Amazing. Love the detail that went into this. Huge props to the people who spent time to do the testing to figure all of this out, all for the sake for such an obscure passive skill. Also, F to all the people who tried to get magic mastery on a persona that couldn't even get it in the first place. 😢
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve searched every last inch of the internet trying to collect as much information available about the fabled Magic Mastery and the entire fusion system, as a whole. I never really came across any thing other than the basic stuff about skill rank, full moon, etc. The closest thing was someone on reddit, the other day, mentioning certain arcana only being able to obtain it but never went into detail. I had actually gotten so parched for information that I began making my own notes on every fusion I did…just hoping to find some pattern or really anything. You’ve saved me a lot of time because I know my “note taking” would’ve resulted in a complete utter pile of nothing lol. Edit: Also came across this video link on the GameFAQs forums so thanks to the person that posted it, if you so happen to read this.
Also wanted to add, you can improve your odds a bit further by choosing the right arcana combination. For example, Fool x Hermit= Priestess, Priestess x Priestess=Priestess, but the former has skills with probability only 21%, while the latter has 2 skills with 35%, ir you choose these for passing, your chances increase.
I forgot to say this on my other comment but thanks for going more in depth on how Special fusions work and how to use the calculator. I’ve already put over 400 hours into this game, and this and FES are my favourite games ever, so can’t wait to grind it out on even MORE personas once The Answer comes out. I saw Tuviee do an interesting build with the Evolved P5 Party member personas, which I might do when I come back, just wish Blazing Hell, Ice Age etc had higher base power as they are kind of pathetic when compared to Inferno, Diamond Dust etc.
ayooo, W tuviee clips plug also you're so real for explaining how to use the calc in detail, I myself didn't even bother to put it on my vid, good stuff
I didn't know Magic Mastery was a skill in P3R but all I know is that trying to get Almighty Amp on Lucifer, Messiah, & Orpheus was too taxing on my monkey brain & I fear my head will suffer the same fate as the Death Star while trying to get Magic Mastery on any demon
Honestly it's not worth it. Not only is it the rarest skill to achieve via mutation, but it's not transferable like almighty Amp. I would've gone through with the headache if that was the case but I was mad as hell when I found out.
Thx for the guide man im not gonna try to get magic mastery BUTTTT I now know how to get abilities like firm stance and unshaken will which i will keep on my low level personas for crazy fusions later on (Already got almighty amp in first 10, fusions it was from some random skill but thats ok )
I did a test run on skill mutation at level 20+ with 400k worth of money. Because I was low levelled, most of my skill cards were Level 3-4 so I knew it was gonna take a while. But surprisingly, within 2.5-3 hours of non-stop fusion (didn’t leave the velvet room), I actually managed to get Almighty Amp, Salvation, Diamond Dust, Magic Mastery (on my Lamia), Inferno, Enduring Soul, Ali Dance and several rank 7-8s. Even more surprising is that aside from transferring the higher ranked skills to other Personas, I mostly just did Legion -> Lamia loop cause it was the cheapest I could afford without leaving the velvet room. Unfortunately I didn’t get a single Rank 9 skill though :/ and even more unfortunate is that I had to overwrite that save cause I was only left with ¥700 which would cause significant delays to my 100% run. I think if I follow this guide, I’ll be able to get those skills again quicker. Now if only I can get Rank 9s 🥲
People talking about whether mutations happen on Full Moon or New Moon Me watching this vid while in grinding the last floors of Tartarus in Half-Moon ☠ Great Vid tho, thanks a lot!
I think it's incredible that the ultimate persona of this game cannot actually get Magic Mastery legit and then for everything else it's this hard to get? Almost feels like anyone not playing on PC for mods (or just straight up editing it on Personas) gets punished pretty severely :(
Prior to begin any fusion for a skill change, I suggest making sure the MC has a Persona selected with a 99 Luck. Make sure it’s not a persona to be fused. Take Care!
Thanks for this superb video. I had no idea about Magic Mastery only being able to appear if the fusion ingredients were from certain (groups of) Arcana. I've tried googling advice on how to better my odds on getting Magic Mastery a couple times already, but would only find mostly hear-say and rumors, nothing based in solid datamined/thoroughly tested and verified information. Turns out, I've been wasting almost a dozen hours trying to get Magic Mastery from fusion ingredients that could never produce it in the first place, because a lot of the advice I stumbled on before was "just keep fusing rank 8 skills, whatever Personas don't really matter". I hope this video will be more easily found by people so they don't go wasting hours upon hours like I did, LMAO (I am in pain) (sunken cost fallacy is very real) EDIT: I just got Magic Mastery! Took about 3 hours since posting this comment!
