Of all the landships in War Thunder, the A1E1 Independent is probably my least favorite. Whereas the other low tier heavies have some sort of gimmick with the armament, the Independent has a single 3-pounder. It is possible to club with it, but expect to get some Gaijin moments.

To be fair half the issues facing British tanks in game aren't so much historical as they are Gaijin being unable to read simple english.
I’m pretty sure it’s just Russian vadniks that do whatever they can to gimp every major nation that isn’t Russia or Germany. I think they can read just fine.

@@tigersympathiser2265 The damage model would need to change a lot for solid shot to work. Because part of the issue is that IRL as soon as there is penetration the tank is dead, the crew doesn't even need to be injured at all. Engine, tracks, transmission, hell, even just a crew member getting some spall in the arm causing a panic bail out, all of that takes out tanks irl but doesn't in game. Hence why solid shot underperforms a lot in game compared to irl.
I think the solution would be for the game to model a lot more shrapnel, like, A LOT more shrapnel, including the tini tiny metal splinters, and make the crew a lot more fragile.

A low-tier British tank you might not completely dislike and I think might be interesting for you to play Spook is the Valentine I - it's obviously very slow as an infantry tank, but the 2-pounder is still decent at 2.3, and the armour can be very trolly in downtiers or if nobody knows where to shoot you. Considering it was one of the few British tanks in the war IRL that everyone agreed was an alright tank for what it was too, it might be a nice break from the British tank suffering cycle we all know unfortunately well lol
Also I have that exact castle cutaway book still on my shelf, I read it so much as a kid and enjoyed spotting the pooping dudes lmao

I had the weirdest sense of Deja Vu when you mentioned the, “One shitting guy hidden somewhere,” in the castle cutaway books. I thought that you must have shown a preview of this video somewhere or something. Then I realized, a couple weeks ago I was talking with my brothers about how they had a game that was basically an interactive cutaway book of an 18th century man o’ war, and there was ALSO shitting people wherever there was a toilet on the ship.
These kind of video titles always give me a good chuckle.

I suggest trying the char 2c bis at top tier, it is a great troll vehicle and very survivable against Sabot rounds.

Attempt 3 of trying to get spookston to play the lvrbv 701 or the Lvkv 9040C, specially if you mention how the former currently costs 12 thousand to repair in arcade.
The black prince is just not fun to play. The nerfed cannon and it virtually can't move. Adding shell shatter they should lower its br. Otherwise it's trash. And I've owned the black prince for like 8 years
@justinkedgetor5949 Problem with the black prince is that if nothing can get through its armour, it's overpowered, but the second something can it's almost useless. Basically impossible to balance.
@@edwardking9359 it can be flanked easily by a medium tank and shot anywhere but the front and it'll be disabled or killed. It's turret sides and rear are only around 90mm flat. The rear hull is 50mm and the suspension plates are 38mm. Also any high velocity gun like the USA 76mm can actually pen the roof because of its slant and only 20mm iirc with aphe and kill turret crew. It can also barely move making a easy juice target for Cas. The hull deck is very wea at 20mm as well making it a easy over pressure target. The cannon has been nerfed 3 times I ca remember. A accuracy nerf to apds, post pen apds damage below 90mm caliber. And now shell shatter. Taking also that tigers and panthers can fight you head on coz 152mm armor flat isn't really that good for 6.0 if you don't angle. It's just waaaay too deficient in everything but armor and even then you can still be dealt with very easily. It's not a tricky vehicle to take out by any means for 6.0. If you get uptiered even to 6.3 it's buttered toast.

Hey Spook, you should play the Semovente 75/46 M43. It's a deeply overshadowed italiano tank destroyer which can deliver an heavy punch but it's deeply ignored the potential it has.

the Semovente 105/25 M43 would also be pretty funny. It's a great vehicle.
The m43 is dramatically over brd at 4.7. It should be 4.0 it's not as versatile or mobile as it's stug counterparts and has weaker effective armor over the transmission. It's 50 mm and shells go through the armor and the transmission and kill the miserable 3 man crew

@@kimjanek646 yes its low profile but it's effective armor is rather poor despite being 100mm its virtually flat. Also shooting the gun shield is a weak spot. Finally it has a 185hp engine compared to the 300hp on the formentioned tds.

I occasionally think about how, in 8th grade history when we were studying the medieval period, someone defaced one of those Stephen Biesty cut-away drawings where the annotation for "The great hall" was directly adjacent to one of those peasants that was in the middle of the act. Right on the margin of the page was a turd mid-flight and "The great ball".
Dude I had several of the cutaway view books as a kid, I loved them. Seeing that gave me a flashback to simpler tomes.

The Independent was built in 1926 making it the 2nd oldest tank in War Thunder after the Char 2 unless Gaijin add the Renault FT-17 or Mark 1 Male/Female WW1 tanks. The 3 pounder was a Naval gun hence the lower shell velocity

Try the Strv M/42 EH or Ikv 73 if you have it, only 63mm of pen stub 75 but it has 260g of TNT explosive filler. I usually bring it to around 8.7 and use it to annihilate, if you can pen something you can 1-shot it, patton tanks are especially fun to cupola tap. Also -15 gun depression let's you do funni stuff, either way much less suffering than the independant
This tank was so shit irl, that its transmission would cause its rear to split open like a banana (they later re-designed it fixing the problem, though not without considerable effort)
Edit : the rear left machine gun turret (the tall one) was meant for shooting at aircraft

I remember playing this thing before the italians were added. It was actually pretty effective. But after Italian ground it kinda became unplayable. 20mms plus the massive HE in Italian shells just wipes out the crew in seconds.
