Nice one Occy, I grew up listening to Iggy Pop. He has always been one of my favorites and my son loves him now. Iggy is respectful and highly intelligent and for a guy that has really lived hard at times, he has a brilliant memory. Iggy Pop is genuine. He is the real deal.
I think it safe to say Occy did zero research on Iggy before the interview..forehead palmingly frustrating..theres so many cool things he could have asked lol.
I disagree with your comments , I have been a massive Iggy fan since about 1980 and bought every LP up to that date , and and then bought every other LP since ...., Occys interview to me touched on a personal level into iggys life that I have never seen others touch on . After all these years between Iggy's book, and past interviews , Occy managed to covered a side that was original (in parts) and very refreshing to watch to say the least. I am glad it went the way it did - no face palming from me :)
@Jacky J Jones Plus having an interviewer come from such a place of ignorance seems to be eliciting interesting answers, maybe more so than our informed ("cool") questions might of. In the end, I liked this.
@Dickie Brown Iggy was actually born and raised in Ypslanti, Michigan.... he just says Detroit because thats where he established him music career. He ran with Frank Zappa and Alice Cooper in the Detroit clubs.
Thats what makes it such a good interview.... it makes the conversation more spontaneous, instead of being entirely scripted and predictable. I'm sure he intentionally went in not knowing a lot about Iggy to keep it somewhat informal...
@@tuskedbeast you are exactly right... i'm sure he could have done a ton of research, but going in somewhat blind adds to random and spontaneous conversation. it was intentional, and Iggy was entirely cool and relaxed with this guy.
I really enjoyed Occy's interview! Loved that both were a little out of their usual worlds/ safe zones- and successfully found a middle ground somewhere,: awkward pauses at times, "where do we go now" looks.... and I really liked it! Both were plugged in, present and real.... Cheers!
Well, Occy isn't exactly representing the intellectual segment of surfers :) But after realizing Iggy wasn't going to dismiss his lack of knowledge about his life and work, this was a pretty special interview- how he answers the most naive possible questions, and how gracious he is.
What a pleasure to watch this. Great job, Occy! I love when the interviewer lets the guest talk. And you did it! :) I would love to translate the interview into Portuguese so Brazilians can get the taste of it! Go on my friend! Keep up the good work!
Love the fact that they are both well established in their own worlds but know very little about each other. It's nice to see a rock star like Iggy Pop interviewed by someone who isn't a music geek or from the press looking for a scoop.
Occ I've been tuning in lately and have seen alot of great episodes and I've got to tell you you are such a great and gracious host on this platform and in these interviews... not to be cliche but you are a natural and the vibes knowledge stories you share with your guest are all a piece of surfing history. You are the man brother One Love 777
I love that this a more a video of watching occy learning about iggy pop ...no really, he’s been interviewed by 1000s of pros but probably never by a pro surfer
Has anyone seen the documentary "Danny Says " about The Stooges first agent. promoter Danny Fields ? Its a must see . Been binge watching Occ -Cast and just thought id bring it up Iggy tells some sick stories in it ,
He has said in other interviews he's like a dinosaur.. never googled anyone. I love occy he is a true australian who wants to be outside most the time/in the water. I doubt he researches much about anything. Hes a legend
Love both these dudes - heavy influencers on my life growing up. Thanks for the music recommendations Iggy! I saw you in NYC around 2004 with the Stooges - you're a true performer! Awesome to be there. "Down on the Street" is one of my top 5 songs all time.
Occy, after the fact is when you realized how incredible Iggy Pop really is!!!! just so hard to take that whole moment in, he is such a ICON with so many subtleties. wow occ, really bitchen!!! super bitchen!!!
have never seen iggy interviewed like that--occ is so low key it's like it relaxes people into just being themselves. Who would have imagined Iggy didn't really feel successful until last ten years or so. Would have loved to hear more about his time in Berlin with Bowie. Nice job--branching out.
WOW! Messing with Superstars. Should have asked, "Did Bowie Fake His Death?" Probably would have got exactly the same answer, HAHAA. Amazing Stuff, now for a Peanut Butter Smoothie, Beauty Occ.
occy did not want to talk about drugs haha now he is in the surf business without fear and put a bottle of alcohol on the table the best surf community was in the 80s
It's a shame that he did absolutely 0 research and didn't lead the interview. Iggy is a freakin interesting character and I could ask him like 5000 questions instead of just humming. Get your act together, dude.
That guy did not do his home work at all, i mean, 1 hour on the fucking plane,i dunno ther's a lot of fake shit now days, it just shows IGGY'S graeatnes and blah3x, That guy can surf but mr Osterberg Rocks and Rolls 50 years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

iggy is a very kind person.
Two legends from two different styles. Thanks, Occy. Iggy is so rad. What an inspiration.
That guy is an amateur !!!!!!!!!!!
wow..his eyes is so happy..
29:33 Iggy Pop imitating Iggy Pop is one of the most brilliant things I've ever seen
36:41 lol
Good to know you can still be rock ‘n’ roll even when you’re 70
1:25 lol
I got a surprising perspective on an icon I knew very little about. Honest interview.