@@bainz Helel! Followed your advice near the end of the video to fuse Helel with two Personas of the Group 6 Arcanas (which is also appreciated, saves a lot of fiddling around the admittedly kind of obtuse calculator spreadsheet to find the best combination is 6 + 6) Did it with Beezelbub (Devil) and Anatta (Aeon), and most of the inherited skills came from Beezelbub, just because he's easy to load up with a bunch of good skills since he is a Special Fusion and can choose skills to inherit from any of his like 5 ingredients. My final Helel fuse was (my combination only allowed 4 inherited skills): Almighty Amp (highest weight on the 6+6 fusion table), Brave Blade (2nd highest weight), Megidolaon (shares 3rd highest Rank 8 weight with God's Hand and Salvation), God's Hand, Salvation, Morning Star (learned by levelling, negligible weight and Rank 9 but no better options at 4 inherited skills), Spell Master (learned by levelling, replacing Makougaon, 0 weight, but Rank 8 so could mutate into MM), Thunder Reign (0 weight, but this was the damage skill, can replace with whatever element you want) If the math I did was right, this setup meant that there was about a 0.5% chance that a skill mutation would result in MM. Only found out that Elizabeth can be dealt a Critical Hit, which is also important information for when I build a Phys Persona for her.
My Magic Mastery mutated from Debilitate and that was after dozens (maybe 100+) tries. I got it on Lucifer and that's all I'm going to do; the effort just isn't worth it after learning everything that was revealed in this video.
I randomly fuse a bishamonten thru dropped persona and somehow got a almighty amp even tho his kit is mainly physical, luckily it's inheritable, a bit tricky to pass to a proper persona, but I've managed to make it work
It’s not only that it’s so low chance to get, but that it takes so long for just one try, why can’t we save in the velvet room!? Fusion takes so long, so many unnecessary talk bubbles and menus! I gave up after 2 hours to get it on Norn and you can probably guess which one it mutated off. It’s also really not worth it considering practically everything die from one hit from a sever skill (with boost, amp, single target, ability) without concentrating or buff/debuff. I got magic mastery on satan in only a couple of fusions & just decided to make him into a pure ice dmg dealer with only dd, was sad to forgo black viper but I wasn't planning on keeping my first playthrough anyway. Looking to do a fresh merciless run in a few weeks or months from but definably gonna do two runs before the answer comes out
Aw that REALLY a sucks for you bro. I’m so sorry you couldn’t do a black viper build, but I can tell you that I have a Satan build and while I prefer it to a Diamond Dust build simply because it’s a unique move with the highest base power in the game, it really doesn’t do much damage, not compared to even a non-driver physical build persona when hitting or Crit, it’s more comparable to a non-magic mastery severe element build,

Interesting how Heavens Blade is the only one unique skill that other skills can mutate into. Maybe some code limitations since this skill is available to more than one persona.
With how much a pain it is to get both if Atlus adds either as a dlc skill card oh boy people are going to be both happy that it’s added but mad that they didn’t do it from the start😆
Thanks for the video. Sees like getting that mastery will be harder than i thought. Even without magic mastery took me an hour to have Messiah learn Inferno, Diamond dust, Phanta Rei and Thunder Reign, since Orpheus can't have the last one. So i was wondering how to get almighty amp and magic mastery. Seems the amp one is still doable, but i would have to spent quite a while if i hope to get mastery on it. Let alone getting it without loosing the 4 severe group.
Now that the game’s been out for a while, will you be making a new review of the DLC personas? I didn’t realize Goemon was good past the early-ish game.
How to trigger skill mutation? I’ve been fusing for 5 hours just to get Almighty Amp and using pack 6. Not one triggers skill mutation. I am now stumped on what to do.
Magic Mastery just isn’t worth it. Lol coming from someone who got it on 4 personas 😂 😂. Edit: I should specify 4 is Legit I have fused. I have an Orpheus Telos with it on my computer, but that’s from mods and I really don’t use my computer save for anything but Mods.
How did you even get it? I've been trying to get it for 10+ hours. Getting it on ONE persona isn't worth it at all, better wasting 6 euros on dlcs cuz you'll do similar damage (which is still useless even vs merciless elizabeth, unless you plan a 4-6 turn kill)
@@alalunare48 Your Completely right. It’s not worth it. At all. And I did all this before CTOBN came out with his information, so I did it through sheer will and preservation. After all the research CTOBN has done though this is now proven impossible. I got it on my Telos on computer through mods. You can get it on Orpheus though, which I did do.
I'd like to know which personas you used to fuse Orpheus. I'm trying to make Messiah as powerful as possible so having Orpheus with victory cry would be really helpful. Great video btw.
Hmm if you want to get Victory Cry on Messiah, easiest way would be to transfer it from Telos to either Thanatos or Orpheus, rather than relying on mutations if you can
I just saw this comment. It is basically the same way you get Magic Mastery, however, your odds are basically the same. I've gotten Magic Mastery on my Orpheus before but in one of my failed fusions, Victory Cry came from a Rank 8 Skill I obtained via skill mutation
Magic Mastery is probably only worth in Personas with "Driver" passives in the extremely specific case you want to optimize boosting passives down to 3 skills. For example, something like Goemon with Ice Amp (×1.5 boost) + Ice Driver (×1.75 boost) + Magic Mastery (×1.5 boost) + Lucifer's Blade weapon (×1.25 boost) = ×4.921875 boost, which is just barely under the cap. Not sure why one would want that, though. Maybe to make room for something like Ice Break?
