This is a wonderful performance of some very challenging music. The duets are great to hear but lute players know that Vincenzo Galilei was uncompromising in his arrangements of vocal polyphony, and Evangelina Mascardi not only handles these piece with great ease, but also gives each polyphonic line a distinct and shapely contour. Thank you for a beautiful performance.

In lute music, my tastes lean more toward Baroque than Renaissance, but this was marvelous, and the two duets which bookend the piece are really enchanting.

I am transfixed when listening to this performance - It is above masterful playing and something more like an artform. In gratitude, I cannot imagine this piece to be presented more perfectly. I especially note how Evangelina handles the silent pauses with graceful precision. Both musicians are masters of this art! Thank you for this.

I loved the playing and the beautiful compositions. However the constant creaking of the unstable chair was a bit annoying. John Cage might have appreciated it, but here it disturbs the beauty and purity of the musical setting.
Evangelina's right hand technique is most unusual - perhaps it is necessary in order to sound the 'paired' strings - I don't know much about this because I am a guitarist - maybe someone can inform me ? Apart from that, once again I am transported into the realms of delight by her exquisite playing which is as delicate as the rosette
Evangelina’s technique looks unusual from a guitar perspective, but it is the way most lute players do it these days. The aspect that probably stands out most is the way scale passages are played by alternating the thumb and index finger, rather than index/middle. If you ever think of taking up the lute, her technique gives you as good a model as you could ask for.
