Yes, I'm replaying the Alice Madness Returns one and I'm baffled how brilliantly it's designed. I hate platformers normally but this one has enough love put into it to make me replay the parts I struggle with over and over, the hunt for secrets is fun, the minigames, even though some of them frustrating, are really fun too This man really understood how to make something that keeps you captivated no matter what you prefer
EA and Sony are the two big companies I absolutely will forever hate until the end of time. They’ve also ruined the Dead Space series and probably still wondering to themselves why it failed so hard on the third title.

The Alice: Asylum design bible is so detailed. I wish I had it in a large, fancy, hardcopy book. It's not the video game we all wanted but it's something special at least. Wish EA would take the hit for this game. I know the Alice series wasn't very popular but I believe it could be if EA gave it more attention.

And if they can't make any profit if it isn't going to be super popular then it has only cost them money. They also don't want to sell the rights because they believe that Alice is a big name/brand of them. A name can get bigger with another installment. I wish there was an easy way to contact them. I’m almost positive all their communication towards fans are run by bots. Perhaps emailing would be more effective, but I read they don’t want any “game idea” advice and to instead get a job in the game industry to work for them (lmao) but I’m not sure if this would qualify as an idea to them or if it’s more like a “sell the license or greenlight the game.” Even if they do spontaneously agree I don’t think American McGee would want to involved and I can’t blame him. Maybe someone who was close to the project could advise the production to keep the original spirit alive. It’s definitely worth at least letting EA know lots of people still care about the series. That’s the best we can do. It’s scary they can hold someone’s ideas hostage forever and show it no respect if you create it while working for them.

In its honor, I started a tattoo sleeve based on the series, but mainly AMR. I never thought I would get a tattoo, let alone a sleeve, of a game/movie or anything but this... deserved more than it got. And it inspired me to at least try... the cards may be stacked against you but if you never give it your all, how can you ever know?

They’ve been being bugged since April and don’t really care- this is something they’re notorious for unfortunately. McGee most likely will not want to work on it even when it’s released from them if it ever is. He can’t legally make anything without their explicit consent related to Alice at all

There was a lot of talent in this series. It is a shame that there are so many instances where you have a truly talented person with an artistic vision and the motivation to realize it that isn't allowed to do it because some company only cared about money, or simply didn't have insight to realize there was something special there. I hope these games receive the recognition they deserve at some point.
Honestly even though the game wont happen, seeing how much it brought the community together is crazy. The whole bible being aided by the fans, having fan ost's made, and you can even find so many wonderful analysis videos on the asylum game explained by devoted fans. For anyone looking for that little bit of Mcgee joy, there are also Alice stop motion videos you can watch by Mcgee himself of alice!
such a shame EA said no. :C I just had my friend play Madness Returns and she loved it(My 8th? 9th? playthrough of that game). Then, I told her about the lost of this possible game. She was so mad. Her and I both really loved the detail/story/designs/music --well pretty much everything about Madness Returns. We could only speculate what a new game would have looked like going into the newer game graphic era. If I'm not mistaken McGee was mildly playing around with the idea of a Wizard of Oz, too and that would have been so cool to have seen that take on it too!! I'm sad he felt utterly thrown into the mud by the rejection, but I hope he's found a new light with his family and loved ones. His ideas and everyone else that worked on Asylum will be missed, but I only wish for them to be happy at this point. I still just hope they had fun during all that process.
I have a CD disc copy with original case of the original, I had wanted it back when I played Madness returns on the XBOX 360. But I just happened to find it at a thrift store.
I played it on a PC from 1999 running Windows 2000, I did upgrade the graphics card to one from 2008 though, plus a slight RAM upgrade. I used Xpadder to map a USB XBOX 360 controller to the game. I got pretty far in the game, and then got my own copy of Madness returns for my own 360. I got pretty far in that game too. But I didn't beat either. I think I had my difficulty up the highest too, which is rare for me. I could be wrong, but if it is true, then I know it is because of the devotion I have for the games and the source material.
and to also consider the IP has still been attached to EA since it’s release on the year 2000, which of course the company had different management compared to its more for ‘profit making’ appeal for its games now. But man, isn’t it just a spit in the face to scrap what a passionate project that had to take years to craft and build a completely interesting game. And now you have indie game developers making popular games like Pizza Tower, Antonblast and Roboquest.

I was just playing the American McGee's Alice and Madness Returns when I stumbled across this. It sucks that he's retiring, and pretty crappy of EA to refuse to make his game and refuse to give him the rights back
It’s so sad, he made such a good game, it just never got the backing he needed and EA shoveled the rights away when he had the support. Idk if I’d play a new Alice game under that IP no matter the hype just for this reason. More likely to find an indie game or new title that draws inspiration but doesn’t find EA. I'm just now starting Madness Returns. I've been eyeballing it on pc gamepass for years! Finally got it. Not a great start though.... First load up, I went into my first game and it got stuck loading for over 5 minutes. Froze my computer. Second try, crash. 3rd try it said I didn't have the original client or something like that. 4th try and I'm in! I'm actually playing right now, about 5 minutes in 😃

I hope EA goes out of business. I’m over the company. There are far greater companies pumping out better titles, and at this point the indie scene is where I’ll stay. I have never been so disappointed over a game before. I feel so bad for American Mcgee, dude got his baby taken from him and it’s stupid. The moment it became okay for companies to own a piece of media completely, was the moment games got worse bc the original creators started getting locked out from them. Hate this. Hate EA. I was just playing the American McGee's Alice and Madness Returns when I stumbled across this.
It sucks that he's retiring, and pretty crappy of EA to refuse to make his game and refuse to give him the rights back
It’s so sad, he made such a good game, it just never got the backing he needed and EA shoveled the rights away when he had the support. Idk if I’d play a new Alice game under that IP no matter the hype just for this reason. More likely to find an indie game or new title that draws inspiration but doesn’t find EA. There’s allways unreal and epic ( get to cooking people)

I'm just now starting Madness Returns. I've been eyeballing it on pc gamepass for years! Finally got it. Not a great start though.... First load up, I went into my first game and it got stuck loading for over 5 minutes. Froze my computer. Second try, crash. 3rd try it said I didn't have the original client or something like that. 4th try and I'm in! I'm actually playing right now, about 5 minutes in 😃

Theoretically using the game bible somone could create the game, theyd just have to change a few things. Mcgee cant make it or anything like it because when he signed over the rights to the game to ea he also agreed that hed never be able to make another game using the theme of alice in wonderland ever again

We should fight for McGee. EA fucked with Mass Effect after they got the rights and I’ve never forgiven them for that, it could have been even MORE amazing. This, this is the last straw for me. EA needs to fucking go under that way the rights to these games can go to someone who actually CARES! Like McGee!!