I'm trying to get it for an all around Persona, who can hit all six elements for high damage. All six Ma-dyne skills, plus Magic Mastery, Lucifer's Blade... and I guess Multi Target boost in the last skill slot. just a great Persona to clear random encounters and easier bosses. Max damage on a single type doesn't sound all that great to me, I prefer to run physical or almighty for the harder bosses, and neither of those builds need MM.
Whenever I get to the end of the game. I will never grind for this as it just doesn’t sound like it’s worth it. If I happen to get it, cool, if not, cool. Not worth going out of your way to get especially as 2 of the strongest personas can’t even get it is just pure nonsense to me why they thought locking a skill like this behind RNG and non passible.
Great vid, thanks! So if I fused a custom Orpheus, is there any way I can level him quickly? Theres no sacrifice fusion, so how can I level one persona quickly?
Generally, it's just solo beating the Reaper a bunch of times, usually with Armageddon. Or you could use other Personas to beat him, and have Growth 3 on Orpheus
@@sxa6122 Spell master what Loki get halfes SP cost of spells, Magic Mastery basically universal AMP 50% dmg for any spell what not almighty, diference is huge.
Ice is the only main element with a Theurgy (King and I) Ice builds are also pretty good for Elizabeth cuz she takes a lot more damage if you use the right element at the right time (Ice after she's used Surt) Any Magic Mastery Persona can consistently 5 turn kill her, using only Theurgy, so you technically don't even need Diamond Dust
So, your answer to how to get those is 'use the fusion calc'? Not even a single example of a fusion path to get those said high mutation odds skills into the persona? Man, I miss the days when people made actually useful Persona videos.
whoever taught it was a good idea to make magic mastery not inheritable, I hope their pillows are warm on both sides.

Hmm true, but if someone is going for MM just to be able to run Ice Break, I gotta question it lol
I fuse moonxmoon to get Kaguya always got Heaven's blade or Magic ability, mutation from diamond dust or thunder reign
Same with aeon x fortune
did this the correct way once. after that i just use cheatengine to edit the skill in. not gonna waste hours just to get one skill.
How come Thanatos can't mutate Magic Mastery but Messiah can?
I mean both need Death Arcana to fuse.
Is magic ability inheritable? I hear magic mastery is a passive on a certain sword so i only need ability.
Hey does anyone know if you can get the heavens blade mutation onto cendrillion and if it would be worth it if you could
so for arsene with dark boost amp and driver, would magic ability reach that cap?
You’d be at 4.1x, which is a bit shy of the 5x cap. Still fine though
Heavens blade is exclusive to what packs
Also anyone trying to get heavens blade it is same as magic mastery
It can't be transferred :/
My orpheus has it now i cant do anything with it
I wasted many hours resetting for my Telos to learn magic mastery and just found out it’s impossible to get it 😢
Same here, dang, those wasted hours
I got almighty boost on seth from Makarakarn
Loki gets magic mastery by levelijg
It's not the same Magic Mastery
@@Kaxxito whats the diff?
@@sxa6122 Spell master what Loki get halfes SP cost of spells, Magic Mastery basically universal AMP 50% dmg for any spell what not almighty, diference is huge.
why is it that everyone wants to use diamond dust specifically for these crazy builds?
Ice is the only main element with a Theurgy (King and I)
Ice builds are also pretty good for Elizabeth cuz she takes a lot more damage if you use the right element at the right time (Ice after she's used Surt)
Any Magic Mastery Persona can consistently 5 turn kill her, using only Theurgy, so you technically don't even need Diamond Dust
Wait my Messiah has magic mastery does he not normally learn it?
Messiah learns Magic Ability from level up. They are able to learn MM cuz Orpheus is one of their ingredients
Give it on akechi loki.
Sorry, too long explanation. Can u tell me directly how to get magic mastery and magic ability
Just use lucifers blade for magic ability
magis mastery is not even worth it when you can just equip lucifers blade. and its not even that hard to get
That's Magic Ability
So, your answer to how to get those is 'use the fusion calc'? Not even a single example of a fusion path to get those said high mutation odds skills into the persona? Man, I miss the days when people made actually useful Persona videos.
Nice way to tell everyone you didn’t understand the video
@@Aman-ti4qu And you needed a video to learn about the calculator. Nice flex.
@@casterorder And now you’re projecting because you didn’t understand. Lmao
@@Aman-ti4qu If you are expecting my come back, you'll have to scrape it off your dad's teeth.
nvm I still can't understand why I'm not getting almighty amp
nvm
