I'm guessing the snare section leader marched somewhere this summer. His arm technique and carriage are different from the rest of the entire line..... and his stick heights are lower on all attacks.

looking at him it seems you're right, he's got a much more "professional" atmosphere about his playing

Dan Hurd he hasn't marched at any corps yet he's just really good. you can follow him on insta @edndrums

@@SuperMultimitch his approach is very 2000's Cavies. Low hands. Right elbow cocked out a bit. Nice left hand. But damn..... I just don't get why the entire line has a similar style but he doesn't match. Elbow and wrist position is always going to affect attack height uniformity.
Yeah I'm being super critical, but this is a very respectable line. Just trying to help!

Dan Hurd I went to a camp for the Troopers last fall and spent the following 6 months working on what they told me to in preparation for this coming audition, then I got back to school and remembered I still have to match to the line I'm in right now. I've been trying to get my technique in shape with our standard while not completely throwing out what I learned at Troop and it's been a weird balancing act that I'm not very good at. Feels good to hear that my hands look like drum corps hands though.

@@ericnunnellee6024 This is about exactly the response I was looking for. Don't sweat it. BOA judges aren't going to notice. The more experience you get with different techniques, the easier it will be down the road for you. You'll know how to loosen your elbow or change your wrist angles and still get the same sound quality. It's all a matter of being flexible to the style being asked of you. Keep up the good work!
If you really want to knock off the rust, try some lvl 5 triplet rolls at about 138bpm. Loosen the shoulder and right elbow and bring your wrist about 3 inches higher at tacet. That should match you up with the other guys on your line. Think of a tennis ball between your elbow and your side..... rather than a football. ((Just going off what I see from the line. If I'm wrong.... wouldn't be the first time lol))

I would say the expression. The playing is fantastic and clean. Very impressed. And that could just be how you were taught to be and with that no disrespect everyone teaches different
