  • Batwing Fairing to Shark Nose Fairing Conversion
The Road Glide is the best-handling touring bike Harley-Davidson makes. In this series of videos I convert the bat wing fairing of an Ultra Limited Low to a shark nose. In this episode we give an overview of the project.

Hey Tim, first and foremost, thank you for taking the time and putting all of this together. I’m in the beginning stages of converting my 21 tri guide ultra fairing to a road glide fairing. This is going to be my winter project. I’ve started sourcing all the big pieces. Looks like others have asked already if you are willing to share the list. I fear that once I get started, there’s gonna be something that I missed. Again, thank you for all your hard work.

Fellow riders, I agree the Road Glide is the best riding Harley ever made. But please know before you even consider starting this project Tim is an electrical engineer. I think probably without that level of knowledge you might reconsider. Congratulations to Tim for loving his wife enough to do this for her. And good for her for being a rider instead of a passenger. Ride safe guys and gals.

Hey Tim, I'm in the beginning stage (sourcing the parts) of converting my 17 street glide special to a road glide. I'm in no hurry to complete this project, and will be taking my time collecting parts as i find them for the price I'm happy with. Thank you for all the time invested in making these easy to follow videos. They were extremely well prepared, I wish all TH-cam videos were this usefull. Although my level of planning and preparedness is nowhere close to yours, i am confident I cam pull this off without any major issues.
Also, I grew up watching Mr. Rodgers, even in real life he was always willing to help people. Unfortunately, I don't think he rode Harleys.

Changing the fairings is interesting as a proof of concept but wouldn't it have been easier and cheaper to buy a Road Glide and change the seat, shocks, and handlebars to fit a shorter Rider?

If we didn't have the bike already, it probably would have been a little less expensive to lower a stock bike. We had the bike a year when I started, so we would have lost a lot of money to depreciation if we had traded.

Why go back into hawk if you can do the work yourself?
Not to mention that every rider should know the ins and outs of they're machine.
Personally, because I am a tall rider I want to go back to batwing, but there aren't any forums on that :(
