    I'm 82, a AFM and AMA flat track and road racer still at it building classic road racers here in Hawaii. Loved to see the line up and the Kawasaki 900 caught my eye. I mdon't ride any more because I'm in a wheelchair after some strokes, but that does not keep me from building them back to the glory days of road racing in the 60's and 70's.

      I'm in a wheelchair building classic racers, I don't ride anymore. I would like to and I think I can but if I crashed it would be very bad so I just admire my work and it keeps me busy

    After watching all your videos on the new bikes coming out this year (and a few other channels too), I put my deposit down for an XSR900 early last week. I loved the outgoing model, but the new one just grabbed me (seat hump and all), so I just went for it. I have no doubt that I won't be the least bit disappointed when it finally arrives in June/July time this year. I'll be sure to keep an eye out on your channel for any further content on it in the mean time

  • @Jaffa1951

    Another bike that should have made this list is the Moto Guzzi V9 Roamer or Bobber ( personally I like the Roamer )
    Thinking of getting a reasonably priced retro bike in the spring and, at the moment, it's between the Street Twin and the Roamer, which was updated this year to give around 65BHP. Air cooled ( nice and simple ) and shaft drive ( zero chain maintenance ) But still I can't decide. Need to do a test ride, or two.

    I'd go for a Triumph Speed Twin any day and if price was no object, I'd still go for the Speed Twin. I'd put on the Ohlins front and rear shocks from the Thruxton, a set of Vance&Hines or Akrapovic exhausts and call it a day.

  • @Sergio_Math
    @Sergio_Math 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    Some years ago, I'd dream of having a CB1100, an Urban GS, a Thruxton RS... Now, as years go by, I want them less and less. I'm rather happy with my Interceptor 650. I have had the opportunity to upgrade, but I seem to always go back to it. I tested a Ducati Scrambler, an Urban GS and also a V7. ALl fantastic bikes and I have nothing against them, but where I live, those bikes cost at least twice as much as the Interceptor, but definitely don't feel like they are twice the bike. Well, that's good news for my wallet then!

That points at Moto Guzzi and BMW ,, It would be an R80 BMW (with a new version of an Earles fork) if it was still made ... The R nine T is still in my sites .. That Ducati 1100 is a class act as is all the Triumph range .. I would own a Trident for a 3 month run just to get used to it and give it away (if I was a flash B .. :) Same with a Yamaha T7 ... What a wonderful time to love motorcycles .. We do need a new category of bike .. One with medium power that runs on low octane with amazing shocks for crummy roads Great brakes and shaft drive . Medium price is ok because it would last forever say $15 K .. Funny I think I just described a 1979 R80 ... :)

Bring the engine up on power stroke then kick while pulling the compression release!! LOL If you missed it, and it back fired, it would take a divot out of your leg with the kick lever!! The only one with clip-on (a truly retro touch), a magnificent engine V-Twin, excellent build quality (the only japanese brand that manufactures in Japan), way cheaper than a Ducati or a Triumph. It's not the most retro shaped, but it definitively has a clear retro 70's style.

    Money no object, I think it’s got to be either the Speed Twin or the goldline T120. But for my actual hard earned cash, it’s the Kawasaki Z650RS, I ordered one as soon as they were announced! Ordered on the looks! I was already considering a Z650 or Ninja 650, so the RS was an obvious choice, I had been eyeing up an XSR700 as a happy Yamaha owner, but the looks just don’t do it for me, the new XSR900 looks even worse in my opinion, I appreciate they are going for something in their looks, but with the sharpest Japanese sports bikes, their modern retro and naked range just don’t look as good. I would really love that BSA, but I doubt it will ever be imported to Hong Kong, we don’t even have Royal Enfield here now.
    Have you heard of the Brixton 1200? A bit of a T120 competitor on a budget that was also announced for next year.

    New to channel; nice one!!. For me personally the 'retro choice' here is the Z900 SE...Probably biased as I owned a 1976 Z900 back in the day..

    I’m old enough to remember when the originals these retros are based on were new 😳….if I’m spending someone else’s money I’d pick the Suzuki Katana, but I’m saving my money with the hope the new BSA Gold Star comes in at reasonable price 😉🏍👍. (I have a soft spot for big singles….or maybe they’ve just rattled all my brain cells loose over the years🤪!)

  • @kostasjezuz4846
    @kostasjezuz4846 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd probably go for none of the above, I'd go for a lightweight single with real retro looks, something like the SWM Gran Milan, the Fantic Caballero 500. The Brixton Crossfire 500 is also a nice small twin. If I had to choose from the list, the Ducati Urban would be the one I'd go for.

    I really like the look of the Katana, and I like the Triumph Bonneville range. I know the xsr900 is a fun bike. I got to ride one a few years ago and I enjoyed it immensely. I don’t care for the styling, however. Personally, I think the Honda CB650R is the best looking retro. I could stare at it for hours. I am disappointed that you didn’t include it or it’s big brother, the CB1000R.

      Cb650r is very beautiful but it is not retro. It has so many modern touches and the only thing retro in it is the round headlights. But i agree! It is beautiful.

    Do not need any more power than a V7 or an Interceptor, but being on the wrong side of 50, the only bike in that entire list that looks anything like the true origins has to be the Z900. No way i would spend that kind of money though. Bikes have become expensive toys rather than alternative transport.IMO. Keep up the good work.

  • @GapBahnDirk

    Clearly the interceptor 650, with money left over for aftermarket silencers, YSS shocks and fork kit, flyscreen, DNA air filter etc. All the power I need for road use and great sound.

    For me if I’m going to go “retro” it’d be something that’s actually still pretty old (read: simple) and inexpensive (like a used Yamaha SR400, for example). Easy to work on yourself, don’t feel bad taking an angle grinder and a welder to it, and even after heavy modification you could have two for the price of one. My current bike is 1900cc and for the same price I could have three used retros and cash for modification… makes me often wonder if a 250, a 400, and a 650-1300 ish used retro would be cooler to have than one new modern bike with a GPS and a bunch of features I can’t fix tweak or work on in any way whatsoever.

    Easy for me.
    The retro 900 Kawasaki.
    I remember when those bikes came out.
    Still some of the most beautiful styling ever put on a great ,powerful,reliable motorcycle.
    Now it's water cooled and fuel injected.
    So much better.

    If money is no object then of course Triumph Seed Twin will be the ultimate choice .
    But if i have to buy one then the Street Twin EC1 edition looks very good.

  • @Supercruze

    Money no object, hands down for me would be the new Triumph Speed Triple RR. Simply gorgeous with performance to boot. Fills the niche between a naked and a true sport bike. More budget oriented, I would have to go for the Triumph Gold Line Thruxton RS. I would love a Speed Twin Gold Line if the suspension components were on par with the Thruxton.

    I'm a bit biased so won't pick the 1200 Scram. So I'd have to say I'd probably go for the Z900RS SE as it looks really nice but I was also taken with the Ducati Tribute Pro when I looked at it at Motorcycle Live.

    I'd go for the RE Interceptor if *I* had to pay for it, and the RE Interceptor if *YOU* paid for it, too.
    The reason is cost of maintenance, insurance, and protection from theft - which I assume I'd have to pay for.
    The Kawasaki Z650 is tempting, but those wandering down pipes are just too ugly.
