My 5 month old daughter died recently due to a cardiac birth defect. If it were possible to get her a new heart, I would do everything to get it. I wish Best of luck to the people working on the Noble cause.
I currently work in a transplant ICU. The process these patients go through to get their organs and then recover is INSANE... Everyone that does not struggle with the need for a new organ should be eternally grateful for their health. Even after getting their organs, the medications needed to prevent rejection are so harsh on the body. They can cause kidney failure even. If this could become reality, it would change so many lives. I seriously pray this becomes a reality.
Praying for Jackie, it is exactly why I am an organ donor and would encourage everyone to become one. Beautiful couple. Bless the doctors working so hard to save lives!
I’m happy she survived and I’m 12 until the 15th of jan and i want to be a biologist or a doctor or a robotic engineer and my friend had to get a transplant for an ear because he got in a brutal dirt biking incident and he was waiting for a week and his ear (what was left of it) has gotten used to having no ear but when they put him to sleep and slit a cut where the ear was so blood came out and stitched the artificial ear to what was left of it and in the fist week it kept flopping when he moved his head but in a few weeks after that he came good and then came out of the hospital fine! And I couldn’t tell it was fake other than the fact that while the operation took place (both of ‘em) his mom took photos but he hasn’t had any issues since and me and him got closer (i mean best freinds I’m not gay not that theres anything wrong with that i mean he is gay but I’m not)its become a kind of topic to share to people and this story reminds me of that moment when i got a call from him in his hospital bed and I’m happy now remembering the memory’s of him before he moved back to Britain ik this is getting long but ill cut it short...er see ya if you read this good on you thanks for tuning in!!! BYE BYE!!!
You do, you just don't use them 100% It's estimated you can lose up to 50-70% of your kidney function without adverse effects. As far as I'm aware, thats with a single kidney, so yes. You could also become a live liver donor, they take one lobe of you're liver, and it can actually grow back. It wouldn't be impossible to donate more than once or twice in a lifetime
Your god clearly failed her. It's her family, doctors, and scientists that have been protecting her. And it's only them who will save her. It's sad you don't recognize that.
@Sam Williams Chill with the Dungeons & Dragons BS. There's no such thing as gods, deities, fairies, or dragons. And people aren't healed by magic, spells, miracles, or divine interventions. Put down the fantasy novels and video games and pick up a biology textbook.
@FroztByteGamer you are trying to disprove God with logic. The old could God create a rock that he couldn't lift spiel. Don't let some of the more simple minded people in the religious community discourage you from the possibility that God might be real. If God is real he's greater than your logic. This doesn't mean that there isn't a logical answer to your question because I'll give you one in a sec.. I understand that people have questions that deserve a reasonable answer but try to realize who you're asking and understand that every person might not be as deep of a thinker as you are. Thats not any kind of proof against God? That some people aren't as deep as you and think differently? To answer your question... its my belief that God set things in motion and gave us choice in life. Her parents made the choice to have sex and she was the product. As of now we don't live forever in this human body and all of us will die. It's a part of life. God isn't "refusing" anything as far as we can prove. We cannot prove that he does or doesn't do anything. It doesn't mean he isn't real or is/isn't capable of intervening, it just means you either have faith or you do not.
This is amazing progress in saving more people. What is the latest information on Jackie? I am NJEspinosa - Biology teacher in W. TX. Peace & Prayers :)
This would be a excellent insurance policy, you should be able to have your spare organs stored somewhere in case you ever need some, have me that spare ear everything bro
just do the greatness you have and accomplish, i pray she gets a donor, from a peaceful resource. i appreciate your work. thanks for being heroes. i apologize if to upset. God help the people and a blessed future.
There is a way to replicates biological tissues. The process involves DNA and RNA replication through Organs Cloning. But unfortunately, there are laws in place that prohibit organs cloning. Cloning it is very controversial. But I hope that someday we will move forward on DNA and RNA Replication through Organs Cloning.
Research for this needs more funding and support. If we can slash that decade before clinical trials on humans by even 5 years--it's possible many more people would be saved to live longer lives. I dream of a world where the average global life expectancy is at least 105. Longer if the science allows it.
i firmly believe organ donation shouldn't be an option. once your dead your body has useful parts. better than burying them with all of them and letting living people suffer
First: They have to make sure the created organ lives on for a human life. And the cleaning and cell growing does already take about a year to be done. Then the hard work starts as they have to put the cell mix into the cleaned organ. This process has to be a 100% sterile because the organ has no immune system to fight any antibodies. Everytime they open the jar they risk to kill the cell-growing organ. Hope you can imagine why it will take another decade to get a function organ to put into a human body.
I've always said this since I was young, sadly I was given Chemo without my knowledge to treat fibroids(have you heard of Lupron?) so I am sure I will end up with some complications down the road but yeah..I totally would 👍
Dam. I once picked up a guy who walked into my taxi with a tank of oxygen. He said his lungs were fucked up due to asbestos. I bet he didn't make it if it's hard to get lungs.
I think thats with the classical transplant ,with stem cell grown no rejection no immunosurpressent necessary but its not a mature technology yet is what was being said
I need a liver. When will new printed organs be the new normal, so people won't have to die? I would o anything not to die. I want o see my grandchilren grow up.
Because it's dangerous.... It's why you don't pay people who donate tissues, organs or fluids. You don't pay people who donate blood, because people in dire straights could donate blood, lie about their health and die due to it. By keeping it unpaid, we maintain the morality and dignity of those people who donate.... Rather though, it would be better to adopt Spain's organ donation policy, which rather than Opt in like it is in most places, it's opt out. So you're an organ donor, unless you specifically ask not to be, rather than specifically asking to be. Also families, and some really ridiculously selfish people in those families, who even against the wishes of the person whose lungs are to be donated, they deny organ harvesting.... People just get buried or burnt (or donated to science, but that's got it's own benefits), your organs which could have been donated to someone like this young woman, are now going to be incinerated or decay and be eaten by bacteria.... Just donate organs, it shouldn't even be a question.... Pretty much everyone on earth has the wish to save someone's life, organ donation can save up to 6 - 8+ DIFFERENT people. 2 kidneys - 2 people 2 lungs - 1 or 2 people 1 Liver - 1 person (possibly 2) 1 Heart - 1 person (or up to 4, if heart tissue is donated, 4 valves) 2 Eyes - 1-2 people 2 Arms - Possibly 2 people 1 Pancreas - 1 person Skin - 1-3 people There are new tissues being donated all the time as we fight to save people. You could theoretically save with the above estimation 9 - 15 people. The average is between 3-6 people though, as most organ donors die from an unforeseen accident, as the tissue or organs need to be healthy, this is where the majority of organs come from. Occasionally suicide victims as well. And although it's covered in the previous "accident", murder victims too.

