have been ket down.
@@chief-qn3xgI mean we do actually have a proven qb who can complete a forward pass this year. So there’s that. If we had Mateer last year we are a 9 win team even with that shitty offensive line.
Sooner Alumni here from early 2000’s. Only one season in 20 years where we only lost 1 game. 8-4 is more realistic & that’s assuming a lot goes our way. As much as I love BV he hasn’t shown me that he can consistently win a close game.
@@lanegilstrap2456agree. If the o-line doesn't improve we will waste him too. Too many weaknesses to correct for me to say ou will be a threat to anyone.
Keep the bulk of your money home, and soend the rest on your missing pieces. Meaning Spend the money 70% to 60% you need to keep the guys like Damonic Williams, R Mason Thomas, Robert Spears, Kip lewis, both Bowens, J.jackson, Stone, Halton etc thats where the bulk of your money should go is retention. The rest of that 30% to 40% should be spent getting those missing pieces like a John Mateer, Javoinne Gibson, Marvin Jones, Isiah Sategna, keontez Lewis and Daniels. I think OU is doing it right, whereas some of these other schools are going to be hurting in the next 5 to 10 years due to over spending on players. Because lets be honest that 15 Mil isnt recovered at any point, and Donors no matter how rich will evebtually get tired of shelling out money with little results
Are you guys not saying the name of the d coordinator candidate because you’re giving it behind the paywall? If so your competition already put the name out there so you can go ahead and talk about it.
Jeff Lebby is a good coach. It was his ties to Baylor. He was there, his father in law was in charge. I thought that was a bad hire only because of that. His offense was more than good enough and if we had that this year, we might still be playing.
University of Tulsa hired a new football head coach in Tre Lamb from Eastern Tennessee State after he turned that program around to 7-5 in one year there. TU hired him a month ago and he already has his staff done and has 16 players from portal coming in and 4 of them are former Oklahoma High School players. One of the portal guys Tulsa got is transferring from Oklahoma and he is from Bixby, OK. Tulsa has 33 players in portal and 4 of them came out of it and back to Tulsa. The head coach is a golfer and a Tulsa alumni invited him to Southern Hill Country Club this summer for a member-guests event and he is going. #Tulsa #oklahoma #loyalalwaystrue #okprep #trelamb #reigncane
Lamb hired a son and Father duo to his staff. Ty Darlington former OU football player) is now at Tulsa on the football staff. Coach Lamb has been talking to all Tulsa area/ Oklahoma high schools coaches and getting to know them better.
Im so pissed. Why tf are we getting big names on defense and players from the university of the blind for offense. Its like our coaching staff thinks this year was a terrible defense and great offense. We are so screwed next year.
$20mil for a 6-7 trash ass team. And then we spend our bags on the defense. Wtf are we even doing. This is insanity and im gonna be pissed all next year. I can already tell. Love ya BV but this is just idiocracy.
Yeah it makes no sense to change the defensive system at this point. The ONE area that has been consistent and reliable and you CHANGE it in a make or break year? Absolutely not.

I’m concerned about Cornerback more than Linebacker. I think OU needs to grab a really good cornerback if one is available now or in Spring.
Yes coach.
Agreed. Cornerback/secondary has been a weakness for over a decade.
If we can stay healthy at cb then we will be fine but we are one injury away from looking rough.
@@JDT0801 That's been the issue. Gentry's availability. We don't have the depth at that position to take those blows with him not playing.

We need some more ELITE GAME TESTED OFFENSIVE LINEMEN!!!
If only there were those out there. Can’t get them if they aren’t there. Just need more time with Schmitty and BB and these young guys will be alright
There’s a lot more o-line depth this year. Most of the starters from last year are coming back too so they’ll be way more developed
