My friend owns a Pulsar 220 ( now 5 yrs old) , we have done tripling over it (100 kg, 90kg 95kg)..and that bike just kept on clicking even after 3700 KMs abuse in just 2 months. No servicing, no maintainace, it gets battered by dust, wind, rain, ( for last 2 yrs) hell, the dude did not even lube the chain. And that old bike just goes on like a race horse. Guess Indian companies knows what will work in India and thats why Pulsar rules the street. You get what you pay for and Bajaj gives you your money worth back to you. The more refined bikes will be more demanding bikes. Look at Enfields another crude bike. All they need is some repair here and therr and they just take the abuse and batter. Everybody complains about it but they forget its the ROCKY Balbaoa of bikes. People can compare it to Muhammad Ali and Tyson, but the thing is the Indian bikes can take a severe beating and perform. They might not be very techincal in their punches or defense but they sure as hell aren't going down after a beating. I hated the Pulsar series and thought they were over rated. But now I am a big fan of theirs. In India people buy bike not fpr biking byt because they do not own a car and then make the bike do whatever the car would. A KTM would have shat hard, if 3 quintals were tied over it. But that baby (220) picked up 97 without vibrations or any groaning sounds. Only three bikes can perform under this abuse. they are Pulsar 180-220, Royal Enfields and the Age Old Rajdoot. Saying with experience.
We cannot expect too much at this price point. What is offered is value for money. What is the price of a CBR 250 ABS ? Does it offers slipper clutch? LED Lights? 373 cc engine? 320mm disc? 150 section tyre?
niranjan sam CBR abs is around 10 or 20k more from dominar. Realize that CBR has higher top speed, better finish, good engine refinement, and a superb looking fairing. Can bajaj give all this even in 3 lakhs? I doubt.

My dad owns a Bajaj m80 major 4 stoke ver and I earlier used to own the discover 100 , we live in outskirts and the roads are patchy and bumpy , believe me from the last 10 yrs both the bikes gets regular abuse and hitting, still it's working smooth and fine . We thought it couldn't survive after 5 yrs , but still it's running superb . Now I own dominar 400 , the trust continues on Bajaj
the thud sound is because you throttle and change gear before the rpm comes back to 0. don't rev the throttle and change gear without reving you won't get the sound
bro if you want to switch off your abs, you can just remove the fuse of abs which is there under your seat in a fuse cluster, one of the fuse must be of abs, just remove that fuse and put it in place of spare fuses thats it and you are good to go off roading ;)
09:26 : the entire engine casing(left side) & clutch assembly cover(right side) is made of the alloy material that is used even for the foot pegs and other small fitments on the bike. It is a cheap lead based alloy which breaks easily on a moderate impact. This material is being used right from the initial models of P220 & NS200.. sadly, bajaj has compromised a bit on quality even for this new model.

That tthak sound comes due to the fluid drag between the flywheel and the clutch pressure plate. The fluid drag makes them spin at different speeds and restricts accurate engaging.
The thud sound is how well the gears engage with the engine main PTO. Honda is very good in gear mechanism. Its butter smooth where as even Yamaha still lags in this department.

Plastic fuel tank... how safe is that? If you meet with an accident won't it be very vulnerable to ruptures and fuel spillage? Also won't a ruptured tank mean higher repair costs compared to just a possibly dented metal tank? I know it would depend on the force of the impact and that a metal tank can rupture too but a plastic tank sounds a bit more flimsy...
Its just the unnecessary wraps made out of plastic not the fuel container. Besides, there are thousand composite plastic available and some of them are as strong as steel. LOL. Do not imagine plastic means bisleri bottle.

Abs switch off button is dangerous, when we got habitual to press hard the break to stop bike quickly because of abs.if we switch off the abs at anywhere and mistakenly if we press the break hard then it can be dangerous.
that thud sound even my friends dominar has it...so i did lower the idle rpm to around 1200 ( initially it was around 16-1800)...now its much less but yet it exists !!
Bro i have the vibration on the tank panel that is the secondary display part and it irritates me alot while riding and it starts from the range of 3k rpm to 5k rpm and cant it be fixed and done the odo about 1800 and the chain is hitting the rubber part that is on the chassis whenever i go into a pot hole and this is also irritating any solution ?

