BG3 winning GOTY is such a slap in the face of the gaming industry as a whole. It sets a very bad and dangerous precedent. Now people will expect game studios to make actually good games in order to win future GOTYs, instead of lazy cash grabs masterpieces like MW3.

I voted for Mario Wonder, but I knew Baldur's Gate was going to win. I've played it, my friends have played it, it actually made other game developers salty cause they managed to make them look bad. Alan Wake 2 deserved it more. BG3 is a perfect execution of its genre but it isn’t groundbreaking. Its story is also nothing special as it borrows from D&D lore and tropes. Alan Wake 2 on the other hand does a lot of groundbreaking design choices and moves the genre (narrative games) forward in a major way. I beat both games and was much more impressed with Alan Wake 2 over BG3 when all was said and done.
As much as I love Alan Wake 2, I do think that Baldur’s Gate 3 is much deserving for the award of Game of the Year. It makes a lot of sense for it to win because of how Larian Studios went above and beyond of making one of the best CRPGs ever made.
same here, on my end it's Hogwarts Legacy - as much as I loved that game and was happy for its success, (and was really frustrated over it not getting even a nomination/acknowledgment) playing BG3 was a whole other experience and it definitely deserves all those awards for Alan Wake, I think in its defense the game hasn't been out for long when it entered the list for people to properly experience and judge it, so maybe it might stand a better chance if it was nominated for 2024 instead? I dunno, just felt like the game was at a disadvantage in terms of timing

yep as long as you don’t spam basic attacks and expect something out of it - a lot of people treat the combat like pokemon and get bored. Get creative and take advantage of the expansive combat system
Be more creative in Bg3,for example:when you see barrel with oil or powder, take it.You can easily deal with annoying weak group of enemies with explosion, slowing them down when they step in oil. Just always look of the weakness of the enemies

It's a finished game with 0 microtransactions, has ACTUAL MEANINGFUL decisions and consequences, full freedom to tackle things however the player wants, hundreds of hours of content for just a single playthrough, extreme replayability (each class has their own unique dialogs, VERY different things happen depending on your choices). Also, upon it release, devs from other studios were going on rants about how they dont want it to set a "new standard".

I don’t think BG3 should have even been nominated it’s been purchasable at full price since like 2020. It’s not a newly released game it’s a live service without a battle pass that just released a storyline expansion. I doubt star citizen will be given the same treatment when it releases after being in development for 10+years
What? Literally only like part of act 1 was available in early access. It was more like a long demo. However it was also significantly different on release than early access- I bought it early access just a week before release. I completed EA content in about 30-40 hours. The full act 1 took me 50-60 hours then there were 2 more acts with my total playthrough of 180 hours. Your complaint is ridiculous

donating to charity is a good act and should be done when possible but using it for "clout" or an ego boost is just...wrong

Ive played buldurs gate for about 2 days now and i F#$%ing hate it.... its too much of a pain in the ass....and ive never felt so underpowered...with no hopes of grinding it out.... this game is too much damn work to be truely fun.

@@raidenakajacktheripper5988 i couldnt say the same tbh but Spider-Man 2 had the internet in a chokehold, and for a long time too even before its release, meanwhile Baldurs Gate had a lot of hype that died down a lot.
Ive also never seen any actual gameplay of it so i cant give my opinion on it too much. But i usually do when things get very popular, so thats what convinces me that these awards are slightly rigged
