  • Hey! Do you ever see a blank wall at a house and think that needs something? I do that all the time, especially at my own home.
I have a very large blank wall at my front entrance. It’s a main focal point and I have always wanted to do either a living wall or am espalier of some sort. I was gifted two large Carolina Jasmine (Jessamine) and my creative juices went nuts. So in this video I share with you how I conquered the vinyl siding block to create my very own espaliered focal point.

This is so brilliant! I am happy to find you and your video here to explain how to make a wire trellis on vinyl wall. Hope you can have a follow up video on how it looks like afterwards. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Thank you so much for doing this video. I have been stressing how I’m going to pull this off with vinyl siding. 😊

That is so exciting to hear. I ordered the hooks on Amazon and got lightweight wire. It’s held up really well! Keep me posted and let me know if i can help in any way.

@@thesoutherndaisyllc I definitely will. I’m actually gonna follow you on Instagram as well. I’m in Boiling Springs, South Carolina (Spartanburg). And I have Jasmine from 2 years ago, in these tall lattice pots I got from Aldi and they still look amazing. They grow so fast, so this will be perfect.

I was thinking of doing something like this for a Kiwi tree but I'll have to see how solid the hooks are. Side note, I use paracord (parashoot rope) for my grapes. It's really strong, stretch, and can hold a lot of weight and easier to use than wire. I've had it out for a whole year (full four seasons) and it's been working good. Just a suggestion for material to use. The grapes love it and it doesn't move too much when proper tension is applied to it.

What a great idea!!!!! I never thought of paracord. Where would I find it in a bigger quantity? My grapes are too heavy on the wire I have it and I was thinking the other day I need to come up with a different plan soon! I cut a ton off of mine to keep the weight down but that was painful. The kiwi idea sounds super neat, I wouldn’t have any idea on how pliable or how much it grows as I have never grown one but please let me know if you do and how it words. What a neat idea!

Janey from Dig, Water, Repeat and recommended this video for the espalier for vinyl siding. So excited to try this on my blank East wall of my house.

Kim thank you so much for sharing this. I wanted to do something like this but didn’t want to drill into my siding. This is smart and will look and smell amazing. I’m thinking I want to do this with a clematis on the side of my house. Full sun location and a very narrow bed. Love it.

So let me offer just a little bit of advice. The clematis is not evergreen and so it will not have leaves year-round I would use some thing that will even be beautiful in the winter time instead. Don’t get me wrong clematis will be beautiful if that’s what you choose just be sure you think about the year round look. I’m so glad this helped you like it helped me. Please let me know how it turns out for you.

@@thesoutherndaisyllc I’m in zone 8a, Georgia do you have any recommendations for an evergreen vine. I was telling my hubby maybe we can even use this method for Christmas lights 😀 he enjoyed that idea very much.

I added the link in my reply. I hope that works for you. They are great for siding even to hang things. I'm impressed! Thank you for asking.
