Thanks for the new nickname for my hubby… “hole-digger” 😂🤣 I’ve also been trying to persuade mine to help with this type of fence project✨ He loves that I’m creative, but that usually means more work for him…

As a "hole digger" who is in love with a plant addict, I can say that one of my best purchases was a gas powered auger from Harbor Freight. I have dug so many holes with that beast. My wife wants our driveway to be lined with Incrediball hydrangeas. That's 34 holes. I am not even sweating it. But if I had to use post hole diggers, then she would be waiting a long long time before I got around to it.

How beautiful! Can’t wait to see how it does for you.

Ivey is pretty, but it is terrible for trees, and is hard to control. I love creeping fig, but every plant has its cons. I wonder how a climbing hydrangea would look?

Is that the neighbor’s fence? It looks like it is. Did you get permission? Keep that vine in check. It can be invasive. I always wanted to try espalier. Maybe next year. 🌱

You did a good job! Not an easy task whatsoever. Pat yourself on the back!! I purchased all the materials to place a Espalier Belgian Fence (spring purchase) in my backyard but it’s been too dang HOT! (zone 8) I feel you on the mathematics. Ha! Not my strong suite. Thankfully I’m married to an engineer. ✖️➗➕➖🟰
I will check out the chocolate vine. Is it invasive? I planned to use English ivy or Carolina jasmine but heard they can be a nuisance and I don’t have time for nuisance.

I know very little about the vine, but thought i'd take a chance. I might regret it. I was afraid of doing Honeysuckle, which was my first thought. All my fingers are crossed that it's not invasive.

@@edgygardener2826we have the purple and white version. They are listed as invasive in some states. Animals will spread the fruit. The vines can get thick over time. We first saw this vine at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. It was beautiful and smells just like chocolate. We have our wrapped in a spiral around an oak tree. I believe the fruit is edible and tastes like coconut milk.
