From Chaos to Clean: Free Cleaning for a Homeowner with Health Issues

- Today I am cleaning this home for free to help a lady with health issues who hasn't been able to put her home in order since moving out of a care facility after being there for three years. She also lost both of her parents in the last three years and inherited a bunch of their stuff, adding to the clutter.

People can adjust their volume, you're still learning all this. What's important is what you are doing, which is magical.

I understand that all people have issues of some sort but to me living in such clutter would fry my brain. 😊
Expiration dates are hard to find and to see as one gets older. I use a sharpie and write the expiration date on an item so I can see it quickly. You uncovered quite a nice kitchen!

I can see that she is probably disabled, I commend her for still working! It sucks when you don’t feel well….it takes everything just to get up and start the day❤
May God Bless you and keep you for this work you are doing. You are truly a Godsend. I struggle with clutter and junk sometimes. I’ve been doing better lately and I have stopped buying things. I’m praying someone will help her go thru the mail and boxes. That’s hard too but I have done a box a day or a few drawers a day and it has made a significant difference. Sort it and get it out to trash or donation.

Becky, you’re not alone, same here. May & June are extremely tough for me for several reasons, when my depression is the worst. But all the sudden after these videos, I’m feeling motivated for the first time in awhile. I’ve decided to clean my fridge today. I feel like I can kind of tell who is going to keep it up and who will let it just get back to the way it was. Sadly, I think this home is one of those that will probably go back to the way it was because this was very early in my new venture and I didn't require her to help with anything. She was usually at work the days that I cleaned there. I am now trying to require that they help at least a little bit, even if they can only help for a couple of hours, but just to be part of the cleanup process so that they start to form new habits and also are just a participant in the process.
I think it was a good thing for Katie to follow you too. She's blind so she's also learning what's available for her too. Great work and it helps a lot in getting a fresh start

When my daughter was little, her babysitter’s house was like this. She was the sweetest woman, and loved the kids she babysat!

This is amazing! You have no idea how much this helps people. We don’t know what people go through in life, and we ALL need help at times. I moved in with my Father after my Mother passed away in 2020. All of my stuff was just thrown into my parents’ home. I work and have a disabled daughter. I haven’t had the time or motivation to go through my things, and it drives me crazy. Watching this shows me that there is hope! ❤ You’ll have jewels in your crown!

Thank you for that quote at the beginning! I too have had a lot of health issues in tha past 10 years, and struggle with pain daily. I have pretty bad depression, which I know would be better if I could just get some things cleared and cleaned in my home. I'm working on it, but it seems like "one step forward, two steps back".

Such a blessing to have someone give a help like this when there is an issue. Depression and life struggles can cause this type of problem. Please Jill look into counseling and find a way to share your grief and the stresses you are experiencing, it should help. Just allowing someone to give you assistance is a great show of strength. I do struggle with where to put stuff sometimes, but I usually set things aside if I don't know what to do with them and by the end of the day, I have either found a spot for it or I leave it somewhat organized in a box for the homeowner to go through.

Thank you for what you do. Sometimes it's very hard to ask for help because you feel like you're being judged. So, I just so glad that you help others without judging them. Your videos are also helping me to stay motivated and not to give up on my own home. situation.
It's definitely human nature to judge others. I'm not perfect at it, but it sure helps to see people from all kinds of situations. I'm so glad my videos help you stay motivated!
I was having a lot of breathing issues back in 2021. In February 2022, I decided to do something about it, and I went cold turkey on sugars, refined carbs (bread, pastries, crackers, pancakes, pasta, etc.). Since I've been following a low-carb diet, I've lost 50 pounds and my breathing is 1,000% better (sugar causes your body to retain water, which builds up around your lungs and causes shortness of breath). Bonus: I have a lot more cabinet space, since my cabinets are no longer filled with all of those boxes and bags of carbs. Jill, consider giving it a try! Check with your doctor first, of course.

Thanks so much for sharing!!! I have long covid & have found cutting sugar/carbs helps me breathe as well. If you can't breathe, nothing else matters! Plus, sugar is poison & it is literally killing us.
Please, please, please go onto a whole-food, plant diet from there… you have gotten rid of the junk from your diet BUT you now need to get more fibre for gut health.
My diet has plenty of fiber in it from whole vegetables. We don't need to alarm people by suggesting that veganism is the only way to get fiber in their diets.

Someone may have already mentioned this but whenever you come across melted wax from candles or scentsy wax just use a blow dryer on it for a little bit and it'll heat it up and it comes right up 😊 Just a thought instead of scrapping and scrubbing. Great work that you do, very inspiring!!!❤

Scrub mommy all the way. I especially love the white one. You can easily tell if it’s clean when it’s white again and amazingly, it doesn’t stain! The smile by the sink poking out makes me smile also

She lived there one year? Wonder how many people are needing help like this that aren't getting it? Maybe there needs to be some hotline to call for help before it gets like this? Nice that you are helping her. Hope she heals soon.
Yes, and as far as I know, there aren't really resources for stuff like this other than to have family or Friends help, but sadly in a lot of these situations, they have burned out friends and family due to their issues. I'm trying to be a little part of that solution, but wouldn't it be great if there was a program that helped people in hoarding situations or in homes where there has been a lot of trauma and it's hard for the family to function and their house falls behind?🙏
That was a lot of work and you did such a nice job! One thing I’d love to hear in your voice over is more detail about how you tackle the room and decide what to do with things.
That's a great suggestion. This was one of my very early videos and I've learned a lot since then, so I do explain a little better now what I'm doing in my more recent videos. I also do plan to do another Series where like once or twice a month I will be decluttering and cleaning my own home and will explain in a lot better detail what I'm doing since I deal with my own stuff a lot different than I would someone else's, so I figured that would be helpful.

This home feels like depression to me. Losing both of your parents one right after the other is horrible. I have lost both of mine as well with my Mom passing about a year and a half ago. I am still trying my best every day to stay motivated and clean and organized. It’s tough

If I don't like the music i just put it on silent and enjoy reading the narration. I admire your willingness to help those that need help, housekeeping gets alot harder as you age or if you have a disability. I also like the power paste, it works best as a polisher for appliances, sinks, tubs, etc. I have seen others use it to clean stains on walls. I find it expensive so I don't use it on everything. I don't believe it was made for cleaning wood. Anyhow, my best wishes on the growth of your channel, it is GREAT!!! I subscribed today.
Thank you for the feedback. I am trying out different things with the music just to see what people like, but I may try some videos with minimal to no music. Oh, and I did actually Google if Power Paste could be used on wood before I did this because I was unsure also, and it said that it could be used on finished wood. So, there ya go...another use for Power Paste. It is expensive though. I do find it goes a long way, however. Thanks for watching!
