My all, or nothing thinking, mainly comes from allowing myself to expressed emotions. Mainly sadness, anger, nervousness, and those emotions. I have the attitude of. I’m never allowed to cry. I’m never allowed to struggle. It’s never OK for me to be sad. It’s never OK for me to be anxious, angry, nervous, or anything like that. I only need to be happy every single day of my life.

I do this! It’s like my mind enjoys it because it eliminates all the confusing contrasting feedback that gives me a headache to sort out.
    Thank-you for this video!

I'm almost 70 and the damage has been done. At this point in time can repairs be done? I'm better with others than I am with myself, I can give to others what I can't give to me. For me to go easy on me is like saying I don't have to push myself and that it's ok to be lazy.

Whether you're 20 or 70 everyone needs to start somewhere. Maybe you can't completely get rid of the tendency, but you can take some small steps and build on them and certainly make improvements. Remember it's not an All or Nothing situation, and any little bit helps.

Essential information and reasoning for people who had a toxic or abusive parent. You're NEVER enough. You do wrong by even existing.
    Thanks ☺

I've been making it a goal to get rid of this type of thinking and I do what I can in between times with work and especially getting so busy sometimes. I remind myself that I'm not superwoman, it's okay to do the best I can, and that nothing will ever be perfect but it can come pretty close and life does have some gray areas. Videos like this help me too bc this type of thinking can really strip all the happiness and positivity from you if you don't get it taken care of and take the steps everyday to prevent it and I'm not gonna allow it to have that power over me anymore.

I started making a video on perfectionism but it turned into this one instead. Thanks for the suggestion and I'll try to get around to one on perfectionism soon.

Thank you for this wonderful video. I never realized that I have been thinking in such a manner and that it is actually a distortion in thinking until my therapist pointed out recently. To everyone viewing this video, I hope all of us work towards dealing with this type of thinking and making progress (and just as a reminder, it is okay to not completely stop this pattern of thinking immediately and slowly make good enough progress :))

This video finally helped me to name what I was feeling, it's such an extreme and feeling, that some days ago I was thinking ALL men were gay, literally EVERY MALE just because one single guy used me and came out as gay afterwards. Solving this thinking pattern can definitely save one's life