I normally do not comment on videos. Great story. 18 years after my father's transplant he's still around.
That’s beautiful

God bless Dr. Ott for his passion and work in actually helping people.
Joe (Jackie's husband) is a good man.
They need to expedite stem cell research.
Praying for you Jackie
Please tell us if she received the lungs she needed and if we can help by donating money for her
There are always people in the world whom you can help with a donation. At least moraly correct if its more than words
Man this husband is a legend, he better be in heaven
You ever just take a breath and think how lucky you are to be able to do that
Please tell what happened to Jackie now
Every Prayer is for you Jackie and Joe!!! All my Love your Way. May God protect his Angel!!
does anyone know if jackie is ok? i really hope that she is and is living her life, and back being a nurse and helping others
That was rough to watch. Hope she makes it through this.
really great series. I like how theyre showing the more effective solutions to problems

Joe, you are quite an amazing partner to Jackie. I aspire to be that selfless.
I’m sure its extremely hard on you but it’s good for us all to see.
God bless you Jackie 🙏

Could you use this technique to grow animal muscle tissue(manufacturer synthetic meat )?
Hope all is well with Jackie.. to know that you might possibly not get a match and you'll pass away waiting. must be a crazy feeling

Why we humans can't invest in such noble causes instead of wars?
Growing own organs will undermine an extremely lucrative niche in the medical industry.
I want to hug Jackie so bad :’(

Did she ever get her transplant?
does anyone know what the outcome of jackie the nurse was? did she live? quite sad.
Have you found out what happend to her?
Is there a follow-up to this?
Prellis Biologics has the answer. Insta-printing organs.
Where we at now
Is she still alive?
i knew about this prosses ten years ago what is taking so long?

Update?
May Allah help u my sister..
Waiting for a kidney transplant for the last 6 years.
How are they going to finish without letting us know what happened to Jackie 😒
This is 6 years ago we are 4 years to finish one decade. I think I saw something on news about someone get organ
Did she make it?
This will happen, that’s for sure.
wait so... im not understanding. wouldn't you still need someone to donate a scaffold?
I would donate one of my lungs to save a life
I've always said this since I was young, sadly I was given Chemo without my knowledge to treat fibroids(have you heard of Lupron?) so I am sure I will end up with some complications down the road but yeah..I totally would 👍

Lungs aren't like kidneys... that wouldn't really work.
Same I would rather save a bullet for a baby because I’ve lived a good life, but a baby just started their life
Yes u can u guys got this

I hope she got her transplant
Lung disease causes by chemotherapy ? Brand new information since i am on chemotherapy

If all else fails, why don't people educate her on Cannabis oil or make Rick Simpson oil.
Regenerative medecine is one of themost exciting things going on in the universe. One day....
This good for kids that need organ trasplant....no more black market for kids organ
it would be great if in the future it would be possible to grow a uterus and cervix from your own cells...
YOU CAN'T!! BUT MONEY CAN!! hahaha get it
Challenge of having to take drugs forever so that you don't reject the organ
If we could create all these organs, couldnt we eventually create different species and artifical humans at any stage of life possible?
what happened to jackie???
why r these MDs stealing biomedical engineering jobs like bruh stick to cutting out appendixes
Based take
The video editing on this is awkward
Y'all showing us this but people still dying everyday were is the action
If its they're cells why is it being rejected?
69wertepny probably because your body still sees it as a foreign object

Great what scientists are doing and the truly important thing in the world science!
You can go to mon bat don't make afercician organ
Stop smoking
can she sue the chemo company for damaging her lungs
No, because the chemo did exactly what it was meant to, it killed cells.
Otherwise she would have died from cancer when she was 19
+Dogus
Well, that isn't certain. People do survive and fight off cancer naturally.

T w H investors on wall street that would think nothing of losing a couple million on a bet.
