Reflecting on the experience, Nadal said, “I felt grateful to Paris for having given me that moment. A feeling that will last the rest of my life for the moment and the place it was. Before going up on stage where Zidane gave me the torch, I was emotional, I didn’t want to shed a tear right there. It’s something unique, I’m very grateful to France.”
Nadal recounted the challenges of the torch relay, saying
“The Olympic torch relay is very bearable, but the boat ride was less bearable. We had a big storm, and when you’re sailing a little fast, it seems like it’s raining a lot more than it is.”
Despite the difficulties, he expressed deep appreciation for the honor and the overwhelming support he received from both Spain and France, emphasizing how special the experience was for him.
