I just realized Nairo just beat the Sora and Palu the SAME way. With a advancing back air on shield instead of retreating after a shield check! Saved the commitment until the moment he needed it!
The best part was the Sora not rematching lolllll

This stream had a lot of close calls. Surprisingly, it wasn't from Kazuya.
Kazuya honestly isnt that hard to beat. His neutral is subpar, and his disadvantage is terrible. If you're a better player, it isnt that hard to just body him most of the game.
The only scary thing about him is that he can just whip out 0-deaths like nobody's business. But if you're playing safe, and you're a better player, then it really isnt that hard to avoid. Especially since he has to get 3 a game to actually win.

Its mediocre at best. He's slow, cant approach well, his range his mid, his jumpsquat is terrible which makes him forced to play more grounded, and he doesnt have very many noticeable disjoints. He also doesnt have a good projectile in neutral. His laser is ok, but its not great at pressuring in neutral because its too slow and laggy and doesnt really combo either. not like ken/ryu hadokens or anything. His burst options are kinda mid too, the only decent one being like dash in EWGF, and raw Side B which are OK, but can easily be whiff punished as well. Medium risk, high reward style options.
His framedata also isnt THAT amazing in terms of start up either.
This means he can very easily be overwhealmed by fast frame data rush down chars, or he can get camped by zoners, and even swordies can out space him in neutral and whiff punish him hard.
The only thing he really has going for him is a lot of random intangibility on things which makes it easier to sneak in a neutral win and get his 0-death combos. Thats why his neutral is mediocre.
But if if wasnt for the fact he just has insane 0-death combos, his neutral would be pretty crappy for a top tier. He just has a good neutral for a Touch of Death character, since those characters have notoriously bad neutrals where as Kazuya's is just kinda mid.
Kazuya really isnt that hard to deal with in neutral if you arent braindead. If you play a halfway decent character, you should be able to consistently beat kazuya in neutral. Its just that your neutral wins matter less than his neutral wins.
The only reason he's a hard to deal with character is because of the 0-deaths and the fact his neutral isnt COMPLETE garbage which is why he's a top tier.
Kazuya is ONLY good in neutral. the only reason he is good is his vast moveset which REQUIRES him to be in grounded neutral
I have never seen Nairo play zoning/camping so much. Nairo took this Sora seriously.

Did something happen earlier in the match that made Nairo stop going for edgeguards? He played very safe whenever the Sora was recovering.
Almost losing probably had something to do with it. Plus why edgeguard sora in the first place? Even if you land something he’ll probably still make it back

Nairo could've just countered and easily dealt with that. He didn't need to play so safe at those moments.

This guy was actually playing really good this time around as well, nairos experience as a top player came in full force this match (also top player luck cuz he almost died if he didn't di away from the sweetspot of up smash). 🐐
