I’m very new to ACC but have played realistic racing games like the F1 series in the past. Struggled driving the Porsche GT3 until I found this video and tuned my settings. This is what works best for me as a beginner,
Dead zone-0
Speed sensitivity-68
Steer filter-90
Steer speed-65
Steer gamma-2.3
Steer assist-disabled

My house was broke into..my desktop, pedals, wheel, spare wheels, basically everything that involved simracing was stolen, luckily my laptop was with me in bed. I have been trying to use th gamepad with my laptop, your setup with gamepad made this possible, by far the best gamepad setup I have tried, many thanks😊

Excellent work. Great to see some ideas which work around the limitations of the controllers. Thanks to you I just did my fastest lap ever around Monza. Watkins Glen is another story... I think the track on my Xbox version is half a mile longer than the PC version. Thanks again!!!

Speed sens: 50%
Steer filter: 81%
Steer speed: 55%
Gamma: 4.0
Very new to the game, I am matching your controler times so its good fun can have a decent race with the second half of lobby but…. to be competetive wheel is a must imo

I play this game solely with the game pad. I don't understand why peeps say this game unplayable with a pad. I have taken some time off from playing this game as im really enjoying F1 22. Can't wait to jump back on this game.
When the game came out it was unplayable. Now its amazing
Interesting, how would you compare the driving experience from F1 to ACC, is it just as immersive with a pad? I think the f1 games are great with pads.
@@danielm978 acc on the pad is amazing if I’m being honest and feels better than f1 you feel way more connected to the car and doesn’t feel like one slightly late or early input can throw you off completely any more yu would like to know?
I just started playing ACC coming from FM it was definitely a challenge to get adjusted to the controls. A lot of the controls don’t make sense and the car drives weird. Have it fixed now thanx to these videos
can you win online race with gamepad?
Just got this on series X, it’s incredibly good, even on the pad,literally cannot play forza now

It’s probably the only racer available at this time that successfully translates what I’m doing to what I’m seeing, it’s actually amazing how many racers fail that test, pCARS and Forza being main culprits of this

Thanks! your settings and setup tips really helped me actually be able to get around the track on pad. (I use a wheel normally but who knows when the next update will re-brick our wheels again.)
I did turn off steering assist, because I tried driving without doing much steering and I realized that setting was actually doing most of the work and my inputs were more or less placebo. With it off I Immediately lost control but once I found the right steer speed (I use your settings but steer speed at 89 I think) I felt much more connected and could stay on track, (5 ish seconds slower than with my wheel but I’m sure if I wanted to I could make up that time eventually. )

Yeah I sometimes have the option when I’m working away to play the game but it will only ever be with a pad.
Thought I’d take the time to find something that worked to some degree.

Having Steer assist enabled adds some ballast to your car (is it 20kg ? not sure anymore...) and also unfortunately diminushes the effect of any of the other settings you might be trying to adjust.
Also to explain what each one is doing :
- Speed sensitivity : it changes how much steering input depending on the speed of your car, at low settings the difference is minimal, but the higher you go, the more you need to turn to have a similar rotation. In other words if you raise it, you reduce the possibility of just going straigth to 90° at 200mph, allowing for smoother control at high speed, often called linearity in other games.
- Speed filter : how sensitive is your steering to your input, the higher the value, the more movement you have to make, especially affects quick left-right movement : slow chicanes.
- Steer speed : how quickly does it take for your wheel to reach the requested position by your stick, the higher the faster. Kind of like dampers.
- Steer gamma : basic sensitivity.

- Steer speed : 100
- Steer gamma : 2.3

nice video. I went back on acc set my pressures and got 49.9 on pad (og xb1) with steer assist on but it really slows you down. I tried to run without steer assist and change the settings but I think the steering input is fundamentally flawed(for controllers), every other sim I have managed to dial out the twitchiness and be quite fast but not acc. Maybe if steer assist had a slider scale it would be better.
I know it's a proper SIM but there shouldn't be differences of seconds per lap between different input devices in my view.

is the trick to getting the buttons to map?? I can't seem to get any buttons except the A, B, X, Y, and paddles to register? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again and keep up the great content!
Cheers buddy… Thanks for the comment. As far as button mapping goes I’m sure it’s only the buttons on your wheel or controller that are mappable.
Loads of buttons work on the keyboard but you can’t map any of them.
Just use the F2 key to bring up the list of all mapped buttons.
When mapping buttons on your wheel you just press the A button on the selection you want to adjust and then press the button you want. Does this work for mapping your wheel buttons?

