One thing about Calus's favorite saying "grow fat from strength," he's being very literal. Cabal actually grow larger and larger the stronger they get. The largest we've ever seen was Gahlran, who was the size of a building. He's the guy that dropped the giant helmet in the video.
This is some great info! It's a common theme in media to establish a balance between light and dark/happiness and sorrow. I'm really excited to see what Destiny does with this in the future!
you joke about "manifesting their reality" but in it's essence that's literally what Paracausality is, the main power of both light and dark. it's the ability to bend and break the laws of the universe and change reality without needing direct caus and effect
Yeah, in terms of mood/ambiance, this was one of my favorite seasons. Also, a neat little bit of Calus dialogue from this season was him mentioning that all the Vex we’ve faced so far have only been their gardeners and engineers, and that we’ve yet to encounter any Vex made solely for combat.
Again though, this is Calus we’re talking about. It wouldn’t be surprising if he said that just to further persuade us to joining him, seeing as he has no evidence to back his claim.
@@atheontimesconflux7006 The lore book from Season of Opulence, concerning Calus, apparently HEAVILY hints at him STRONGLY over exaggerating his stories.
I had to do some research on this. The "O ___ Mine" is indicative that the speaker is using a kind of control magic called Anthem Anatheme. The Ahamkara (and their corpses), Worm Gods (and and their corpses), and Calus are the known users of this magic from what I can find.
@@terabellum You will soon learn a story about a guardian who completely gave his loyalty over to Calus after this season took place. There are many who suspect the guardian may not have entirely been in command of his senses while he was with Calus....
Calus is definitely one of the funnest characters. Pretty sure it will be some some time until you see him again but when you do it will be quite the return. And you are spot on with your take on his view of the universe and its end.
The phrase "oh [name] mine" mostly just means they are above you and is taking possession. Although the Ahamkara usually use it when making bargains/granting wishes to show how they have the power that is desired
Calus' VA is Darin De Paul; also Ardyn Izunia (Final Fantasy XV), Valkorion (Star Wars: The Old Republic), Samuel Hayden (Doom 2016) & Escharum (Halo Infinite).
Yo, glad you enjoyed the season. It was definitely the best of Forsaken’s. Anyway lore ramble below, click at your own risk. (There shouldn’t be any spoilers tho). Calus is probably one of the best characters in Destiny, imo. If you’re up for some out-of-game reading, I highly recommend checking out the original Destiny 2 collector’s edition lore (you can find it online) as well as the Chronicon and Confessions lore books. They go over pretty much Calus’ entire backstory (as well as his scribes’ potential future fanfiction featuring us). But the spark notes is this: Calus took over the previous Cabal Republic, a government that oppressed its people. He became the emperor and was beloved by all, but was eventually betrayed in a coup. The conspirators included but are not limited to The Consul, Dominus Ghaul, his daughter Caiatl the Princess Imperial, and his first general Umun’arath. They put him on a prison barge and exiled him to drift forever in space. There he saw a vision of the end of the universe and claims that the End spoke to him and made him its Herald. His goal is to be the last living thing before the universe ends. He recruited the pinnacles of various species and named them his shadows and sent them out to kill all of the conspirators. The four listed above were the only ones to not perish. And then he traveled to the Sol system and hangs out here. The O, [blank] Mine phrase is connected, nice catch there. I believe it’s meant to denote power over or possession of the other party, but I’d have to look over the lore again to confirm that. It’s been a while since I’ve read it. Incidentally tho, the worm gods also used that phrasing when the hive siblings first met them.
Honestly at this point the whole “oh ____ mine” is a thing all the characters who want to be mysterious and cool say Not necessarily just the wish dragons
I’m glad we whooped his butt. I can’t remember the amount of legendary shards it took me to get everything for the bad juju catalyst. I always thought he took them too make himself a new pimp cup
Fair warning about shadowkeep from someone who recently played it when I played with my new light girlfriend. Some of it is not straightforward and don’t expect to be able to play with friends whom are not exactly on the missions your on because it won’t let you.

Oh man, we've seen some intense gardener-vex already. 😩

Well even tho we didn’t kill crota nowhere near his full power he was soling the warrior vex on home turf even before he was a god

The ahamkara are actually able to talk to us, the players. They know we exist.
I actually made a little voice acting video on said exotic gear with that. 😊 love your videos!

That's cool! So then Calus is trying or perhaps succeeding in using this magic on the guardian? I previously assumed it was only an Ahamkara thing!

THANK YOU. I was absolutely losing my mind when he said it because I know it's mostly an Ahamkara thing 😅
Can’t wait for you to treat to shadowkeep, it’s when the darkness starts to really be talked about
