    I use the Scotty 229 rod holder. It locks your rod in and it’s perfect. I use it with the short extension going out of the boat and the long extension going up . great system

    • @kckayakfishing
      @kckayakfishing  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We'll be trying the 229s out this season as well, the R5's are great for trolling in lighter currents but are terrifying with any kind of blowback. The orcas are probably the most solid that we've used, but they're also very heavy and not a great option for quickly staging a rod one-handed. We have a couple of 229s on the way and will be testing them out this season! Thanks for watching!

    Ohhhhhh, I'm jealous of that Powerbox! I love to see how others are situating their boat to fit their fishing styles. Great video!
    I'm going to try that metal rudder from Navarre that you showed. Next season, I'm looking to move away from the Laketroller downrigger, I'm looking for something with a line counter and one hand operation, like the Scotty 1060 or Cannon options. Still undecided. With that change, I'll likely use a different mounting setup and use a V-lock with aluminum plates. Also, if your looking for rod holder options the YakAttack Zooka II has been great for spinning/casting reels!

    • @kckayakfishing
      @kckayakfishing  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks man! We will also be changing downriggers, going to go with cannon behind the seat, and attach a cordless drill to it, no more hand cranking our downriggers up! As the the smaller cannons are rated for 8lb balls which could be fun! We're thinking cannon because once you start getting into bigger downriggers from scotty they take up alot more real estate on the kayaks, the vertical style of the cannons should be great for what we're planning! Thanks for watching! 🙌

    Forgot to mention, the rod you weren't suppose to show 🙂... Love to see the long butt end side. IMO all kayak rods need that as I use it for leverage under my arm, especially while sitting down or using one hand. I also like a large rubber stump on the bottom too for that leverage (but not too wide as it has to sit in rod holder). Look forward to seeing/hearing more on this WCF rod.

    • @kckayakfishing
      @kckayakfishing  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      100% that was a must for us with this rod, having a longer butt section is crucial for trapping it in our armpit while still having the reel far enough away to crank on, we're so excited about the rod, can't wait to share it with everyone!

      a.co/d/aFVs6Hi
      Telescoping from 24-48" handle and a rubber flat bottom basket.
      A little on the pricey side compared to others on Amazon. Amazon also had a ton of folding,collapsible nets that look decent but you get what you pay for we've found out the hard way 😂
      And then for Saltwater we use the Gibbs GV series nets with the 4' handle and 32" bag depth.

    How does the Pelican cart handle transport over sand and busted concrete ramps? I was looking at gallon tires but the price point on Pelican looks great. Thanks and great video

    • @kckayakfishing
      @kckayakfishing  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wouldn't recommend it for fine sand launches, our beaches here are mostly rocky so it handles them pretty well, concrete ramps it would work great, we're looking at possibly throwing some bigger tires on the cart to help with our ground clearance issues. It's a great budget kayak cart, but that's exactly what it is, a budget cart. It's a solid cart and can handle the weight of our kayaks, no problem, but if you have a lot of sandy launches, we'd definitely recommend a cart with balloon tires. Thanks for watching!

      If storing and transportation aren't an issue, then definitely the bigger 120, more room for gear as well a bit higher weight capacity.

      Hi. The West Coast spoons you are using , what series of the spoons are working best for you and which ones out of that series ? Thank you

    • @kckayakfishing
      @kckayakfishing  5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @louiseschricker9963 we use a combination of Phat-E spoons, little phat E spoons, Fish-E spoons, and the new Sex-E spoons. The patterns we primarily use for our fishing are No Bananas, Herring Aid, Irish Cream, and Blue Silver, we're always trying to match the baitfish in the water so early season the smaller Sex-E and Little Phat-Es are our Go To. As the bait gets bigger and the Salmon start feeding more aggressively, we usually go with bigger spoons, always trying to match what they're feeding on.
