There not the same, but they are both herbal. I love the peppermint, spearmint, menthol flavor of fernet and the licorice flavor of jagermeister.

I'm argentinian n I drink this "trago" every weekend, if u want to try a new drink, u have to follow these steps, at first we add into a glass some ice ❄❄ (5%) then the fernet branca (20%) and finally add coca cola (75%) and u have "un fernet con coca" sabroso y bien argentino 🙌🙌🙌

It is a bit like cigarettes. Nobody enjoys their first one or two, but then you do acquire the taste. Diluted a little with ice, let it roll across the sides of your tongue at the back, to get the hard mint and bitter cocoa flavor in balance, because is definitely worth the effort. It is also a vital ingredient in the classic hanky panky cocktail, where it brings a kind of salty complexity to a sweet martini.

Fernet is one of the greatest spirits ever.
I cannot stand Fernet Branca alone but I drink it with tonic water, lemon bitters, and a bit of simple syrup. It tastes just like Lipton Brisk Iced Tea. I fill up a glass with ice, fill it 40% with Fernet Branca, fill the rest with tonic water, three dashes of lemon bitters, and an ounce of simple syrup. That's approximate since I normally eyeball and adjust for flavor.
This is hilarious this is one of the most well respected spirits and they label the video the most undrinkable spirit..😂 people don’t like it because of lack of knowledge and or lack of respect for the process of making amaros

I try fernet First time in Argentina and is excelent drink with coca cola. Since then I buy always fernet. One of my favorite drinks.

I guess those peoples never tasted french gentian-based liquors like Suze or Avèze. Fernet-Branca tastes like candies compared to thoses.

It needs to be added to something. Try a Hanky Panky, the most famous Fernet cocktail, created by Ada Coleman at The Savoy, London in the 1920's.
Sorry but 70% (global) of fernet consumption is in Argentina, and we drink it with coca cola and ice

not if you are going by popularity. The Fernando, Fernandito or Fernet con Coca(all the same drink) is immensely huge in Argentina.
Does it taste good.. no, But it is definitly the best "shot" to cure a severe hangover. I was "near deathwish bad hangover" when i was introduced to this... vomiting and migreene like headache.. i had 2 small shots of this.. and 30 minutes later... all was gone! Just dont drive after the "cure" :P

This is with out question the worst tasting drink of any kind. You can mix it with a gallon of Coca-Cola to a shot of Fernet and you would just be wasting Coke.

Fernet-Branca is an acquired taste, it is very different on your tongue
And for Charles Passy to just poo poo on it, because he truly doesn't understand it, is just poor judgement and reporting, not really helpful
It is a Bitter and most people that have never experienced that sort of flavor will usually react negatively towards it, as it shocks your mouth at first
Explaining and experiencing Fernet-Branca correctly is important, first the grand positive that it helps digestion, so you have a nice boost to health as you consume it. Drinking it straight is not something that you really want to do, frankly as it is pretty concentrated, plus is runs at 39% vol of alcohol. Trying it by mixing with of Coke, Seltzer, Tonic Water, or the like with ice and perhaps a nice lemon or lime twist definitely makes it much more enjoyable. There are two places that make Fernet-Branca, first originally in Italy and then in Argentina, it will state that on the bottle. They have a bit of a different flavor and I think that the Argentinian version is a bit smoother. Something that has been around this long cannot be that bad, but it might not be your cup of tea, but it is really good for you and you need to taste it correctly/professionally in order to evaluate it honestly.