Iggy Pop you are a beautiful soul!! Occy you are the best!
Love the fact that they are both well established in their own worlds but know very little about each other. It's nice to see a rock star like Iggy Pop interviewed by someone who isn't a music geek or from the press looking for a scoop.
Truly one of my rock heroes. Enjoyed it thanks!
IGGY POP MARK OCCHILUPO TWO NUMBER ONE, GREAT GREETING FROM BARCELONA 🇺🇾🤙

Occ you're the man! All of your interviews are excellent and always interesting. Thanks.
Occ should do his home work before meeting mr. IGGY, he is such an ASS !!!
Iggy has AMAZING hair. He's the GOAT.
Iggy is awesome I will meet him one day I'm living in south florida and I play drums it will be a honor
Shoots! I was hoping he would tour in 2018. No worries! Enjoy your year off Bruddah Iggy! You deserve it Brah \m/
I love this interview for the fact that there both like some alien entity tryna to figure each other out 🐶👽
Has anyone seen the documentary "Danny Says " about The Stooges first agent. promoter Danny Fields ? Its a must see . Been binge watching Occ -Cast and just thought id bring it up Iggy tells some sick stories in it ,
very good interview,down to earth
Thanks occy, refreshing approach to your interviews, keep them coming!
to check out Iggy's radio show google 6 Music. It's on Friday night at 7 (GMT), bloody great!
‘Did you grow up in California?’ Ugh get lost
yeaaaaa, he lost my support after that lmfao. HOW do you know who iggy pop is and not know that?!
He has said in other interviews he's like a dinosaur.. never googled anyone. I love occy he is a true australian who wants to be outside most the time/in the water. I doubt he researches much about anything. Hes a legend

Great interview.Iggy Pop came into Vero Beach a few years ago and seemed like a cool guy.Iggy is a legend.
5:36 Aussie boy DID get nervous too
Occy, after the fact is when you realized how incredible Iggy Pop really is!!!! just so hard to take that whole moment in, he is such a ICON with so many subtleties. wow occ, really bitchen!!! super bitchen!!!
It doesn't get much better than this
Iggy is god💖🦦🎏☯️❤️❤️🖕🖕🤟🤟
Occy is the amazingly talented court jester 😬😬💖🦦🦦☯️
very cool interview OCCY
As a real Aussie would have ask, how was the gig with ac🗲dc at the whisky a go go!!
back in 77 , there's a shoot back stage of him and Bon Scott.
Iggy is super intelligent
have never seen iggy interviewed like that--occ is so low key it's like it relaxes people into just being themselves. Who would have imagined Iggy didn't really feel successful until last ten years or so. Would have loved to hear more about his time in Berlin with Bowie. Nice job--branching out.
Cheeky Fart at 5:36 💨
Great observation!
Where can I get Iggy shorts?
MARK KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT IGGY. ONE OF THE MOST FASCINATING CHARACTERS IN ROCK AND ROLL HISTORY AND MARK KNOWS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. INFURIATING
If he was a woman all comments would be 'she looks hot'. Why does noone overhere says he looks hot? Because he is a man? Iggy you look hot
Great human connection 🥬🥬🥬
Iggy's fixin' to go to sleep! Me too!
My dad is the guess of the gess stars
Iggy here is such a gentleman. This interviewer was so sloppy and poorly researched. Lou Reed would not have tolerated such an interview.
Check out Iggy Pop's high school senior picture.
Nice work Occy
wow, like, wow! Occ's so funny
I started out hating the interviewer for his ignorance... turns out it is a nice little talk.
Wow! Iggy Pop!!!!
hey Occ, interview Kong, dude. you've paid the piper with all this brand stuff, can we talk to a surf legend again now ?
WOW!
Messing with Superstars.
Should have asked, "Did Bowie Fake His Death?" Probably would have got exactly the same answer, HAHAA.
Amazing Stuff, now for a Peanut Butter Smoothie, Beauty Occ.
although Occy didnt do a great job, it was still an entertaining watch.... and lets be honest Iggy is the fucking man.
Wow, way to call out Kong and Chappy for loving the drugs
occy did not want to talk about drugs
haha
now he is in the surf business
without fear and put a bottle of alcohol on the table
the best surf community was in the 80s
Gary Kong and Chappy ? Are they drug dealers? LOL
they kept the a**holes out...so damn right!
wow
Forget the Bird, Iggy needs to get a pet pig, then together they would be Iggy & Piggy... corny right, lol...
It's a shame that he did absolutely 0 research and didn't lead the interview. Iggy is a freakin interesting character and I could ask him like 5000 questions instead of just humming. Get your act together, dude.
Yew
Here you go Occy, Wiki works great when you don't know who you're interviewing...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iggy_Pop
It wasn't a great interview guys just admit it
I can understand your statement, but as a huge fan its kinda to listen to him ramble on, talking story. Loved it.
Aussie's blissfully ignorant "so did you grow up California?" Jesus, dude, talk about NOT knowing your subject.
Sorry i formation a u
Forgot
Dope, literally not figuratively speaking. Dame Bramage=boring interview.
