In the above example, 40 weeks will be there which can be utilised for both theory and practicals (after deducting vacation, exam including preparation and library hrs) Maybe initially we can give 6 weeks of full theory block as the students are new to the subject of medical surgical nursing. If I am planning to give 42 hours per week then for 6 weeks it will be 6x42 = 252 hrs So the remaining theory hours will be 470 - 252 = 218 hrs If I am planning to give two hours of theory and 5 hrs of practicals everyday, then the theory hrs will be 12 hours per week. To calculate the number of weeks needed to complete 218 hrs, 218/12 = 18.1 weeks (19 or 20 weeks) If I am planning to give 20 weeks of theory with 12 hrs /week then 20x12 = 240 hrs of theory So total theory hrs will be 240+ 252 = 492 hrs which will satisfy the prescribed total theory hrs (470) So the weeks available for practicals is as follows For the weeks calculated for partial block (20 weeks), the clinical hours will be as follows 20x 30 hrs/week = 600 hrs Remaining weeks available for clinical will be 14 weeks (40-20-6 = 14 weeks) 14 x 42 = 588 hrs Total practical hours given = 588+600 = 1188 which satisfies the prescribed hours (1120) I hope it is clear Shelin...
Ii is the choice of the person who plans to select the columns. I have at first planned the Theory block, vacation and community weeks placement. I wanted my students to have medical nursing immediately after the 6 weeks of theory block. Then when calculated, I understand that 11 weeks are essential for Medical Nursing. So I selected columns from 8-12 (5 weeks). Then came the vacation, community block, theory block and so again I placed the remaining weeks of medical nursing (6 weeks - week no. 21-26) after that. I want you to be clear that there are no hard rules that columns must be selected in a similar way. Based on your institutional clinical areas or community availability, you must definitely modify your plan. I hope you have gained some clarity. Thanks for your interest in learning. Best wishes!!
Thanks for ur valuable answer mam. But my doubt isn't this. Actually i was asking that how do we select how much portion to be coloured. In this you have included 6 blocks vertically. Cell no. 8 to 13. Can we take more than 6 blocks or it depicts 6 days of week?
@@scorpion-pe7bb Each Column represents one week. Total there are 52 weeks. If i have selected cell no. 8-13, it is 6 weeks that I have selected for medical nursing. If you want, you can select more than 6 weeks.....i.e if you want to give complete 11 weeks of medical nursing, you can at a stretch select 11 weeks for the same. how to calculate, how many weeks for medical nursing, I have explained it in the video. I hope my reply helps. Still if you have doubt, feel free to ask me.
Mam how u take out the clinical weeks.. Same formula like theory formula. Recommended hours /42 teaching hours =week Week×42 teaching hours= total hours of weeks.. Like this we have to take out the clinical week and hours?

Hii mam,
How to calculate partial block by using above example. Can you explain me once..please...
Sure Shelin. I shall. I will respond within 2-3 days as I am really busy with other projects. Hope it's ok with you
Sure mam..
In the above example, 40 weeks will be there which can be utilised for both theory and practicals (after deducting vacation, exam including preparation and library hrs)
Maybe initially we can give 6 weeks of full theory block as the students are new to the subject of medical surgical nursing. If I am planning to give 42 hours per week then for 6 weeks it will be
6x42 = 252 hrs
So the remaining theory hours will be 470 - 252 = 218 hrs
If I am planning to give two hours of theory and 5 hrs of practicals everyday, then the theory hrs will be 12 hours per week. To calculate the number of weeks needed to complete 218 hrs,
218/12 = 18.1 weeks (19 or 20 weeks)
If I am planning to give 20 weeks of theory with 12 hrs /week then
20x12 = 240 hrs of theory
So total theory hrs will be 240+ 252 = 492 hrs which will satisfy the prescribed total theory hrs (470)
So the weeks available for practicals is as follows
For the weeks calculated for partial block (20 weeks), the clinical hours will be as follows
20x 30 hrs/week = 600 hrs
Remaining weeks available for clinical will be 14 weeks (40-20-6 = 14 weeks)
14 x 42 = 588 hrs
Total practical hours given = 588+600 = 1188 which satisfies the prescribed hours (1120)
I hope it is clear Shelin...
