I quite agree with your call on his abilities: he surely started at an early age, along w\a gift for string instruments. I discovered the sound of the lute in my 20s, I'm now 78 and followed the lute for 50+ yrs, and lucky enough to hear the development of people such as Robert Barto.
It's funny how there are ony 12 notes and that each second lasts the same. That's what they tell us, but a master like Mr Dunford suspends all disbelief. An absolute master, this young man.
So incredibly moving and thought provoking. The instrument(s), player and composers. We must slow down and listen more often to meaningful happenings such as this in our chaotic lives. Beautiful music from centuries ago resonates today. What does this tell us about ourselves? 🥰

Thomas - thank you so much for all your many years of study and all the hard work you put into practicing so we could all enjoy this sublimely wonderful performance.
Semper Dowland Semper Dolens - always Dowland, Always grieving -- one of the greatest pieces of all time. Played with freedom and abandon, and played exquisitely. What a performance! Thank you Thomas. Yours is a talent for the ages.
It feels so perfectly natural to hear Clapton's music seamlessly integrating into Dowland's that one really has no excuse but to acknowledge music flows regardless of any distinction of genre and time. It's the same mysterious dynamic that carries and ties together life 's joyful and melancholy moments. Some may call it destiny or fate. For me, it's just the unpredictable and yet secretly related brighter and darker hours of existence.
I couldn't understand your Eric Clapton reference until I watched until the final piece from this glorious concert. It was a lovely touch to connect the classical lute to the modern, bare bone equivalent - i.e. the 6 string guitar!
Enhorabuena joven portento. Que sigan más y más éxitos.
Thank you Thomas for taking us to a timeless and wondrously beautiful atmosphere of singing strings. You are refreshing and sensitive to the soul of our existence. Thank you for heart felt musical interpretations! Thanks Alan for introducing me to Thomas and his amazing gift of music on the lute!
The amazing staying power of this music! Could anyone from the Renaissance period have ever imagined it might be so? You couldn’t blame them if they did.
Amazing as allways master Dunford. Those lutes (the renaissance and the archlute) have a resonance and volume which I had never listened before. I'm sure that comes for your excellent and powerfull technique, from the nice acoustic of the concert hall (as you mentioned), the quality of the recording and the instruments themselves. It would be great if you could let us know who the makers of the lute and the archlute are and also the type of strings you employ (material and tension). Keep delighting us with such incredible performances! Thanks a lot
Superbe !
Anyone else here listening in the time of Covid? Beautiful and welcomed respite.
Very quiet during this covid lockdown; perfect conditions for listening to this man's magical playing
Always listening for beauty

Always the best friend to listen when I paint... Thomas sounds like reflexions of the most divine music.

Thanks Alan for introducing me to Thomas and his amazing gift of music on the lute!
Hi Don -- you are most welcome. I think Thomas gave me an extra 10 years of happy life! (As have you!)
I enjoy hearing you solo and with Iestyn Davies.
Very well played, greatly enjoyed this.
My dad used to play simplified versions of some of these tunes on his lute, as I lay listening as a child...
Your interpretation of Calate ala spagnola
is amazing ! I can't stop repeating it.
Worth staying up until four in the morning and find this by chance on TH-cam. What gorgeous musical talent.
Well done !

Melancholy Galliard... absolutely sublime. Every time I listen to it, tears come to my eyes

What an unexpected treat at the end!
Ah... Dowland, the great. And this huge talented young artist. Thumbs up. Hat off...

Magnifique! I was in your concert in Barcelona, last January. It was wonderful. Merci beaucoup pour votre art 🙏🙏
This Lute is a star, too; and, as such, it leaves one to wonder by whom it was wrought?
Amazing as allways master Dunford. Those lutes (the renaissance and the archlute) have a resonance and volume which I had never listened before. Super concert Thomas, congrats for your work!
Una auténtica maravilla. Hay que seguir de cerca a Dunford
Wunderschön!!
Superbe !
This is a wonderful and incredible performance Thomas! Thnx, I really enjoy C17 melancholy music for lute🙂

Very athletic playing, love it
So wonderful!
Fanatstic the bridge to the present by singing Eric Claptons classic
