A byproduct of what it does is the layering in the stage is much more defined. It requires a different mindset towards tuning as there is no L/R time alignment differential, but once you get it down it is pretty nice. It works best when you have a center that can play as low as possible, preferably into the midbass region (100hz or so). The trust all of these manufacturers have in you to basically never port holes in speakers or drive amps to their excessive limits must be greater than repeat customers that have full faith in your team to refabricate their interior in the name of high fidelity. I mean it semi-jokingly, but you've clearly created a mythic figure around pssound in the car audio community. Hi Daniel Thank you for your kind words! Yes, this system is rather expensive, but it’s still cheap compared to what some people spent on some of the systems at Euro Finals! There are at least 5-10 cars in Salzburg where they spent over €50k just on equipment! I know numerous projects Far East where the cost of equipment is over 6digits plus materials and labour costs! Having said that, knowledge and experience to install and tune have more value than anything else! If you think that you can never build big projects for clients like this, then you maybe just a step away from it! Of course you always have to show them that you can deliver first. If you’re serious about your future, then you should definitely consider the System Design and Tuning Master Class i offer and multiple locations of the world. Where do you live?
Well worth watching till the end If you need to ask the cost then you can't afford it is the old saying I do need your help sourcing the DC converter for my M4 if possible please
Hello Well, some people can’t afford, but some can, they just don’t know as it’s not like home audio where you can just add up the price tags of products. Here you have lots of man hours and material costs too. What’s the current system in the M4? How much current do we need to deal with?
Very excellent build, thinking of going this OEM style for my s400 as well. Just a question with other high end tweeter like the focal beryllium, accuton automotive that i see you use on other higher end build, why did you choose the brax tweeter.
I'm building a sq system for my daily. I don't have a location for a midrange, and don't want to cut anything. The 2 options I have are small widebands in the sails, or a conventional tweeter with a center speaker. What would the pros and cons be of each? I have a helix dsp. Thanks, and I love your work.
Wondering if the Brax ML8 fits well in the E-class like it seems to in the S-Class. I’m guessing going with the ML8 means front sub isnt wanted/needed as opposed to say going with the higher end but less beefy Accuton midbass.
If let’s say we have 20 boxes to tick for judging a system, they have some common boxes and some boxes that they tick differently, but overall they’d come close to the same overall result. The S-Class is a bit better composed and refined, but the Honda has more headroom and insane delivery on bass that you can never do with an OEM design system like the Merc. However, Merc is fully practical, whereas the Honda is far from it! 😃😂
Hi Peter i watch your channel long time ago. I search too much how I install DSP on factory amplifier I have many way to do it but i would like to know your way. Appreciate your effort Thanks
Hi Yes, we wanted to use Real Centre algorithm that Audiotec Fischer DSPs have, Zapco does not. Also, Conductor controller is way easier to install in a car like the S-Class. Third thing is reliability.
What setup would u suggest to someone who is new in audiophile experience, with no experience of how SQ system sounds like? Like something to begin as a nice setup in front with a sub in boot and approx price excluding labour for 90-95% hip hop and 5% mix of all other genres. If u have a video can u share the link? Or maybe make a video about how to start getting slowly with limited budget in these hiFi setups
SQ in Car playlist explains it well what you have to focus on. We have many projects shared in then EXPLAINED walkaround playlist where we have simple daily systems, like DSP amplifier + mono sub amp, mid+tweeters on the pillars, midbass in doors, sub at the back. That’s where it starts.
Great car I'm in the process of getting a similar question. I have one question since Focal Utopia drivers are designed for IB will the work in sealed enclosures or do I have to go with true IB kicks.
Hello Peter, have you considered selling posters of this car, like in the last photo with the lights above it? I would actually buy it and hang it on the wall as something to aspire to
The time you took to make it as close as possible to factory and that too with PS sound SQ level is very commendable. One query. How different is micro-precision DCDC power converter-stabilizer compared to AudioSolution Power block S-150. I understand that these devices go after battery and before the amplifiers for maintaining stable higher voltage. Also Do you think can we achieve similar voltage stabilization for amplifiers with Victron XS 50A DC-DC converter which goes before the secondary battery in the boot. Thanks
Audio Solution works the same, it has more features though than just power stabilisation. Victron DC-DC is not a stabiliser, it’s a charging regulator, which is a different function.
It’s also about the material you use and structural strength of the panel after cutouts. Until you have enough surface area equivalent of the cone, it shouldn’t matter.
What are your reasons to choose the S-class over 7-series? For technical reasons, will the 7-series be a good car for a SQ build over S-class? Is it noisier than S-class while driving?
Yes, it’s full OEM layout where you can’t do custom madness, but to be fair you don’t need front sub in this car. It has a pair of Brax ML8s in the furthest locations upfront mounted on the firewall. People get shocked when they hear what upfront impact we have in this car!
