It had a cheap yak for six years, I finally found what fits my style of fishing in Texas and Florida. The trolling motor is the best option I've purchased!!!!! That thing is awesome.
I enjoy all your videos but this one might be my favorite over the years I’ve seen you grow (and grown with you)- back to the roots, showing how the journey typically starts. Where there’s a will, there’s a way! May God continue to bless you!
I've been using that exact kayak for 6 years! Glides through the water, lightweight, and can get super skinny in the marsh. Thanks for the awesome videos.
I started kayak fishing in southern california about 17 years ago. I did it simple for a while, just a rod or two, a couple of tackle trays, and paddle out to the kelp. but invariably you start buying all kinds of things and next thing you know it's a major production. good video to remind us that it's the simplicity that is best.
Mark, that was a major departure from your usual fishing platforms, but like most of the time, you continue to produce nice catches! Thanks for bringing us along, take care and be safe!
Skinny water paddle boats....man that brings back memories. Still the best flats boats you can use in my opinion. Paddle craft are just so much more efficient in shallow marsh settings, and more quiet due to the hull shape. Love those narrow platforms, especially in the 16' variety. We use to stand up and pole all over back lakes south of the Christmas Bay area back when I had a good back, lol.
I’m trying to head out on my first time on a kayak . I’m in Pasadena, getting my first lures as well . Tired of dead shrimp . Great knowledge from your channel !
God bless you my brother, love your videos looking forward to getting out there to catch some fish. Drop by and see me when you're in Galveston. God bless you 🙏🙏🙏
man ive been holding off on getting a simple cheap kayak in order to save up for a nice one thats atleast 2 grand, but you sure are making me realize im missing out while i wait for that to happen. Might just get me a simple kayak for now.
Hello Mark, Thanks for sharing your adventures. I am at the end of my fluorocarbon leader material, and I was wondering, in your products listing, you recommend Seaguar InvizX Freshwater 12# but state you're using 20#... also is the reason you're using freshwater version because it's more pliable but still abrasion resistant.
I’ve used 8, 10, 12, 15, and 20 lb. The invizx fluorocarbon fishing line is very durable. I don’t see any issues with it that makes me want to switch to actual leader line. There’s a lot more bang for my buck using the invizx.
Would you ever recommend going back there on an inflatable like bote or similar, for us that don't have the room to store a big plastic boat. Love the vids keep em coming.
Would be interesting to see if anyone out there that does it. My main concern is the razor sharp oyster during low water conditions. If I ever have a chance to review an inflatable, I’ll jump right on it.
@@bleedthemachineband ya the oyster is my big concern, is it easy to see the oyster beds to avoid them or do they sneak up on ya. I was thinking too, with some that are peddle drive just keep the drive down so you have to stay in at least that deep of water.
@@kevinmitchell4446 I've actually raked against them several times and never had a problem. Of course I try to avoid it but the inflatable material seems to have a little bit of give to keep it from biting and cutting. Everyone's results May vary but I've been doing it for about 3 years now with no problem. The only issue I have using an inflatable really is the wind tends to push you around a lot more so you get pushed off spots a lot faster than a traditional kayak or paddle board.
Nice video Mark. What kind of wind did you have that day? Been wanting to take mine to that location, but last time I went out, tried to get to Offats and the 10-12 mph wind kicked my a$$ with the paddle.

I think we all go through that phase, at some point it's good to go back to basics.
I call it "BUDGET YAKING". Best way to start the journey & enjoy the adventure🤙🏻
You got it! 🤙
@@MDLRFishing I would like to try the fishing location you were in? Is that local area in Galveston?
Yes
Mark, that was a major departure from your usual fishing platforms, but like most of the time, you continue to produce nice catches! Thanks for bringing us along, take care and be safe!
Always appreciated Christine.
Gracias Marc! Now onto Stones Bay, wish me Luck. Fish on brother!!
Good luck out there!
Plain and simple yes sir💪🎣
Glad you liked the video!
Back to the basics!!!👍🏻
It helps to keep things in perspective.

Totally agree, standing and poling in shallow water is the best.
Just bought a Pond Prowler 8, going to start off in fresh water first. Going to target Crappy and Flatheads. Been over 25 years.
Good luck!
Thank you for the insight- I would definitely be on a budget so this is great advice and intel - tight lines - Respectfully PuraSal Angler 🙌🏻
Tight lines to you too!
Good for you Mark, Get more people out.

Best of luck on the maiden voyage.
Nice day out cool weather maybe a flounder next time
That would be a great catch!
Going back to basic, refreshing
Thank you 👍
Flounder has been spotty this year for me
Me too but I’m not losing hope. I’ll intentionally fish for them with live bait soon.
Saludos amigo 👍
Thank you Marvin.
Great video love thatr kayak 8 hope is not expensive
It’s one of the cheaper ones on the market 👍
lol, another great video. Thank you. I feel your pain though. Really want a kayak or small boat but have two bad knees and don’t know what to do.
It can be tough to get around, but having a fishing buddy can help with the unload and loading process.
God bless you my brother, love your videos looking forward to getting out there to catch some fish. Drop by and see me when you're in Galveston. God bless you 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you! 🙏
I have a Dagger Cayman from 1997 still in use.
Those are tough kayaks!

Where is this? I don’t want a put my yak in open water. This looks safer
The beach is good right now you shuold make a vid there next
Thanks for the info 👍
Wow! 🤣😂🤣😂 this is why I will never be a TH-camr, I just ain’t that mad at em anymore. Great video as usual 👍🏻
Thanks for the support!😂👍
What are you using for a push/stakeout pole?
It’s a Power Pole micro spike that’s cut in half.
Do you have trouble fishing in that grass with buggs lures? They have a weed guard but it seems it would still catch the grass.
Yes, even with the weed guard, I bring back a large salad for two.
Nice video buddy, is that a hoggie paddle tail lure your throwing?
Yes it is!
So windy today I got one bite,a small Flounder,no big ones yet,I worried, November is getting near
Hang in there 🤙
@@MDLRFishing been rough this year,I start getting Flounder in September,by October they be moving south to Dike, Galveston, this year is bad

I do it all the time on my inflatable paddle board. Never had an issue. Just but extra aware of water depth.

Mark where you are parking you truck on that tiny road?
On the shoulder.
Where is this spot located? I assume near galveston? I want to try it out, I recently purchased a kayak
I have the report published on my Patreon 👍.

Perception Pescador 12
How much is that kayak see if I can afford it.??
Approximately $700

What brand kayak is that?

Perception Pescador 120, at least an early version of one. Basically it is the old Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120 platform.
You’re not 50 😂
Tell that to me after you spend 6 hours on this kayak 😉
