God, I remember this game. Bought it back in 2000 for like $20, and had a blast playing it. This is shockingly one of the scant few licensed Bandai games that DIDN'T suck.

Played this game as a kid. Spent hundreds of hours playing and unlocking every character. It blew my mind that so my Gundam existed because in the US I had only seen mobile suit Gundam, g fighter Gundam, and Gundam wing. Still my favorite fighting game.

Played the game for years and never knew can I lock my favorites characters from the first game! Notably the Quebly, Zeta and The O!
The GIANT hike in power RX-78 got in this game compared to the first. I think the Gundam Hammer is one of, if not, the most damaging super in the game. It's funny that almost all MS from the first game that didn't make into the second are actually hidden in the game's code still fully playable. Like WHY were they cut? All of their assets are fully present, so space wasn't an issue.

I don't get it either. It's not a matter of only using suits from shows with an English dub (this was before Zeta got dubbed) because they left in ZZ era suits.

I had this game and I loved it. I used to play it faithfully every day after I got home from highschool. I'd play this on my PS2 and my mother would play her Casino Games on my PS1. Memories of a simpler, happier, time.

Man, that would be great. Just make it a new installment of Gundam Battle Assault. This formula was basically perfect for a Gundam fighting game. Include all the old characters who appeared in previous battle assault titles, as well as a few new ones from series like 00 and Iron Blooded Orphans.

Yeah...the zeta suits were programed into the game but they wanted the perfect square and left them off the CSS
@@Matanumi They might have also run out of time to finish adapting them to BA2s system, since you have things like Zeta's super move being blockable after the first hit which makes it borderline useless.

Hydra all the way....so OP in the first game and the Shield was better here by being able to be the only one who can block unblockable saber hits...such a defensive tall powerhouse with a limited movekit but its design was so badass- the OG gundam killer.

First you need to open 'Notepad' and copy this codes:

and save it with this name 'SLUS_014.18' now copy the note to ePSXe -> Cheats folder.
Launch the ePSXe and start the game, and after the game start .. go to ePSXe -> Options -> Cheat codes -> Enable which gundam that u want to try.

I never understood why Major Ulube pilots Psycho Gundam..
I'm kinda remember back to my childhood where i make a deadly combo for Rose Gundam and it most likely work against Gundam who don't have super armor that prevent them from stagger. I start with creating distance and use low fire ammo and create a projectile wall followed with funnel (drone). I active the drone to force them to guard while I dash and follow it with light saber to break their guard and electrocute them but sometime it may fail (Hydra Gundam can easily be electrocute as her guard against Funnel projectile is barrier that doesn't make her staggered like other Gundam as electrocute accessible when both of you in stand on ground while your target aren't staggered as she will get hit by funnel if she let her guard but you have to dash to her without Light Saber as it's not necessary when you can directly electrocute her). I double tap square to quick stab them. From here you have two option. Light to mid Gundam were able to knocked up higher when you press forward triangle to short dash stab and knock up them following with move where He jump little backward while knock them up again and thrust dash in mid air. When your position almost touch the floor press down circle/cross (i forgot) to diving kick them to make them staggered and fail to fall down. Follow it with forward circle to charge and perform move where you stab three time and swipe them twice, cause them to knocked up a little. In this phase you will stand on the ground first where you use your special attack. Heavy type Gundam are very highly to fall first before you dive kick so you have to skip to charge (forward circle). The original combo is guaranteed to make light to mid Gundam overheat no matter what. When they overheat and start to fall down dash backward to create the wall and call funnel again and start the combo again when they wake or hit the ground after quick fly
Quin Manta also have annoying combo. When she use her Grab move and toss her target to air, all beam of her Special Attack now can hit tiny Gundam as they weren't knock back to much and staggered in mid air while slightly knocked up when you position it in the right height

Fuck man this game desperately needs a tri plat re-release with the 4 gameshark suits as playable characters (maybe some buffs with them since they all suck except The O) and working online...
Common it would get traction...gundam has been in the shadows for too long and this is an underrated fighting game gem

Theyre not technically available. Theyre still in the code but for some reason not unlockable. You can if you gameshark cheat device your way.
I never understood why they didn't just keep these in the game with everybody else. Also would be nice if they followed MK 11's example as for design 2D movement in 3D and have iconic MS from every Gundam series produced and call it Gundam Battle Assault Ultra.
Iirc, the reason why Namco didn't make them playable characters in the final release was because they had future localization plans. But they remained hidden and accessible through codes because they were programmed characters from the first Gundam Battle Assault game.
However, the ONLY mobile suit that was hidden from both games is Hamma-Hamma. Strange.

Battle Assault 2 is basically a modified/updated Battle Assault 1 since it was a budget title in Japan.
Probably to make room for the "perfect square" CSS. And the Zeta suits were old and zeta wasn't the big promoted to show at the time it was wing and G
"Because of the target audience, the roster is heavily updated to mainly feature Gundams from both Gundam Wing and G Gundam. However, the Wing Gundam and several units from Zeta Gundam were removed due to future localization plans."

• There was an empty tile in Street Mode. It's a 3x3 grid but lack one in top-right corner.
• The-O, Qubeley, Zeta, and Hamma didn't make any appearence, and Psycho logically is a final boss.
• If you lose using one of 4 hidden gundams, the after-battle dialogue would show a different Domon.
This convinced me the game was unfinished...