Hi Peter, I love your videos. I've been thinking of doing something different. I just want to know thoughts on this setup sony xav-9500es headunit focal flax evo ps165fe3 3 way for the fronts and focal pc165sf 2 way coaxial for rear and focal k2 power m sub5 boot subwoofer in mazda speed 3 mps bl 2012 haven't chosen amps
You mentioned the space for rear sub and speaker location were part of the reason for W222...between the other 3 (LS500, A8 and 7 series), which would have been a good 2nd choice for optimal for a project like this?
Well, none of them has decent space for this system layout in the trunk. Then Audi and Lexus have midbass in the door, which is not great. Lexus at least has dash location for mids iirc. BMW has midbass under the seats, which at least is more rigid mounting, but less favourable for SQ staging. So when you look at the overall system design, nothing can tick ✅ so many boxes as the W222.
@pssound9749 I have the LS500, yes there are three mid range spots in the dash and the mid bass is in the doors. I have an install I'm debating with good quality speakers and amps (Brax x4, Thesis 3 way + an extra 3inch mid, SQL 12 sub). I watched a number of your videos in particular that of the thesis install whereas the mid bass would suffer from a loss around 50-100Hz range. Do you think doing a front sub on the passenger kick area with say the Morel 10 powerslom or the focal 10wm sub could makeup for that area in addition to a single SQl 12 in the trunk sealed? Also considered running thr sql 12 in IB/Free air through the rear seat/ or rear deck for the 50hz and lower range. All on a helix ultra.
Very clean install but that sub mount is definitely not my style. I don’t like cutting holes into the cars body like that and I’d rather keep my speaker protected and away from the elements. You never know when you have to drive through a puddle of water. Never ran that equipment though. I’ve mostly ran JL Audio W6 and W7 and their shallow mount series subs. In my opinion they have the best shallow mount subs in the business. And depending of the install between JL, Focal or Morel for the mids and highs.
I could talk about this for like half an hour. Actually there is a weekly topic about it on our Patreon channel. Many things change since, technology, possibilities in system design, car interior, so many factors.
What is your opinion on center channels, using the the Helix processing? What bandwidth should it play? Midrange, full range or 2-way? I happen to have an OEM spot for a 6.5" center and 1-2 extra DSP and amp channels after 3-way front and rear-fill.
Ideally you want to cover the vocal range from 150Hz and up and same way as your L&R speakers. In this one we just kept it simple and used a Brax ML3 as a wideband all the way up it can play.
You need solid response upfront between 50-100Hz and then the rear sub just have to compliment the range below. For those music genres the front-end has to smash the tight upper bass.
Right ok. Well taking the Mercedes E class or S Class template, with say the ML8 midbass buried in the footwell, would the ML6 also in door enclosure be beneficial or just a lot of customisation for rather minor gains and making things unnecessarily more complex. Just thinking of and toying with 16 channel set-ups with Mercedes.
Well spotted! When we built the car last year few weeks before the EMMA EU Finals, we had to face that the car was challenging us greatly as it’s packed with lots of electronics throwing great amount of EMF and we had insane amount of noise on our custom cables. Due to short time we had to take all the rcas out and try pre-made Stinger 8000&9000 series and we got rid of the noises. After that i just didn’t bother to try to test new custom cables.
We get cars brought to us from 2-3000km distances. If you’re truly interested in a serious system like this S-Class, then you can bring it to us, right?
So I have an SL550 and iam slowly building a Sq system bit, more than anything g trying to learn all I can so probably to most of you some of my questions my sound silly but , I am trying to learn. Anyway , one thing I really don't like in my current system is when turned on and especially when the amp turned up with NO music playing is the hiss or white noise I hear.. Is that something with lower quality amps ? Would a high end amp eliminate this white noise. Current amp is a recoiled red 1800.5. It does over rated power and it very strong but, I just have this damn white noise. Thanks in advance guys.
First check that the gains on the amp are not turned higher than required to match the input signal. High gain can introduce more floor noise. Of course some amps have lower S/N = signal to noise ratio and can be noiser.
Hi Peter, how are the MP Serie 7 amplifier? Are they better than the Zapco amps? Do you hear a difference? What about the Brax DSP. Is it better than the Zapco HDSP with ESS9038pro DAC in terms of sound quality?
You can hear about the amps in the video, but i can also tell that it’s difficult to ask for better results than these MP7 series amplifiers. We have almost zero floor noise (difficult to achieve with most other amps), plenty of control and headroom. The system is definitely quite something with them that needs experiencing. Zapco HDSP-V sounds amazing, but we didn’t have a chance to put it side by side with the Brax, so can’t compare them like a true A/B, but it’s certainly another special DSP that fits this system on this level.
you are probably concerned that demoing your systems on TH-cam will in no way reflect how good the system sounds, but those of us that hi end audio hooked into our PC's with audiophile headphones, there must be music rights you can get to play the system. PLEASE?
Love the passion of car audio that I hear when you speak. When I talk to friends about they think I’m crazy. Thank you for all the you have shown and teach us.