Nice one… I’ve seen some really quick guys recently using the controller. I guy I was racing just yesterday was hitting high 1:47s at Monza in the McLaren. I was amazed when he said he was using a controller.
@@jaysysumakaRatMaster3 i played project 2 with controller no problems ,i had to find settings (controller) but ill look in to your car settings too even with a controller it has an intense feel (in car) to it

I always wonder how people can drive with gamma. :) I kills me. I just can't anticipate how much the steering wheel will turn when I push a little more. Speed sensitivity is a great setting, I have it around the same. Also, you can maybe tweak overall stick sensitivity in the Steam controller settings.

Cheers bro & thanks for the comment glad I could help… not sure about the settings you’re after… guess I could take a look later. I prefer to run my resolution at 1440p and 120 FPS… not sure if it actually helps but I think it runs smoother than at 4k.

What is the bind called that you use to select if you want to repair or not repair your car while in pitstop?
I’m sure you’re talking about the MFD menu that you can cycle which pops up on the bottom left of the screen.
In this menu you’ll need to move up and down to select items you wish to change or cancel during a pit stop.

Just grabbed ACC on sale. Man you make it look so easy with the gamepad !!! 😅 I tried a lot with the 911 and could only get 2:07:58. I am really enjoying the game and trying to improve bit by bit trying to find the right gear and speed for each corner. But I wanted to know how you are getting that much traction because in my case the car tends to loose grip when cornering on the 2nd gear at around 100- 120 kph
Try increasing your TC settings in the car setup menu or on the HUD MFD.

Considering that you dont use controller often and are not used to driving with it - id say you proved that if you practiced more and got comfortable - you could compete with the wheel no problem.
Yeah you can’t beat a wheel and pedals in ACC but I’ve certainly seen some good drivers using a pad.
Just want to add you’ll have much more control if you tilt the joystick forward and turn by rotating the stick along the top arch, rather than sudden left to right snaps. It’s pretty game changing.
gamma makes hue difference it feels like the wheel is heaveier on the 3.0 and 1.8 it feels like its easier to turn the wheel
Steer Assist corrects spinning out - it's horrible and intrusive in my opinion. You can't feel when the back end starts to step because it dulls the feeling of the car on track and thus the ability to drive on or near the limit - imo. It used to be penilised by adding extra weight to the car, not sure if that is still the case. Steer Speed is just how quickly the steering wheel animation is on First Person view
Do you get any feedback when braking/accelerating? I don't get any, and the feedback in corners is minimal.
In all honesty I never use the control pad to play this game. I just created the video to show it’s possible to still play the game with a controller.
I’m not sure what could have changed with controller settings since moving to 1.9.2.0
Happy New Year. Was it a bumpy heli ride to n from? Have you tried PC3? Its £15 now is it better than FM7?. Been racing DR2 Rally Cross n FM7 lately. ACC is still crashing for me after 5 mins .
What platform do you race on? Series X here and still getting crashes and fps stutters, such a shame as the game is fantastic when it actually works properly.
That’s crazy guys… I’m on series X and haven’t had a single game crash since the update.
I’ve had it freeze once where I was caught in a menu after a race but not a game crash.
Have you checked to see if your Xbox operating system needs updating?
Chilli Soup… PC3 looks shockingly bad and will never be tried in my console till the day I die.
All I can say is wait for Forza 8. I doubt it’ll be everything we want it to be but I’m sure it won’t be unstable.
@@jaysysumakaRatMaster3 as far as I’m aware the Xbox OS is up to date but I’ll check next time I load it up, even did a fresh install of ACC which seemed to solve things for about an hour but then had a crash after doing one qualifying lap around Spa.

mine : dz 0, speed 85, filter 0, speed 100, gamma 3, assist enabled.... I get 148.4 here
Why are the animations when i play with controller? Whenever i move the joystick the driver moves the steering wheel really fast and i can drift very easily please help.
Just use the settings in the video… I don’t really use the view with the hands and steering wheel. The settings in the car also make a difference so make sure you watch the full video.

Anyone else have this problem on xbox? For few days i had to reboot after every race because my controls would reset and wouldnt load again. Now, after changing some keybinds on my controller, my settings wont load at all, almost certain that its reading my controller as a steering wheel and i cant get anything to change, at all. Ive deleted everything, even my controller presets, still nothing.. cant play if i cant steer

I stopped ACC and gone back to Forza..
ACC is undriveable with controller and i do not want to waste my time for such a silly thing as controller settings.

I don’t use a controller at any point in this game but I made the effort to try for the sake of creating this video… these are my settings and this is what I use during the video.
Like it or not it’s the way my controller is setup… lol… for views… you got the wrong guy if you think I create content based on how many views each video might get.
My trigger stops on my controller stop me from using full throttle, how do I fix it boys?
I’d look at your deadzone settings or buy a new controller. Not sure if there’s deadzone settings in the controller setup menu. Hope that helps.
