    I have a 2000 CR-V and it's white. This needs to be re-released

    It’s actually nuts what the RD1 CRV is capable of off-road. I’ve got a 2000 in electron blue pearl. 226k miles and runs like a top and I’ve driven it down trails I’ve had no business being on. Good tires are crucial. But yeah the thing just plows through mud and snow. Saw this thumbnail and got excited but that’s too bad they haven’t released it because these RD1s are starting to become classic little rigs that are both surprisingly capable and reliable

    I've been hunting one for quite a while to. I have a real one. 2001, lifted, 4x4, tons of mods, and no rust. My kid built it for me from Arizona. I think I have you on messenger. If so I'll show you some pics. And 2 odd factory options were picnic table in the back and front n back seats turn into a bed for camping.

    Beautiful, I so want a CRV body for my cc01 touareg 😁

    That platform suv was based on the civic chassis, modified to hold a rear independent axle to make it all wheel drive. Or 4x4 as they called! Plus Honda put larger tires and lifted the suspension bits to make it more like an suv. But they did also came as a front drive suv too! Now that Tamiya Honda CR-V would look better with all wheel drive independent suspension! Too bad they didn’t do it that way from the start! It would have made it more realistic and authentic. Nice find though! I think you can do something with that one!👌😎👍by the way! That other chassis you tried with the independent suspension and lowered, I think would look great! Looking forward to seeing what you have planned for it!😎👍

    My god. It exists. It's not just a fever dream.
    I'd love to have a 2nd gen facelift CR-V body to do something stupid with, as my mother has a 1:1 version and it's a comfy car.
    But funnily I see huge amounts of super plain CR-Vs of very generation up here in montana, 90% AWD ones. Only FWD one I see often is my mom's.
    Of course I do wonder if someone could make a mold of the body so reproductions could be made at somepoint, as I do doubt Tamiya would ever re-release these.

    Put it on a LCG carbon chassis and make a wicked crawler not trail if it could be done without hacking that body up. Or I'm also with u on slamming it and letting it lay frame. And giving it some wicked 90's lowrider magazine paint job. U could get some of those press on tats that u use to apply with a wet rag to the skin, with some skulls or some kind of wicked jester or MidEvil pics. Stick that into the paint job it would look like a scaled down airbrush job. As long as u got the kind that looks like it was drawn with a pencil or just tatted in straight black ink👍 Then go over it and ur paint with a coat of clear and it would never pill on u. Just another though 👍

    In regards to the stickers you can get a pretty good scan of that sheet from tamiyabase and you should be able to print it out onto clear sticker sheet which i think is available in different thicknesses at hobby lobby and you can adjust the size until it fits in google docs. These stickers aren't at all water resistant so you either need to clearcoat or put a second layer of the sheet over the top.

    IT'S TAMIYA TIIIME!! I would just leave on the chassis you have it sitting on at the end of the vid. Looked perfect. I really wouldn't do anything to it at all.
    Before you touch the decals make sure to get good pictures. Could match the colors, make a stencil or two and practice some airbrush magic.
    Maybe one of the companies that make decals for the R/C aircraft could help.
    You might want to reach out to Gavin at R/C kicks. Maybe someone who has a good laser printer?
    On that MST Drag Honda project, I was wondering what you thought about the gearbox in MST chassis. I have one going to build rear axel drive and have Tamiya Karmann ghia body. I just wonder if that MST gearbox could take a hit at all.

    • @RCeveryday
      @RCeveryday  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I havent done anything with the drag chassis mst. But cody at dixieland rc built one that was the inspiration for that project and I have seen it run head to head with slash drag cars and the like. He had nothing bad to say about the setup on that chassis and gearbox.

    Fitted a Blackfoot body to my CC01 with cheap 1.55 steel beadlocks/sand blaster tyres quick paint job and ta dah it's a Ford ranger replica

  • @dmedford5
    @dmedford5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Put it on a MST CMX chassis same wheelbase...i think they even sell 3D printed mounts just for the Tamiya bodies to mount to the MST chassis. 1.55 wheels and tires and repaint.

    Strip it down, sand prime and paint. Instead of the factory decals I would find someone willing to print your own design or cricut it perhaps. What tape are you using that is failing? Yellow Frog Tape is my new go to, along with Tamiya 8717x masking tapes. The black on the bumpers and the rocker decals seem to be the only real sacrifices to redo it.

    Great review 👏. I have the same 2 decal sheets on my watchlist too but can't justify the price . I also have a crv body and have thought about making a mould from it as my friend Keith at kamtec has moulded a couple of shells from my own moulds. This could give us some options like your tuner option which I'd love to replicate after seeing this . Thoughts guys ?

    • @RCeveryday
      @RCeveryday  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Could Ampro 3-D print u some clear lenses for the back that u could paint up urself? I'm sure he would do it for nothing just because he loves the old and unusual RC's from back in the day. if u went to his TH-cam channel and showed him what u got. He would probably make u some front light buckets as well. And as far as the decals on the sides have u tried that popular company? That all the tamiya guys use for their decals. I'm sorry but the name of that company escapes my thoughts right now. Or if u know someone with a cricket machine? I know u can find those complete cricket machines cheap on marketplace or eBay. For around $100-150 u hook a computer up to it and as long as u have the sticky paper u can make as many of whatever u want. They're definitely worth the investment if u r deep into the hobby. And decals and stickers is not all they can do. U can do Tshirts, hats, really anything u can think of u can customize 👍 it's just a thought. Sorry this comment was so long. But cool rig, and video

      Mine has! You’d be super surprised what the AWDs can do off-road. It’s on par with Subaru. I’ve had both an Outback and have an RD1 now. Done stupid s*^% in both and wondered how they managed to not get stuck. It’s a blast