Oh and how does cutting holes, especially big ones in the structure of the vehicle affect the resale value or would a dealer even take it for trade?
You can put the plate back properly, deaden it over and nobody will ever know.
How do you feel about Wave Guides I remember listening to competition cars in the late 90's?
I could talk about this for like half an hour. Actually there is a weekly topic about it on our Patreon channel.
Many things change since, technology, possibilities in system design, car interior, so many factors.
That power stabilizer is insane! I can't find it on the web anywhere. Is it by Micro Precision?
Yes it is made by Micro Precision.
How much is this dc to dc power stabilizer and where can I buy one?
I use silk teeter below the ribbon twitter and above silk dom super teetwr
Can you share a link to purchase the waterproof rain guard please.

Is a single 15'' inch sub in true IB enough? Say for playing dance or house music well/loud
I see you changed the rca cables why?
Well spotted! When we built the car last year few weeks before the EMMA EU Finals, we had to face that the car was challenging us greatly as it’s packed with lots of electronics throwing great amount of EMF and we had insane amount of noise on our custom cables. Due to short time we had to take all the rcas out and try pre-made Stinger 8000&9000 series and we got rid of the noises. After that i just didn’t bother to try to test new custom cables.
@@pssound9749 I bought the Stinger 9000 series cables largely for the looks. I'm glad to hear that they perform.

Is that the Zapco dsp? I just bought a used Helix Ultra.
This system has the Brax DSP.
@@pssound9749 Thanks I am sure I will enjoy the Helix Ultra.

Hi,
Where do you live?
@pssound9749 great 👍 job Peter your videos really get the procrastination out and makes listeners want to design and improve their systems
Wait for the new sabre dacs for the Brax Dsp analogue output cards 😉
am I the only one who hears a slight ~1100Hz noise in the background of the video?!
oh damn, 31:55 that was the car!
No i hear it too 😅
Id get a little yellow paint and clean that 6 up to look a little more like an S.

Haha then you could be chased by the police! 😂
hi, did you install mids brax ml8, if so, can I find out on which machine?
Hi, they’re the ML8MID drivers. They were not plug’n’play for this car, we had to do custom work to make them fit.
@@pssound9749 thanks for the answer, I'm looking for suitable midrange and tweeters for ml8
I would have loved another 30min on the rears

lol oh they’ll definitely know when that plate hits the ground….once you compromise a solid structure it’s only a matter of time
That plate is only for the spare wheel well, 1mm thin. Once you weld it back it’s just as strong, no difference.

you are probably concerned that demoing your systems on TH-cam will in no way reflect how good the system sounds, but those of us that hi end audio hooked into our PC's with audiophile headphones, there must be music rights you can get to play the system. PLEASE?