Problem mera hai ki jab 6 number gear pe gaadi chalata hun tabhi agar mein thoda sa accelerator slow karke phir se bike ko pick up deta hun wohi 6 no gear pe tabhi mere ko mahsoos hota hai ki mera bike ko jese mein 1 year hogaya ushko khana nahin diya hun aur 6 no gear pe woh chalne keliye raaji nahin hai jese ki pura kamjor hogaya hai power nahin hai bike mein jese ki pura khatam hogaya hai power etc.. Esha hi feel hota hai mere ko bahut baar mahsoos hua so kuchh solution hai aapke paas toh bataye
bro that thud sound normal since its 373 cc single cylinder bike... the thud sound u hear while engaging 1st gear is normal dude... ride a Harley Davidson or ducati.. you will experience same thud sound

But if you planning for long distance touring then you can go for the Dominar. Duke has got better quality, better power, lighter weight...

I own a 2016 thunderbird 350..run 17k km...am thinking of getting the Dominar as I tour at times.... would u recommend me changing my RE with dominar....but I'm afraid that since its a bajaj it's quality could be bad.....not that the RE is a very good quality bike.. I've always faced many issues with the Thunderbird...and my bikes warranty is about to expire...but I'm getting very good resale value for it....kindly advise...for the record I'm 6 foot tall 85kg bodybuilder. ..

The thud sound is unavoidable because that's how sequential transmissions work. First gear has a very high gear ratio so the difference in engine speed and transmission is very high. Almost every sequential transmission will have this sound. On another note, tingling vibrations are the worst. I hate the numbness from riding around for more than an hour

Hi, just wanted to know if there is an issue with the fuel gauge in Dominar. Heard there is a big time error in calculation of fuel and the gauge is only 60% correct. Few of my Pulsar 200 frnds too said that all bajaj bikes have this problem.

jaidev sahoo dominar is not at all meant for rough use. considering the bike ur using now,, upgrading to a higher cc bike sounds good but u shud strictly select the bike according to ur usage.. Duke 390 might be a better option for you..
Bajaj ki gadi agar 3 saal bhi showroom mein kadhi rahe rust lagna hi lagna hai aur nut bolts apne aap khulke girne lagenge aur paint fade hona hi hona hai. Excellent and mavellous engineering of bajaj.
if Bajaj only kept true to the product quality the showed 3 years ago it would have been nice. but if you look at this bike in the markets it feels very cheap. would have been better to pay a bit more for better quality

drakomal55 the fuel tank is made out of metal but the cover it plastic. Plastic is easy to mould and cheaper to manufacture

Bulu bhai ek baat batayi ye mein dominar purchase kiya February 14 ko so jab se bike cahala rahahun ek problem baar baar face kar raha hun aur sabhi bajaj showroom mein bhi dikha chuka hun but koi bhi problem solution nahin kar pata hai aap ke paas kuchh achha idea hai toh bataiye plz.... Problem mera hai ki jab 6 number gear pe gaadi chalata hun tabhi agar mein thoda sa accelerator slow karke phir se bike ko pick up deta hun wohi 6 no gear pe tabhi mere ko mahsoos hota hai ki mera bike ko jese mein 1 year hogaya ushko khana nahin diya hun aur 6 no gear pe woh chalne keliye raaji nahin hai jese ki pura kamjor hogaya hai power nahin hai bike mein jese ki pura khatam hogaya hai power etc.. Esha hi feel hota hai mere ko bahut baar mahsoos hua so kuchh solution hai aapke paas toh bataye

bro that thud sound normal since its 373 cc single cylinder bike... the thud sound u hear while engaging 1st gear is normal dude... ride a Harley Davidson or ducati.. you will experience same thud sound

Duke has got better quality, better power, lighter weight...

would u recommend me changing my RE with dominar....but I'm afraid that since its a bajaj it's quality could be bad.....not that the RE is a very good quality bike..
I've always faced many issues with the Thunderbird...and my bikes warranty is about to expire...but I'm getting very good resale value for it....kindly advise...for the record I'm 6 foot tall 85kg bodybuilder. ..

The thud sound is unavoidable because that's how sequential transmissions work. First gear has a very high gear ratio so the difference in engine speed and transmission is very high. Almost every sequential transmission will have this sound. On another note, tingling vibrations are the worst. I hate the numbness from riding around for more than an hour

The thud sound is there in any bike above 350 CC (high-power ) even in Duke ..
use motul engine oils. 300v factory line. you will see the difference in vibration.

jaidev sahoo dominar is not at all meant for rough use. considering the bike ur using now,, upgrading to a higher cc bike sounds good but u shud strictly select the bike according to ur usage.. Duke 390 might be a better option for you..

if Bajaj only kept true to the product quality the showed 3 years ago it would have been nice. but if you look at this bike in the markets it feels very cheap. would have been better to pay a bit more for better quality
