My mum use to play Abba in the 80s when I was a kid. This song reminds me of a time she use to merrily sing looking deep into my eyes trying to get me to listen to the words . She knew the depth & beauty. I was young and naive. It’s taken her passing for me to end up here 😢

My first ABBA- Album ever. I remember laying in my parents living room on the floor, hearing this album over and over again, very early at Sunday mornings, when my parents were still asleep. I was 10 or 11. And "Move on" was, is and will ever be my Favourite! It made my ten years old me cry (I could't stand the deep, deep Feelings) and In 2021 it still brings those feelings... As a german I would translate it to "Weltschmerz" these days...

Even our present-day musicians are a dead loss, wasting their time pontificating on social media and spouting virtues about this and that. Perhaps it’s bizarrely only the Rolling Stones that might just pop out one more great song before they pop their clogs. We live in a world rolling with cheap and nasty culture. Still, ABBA’s great 1977 song here will always provide that vital breath of fresh air.

To my baby girl with cancer. In the late 1978s. I was work on a crab fishing boat in the Bering Sea. We found ourselves in a huge storm. I remember looking up from the wheel house in the trough between waves. Our ship was actually “submarining” into the next wave. I put this song on and sang at the top of my voice… Over and over. Never knowing if we would wallow up out of the next wave. Believe in your heart baby girl… I did.. I am here to say you can to.

Dare say there's more creativity here in terms of what we today measure as creativity. WAM was a lot of 'colour by numbers', this is just 'let it go, go anywhere you want'.
This song had an otherworldly feel to it. You dream of distant horizons. It takes you to another place. It transports you somewhere else. And so you forget about your own little world for a little while. But that's not to say that once the song is over that you are brought back to the mundane reality of your existence. Abba can give you a song that leaves you uplifted, and that puts more spring into your step. The song is, after all, called 'Move On'. It's a very apt title. I have no fear of stating that this group are simply the greatest of all time. I love the Beatles, the Stones, Beach Boys . . . When their voices join it sounds like ten women singing, a rare feat. The real test is to see who else can sing one of their songs. No one can, not a man or woman out there can sing one of their beautiful songs with such clarity and power. From the moment they appeared when I was just eleven years old there was no going back. I laugh, cry and daydream listening to them, covered in goosebumps. Utterly brilliant, simple as that.

ABBA move on diesen Song höre ich immer wieder sehr gerne über mein Handy an,da dieser Song nie im Radio gespielt wird. Warum nicht, dabei ist das einer der schönsten Songs von ABBA,von meiner Lieblingsgruppe immer wieder gerne machst mir Spaß und Freude ABBA zu hören. In den 70‘er Jahren wurde der Song von GARD zur Werbung benutzt. Er hieß „ Schönes Haar ist dir gegeben, mit Gard ….“ daher kennen diesen Song unbewusst , Millionen von Menschen 😮

I am swedish and grew up listening to ABBA. They make me proud.
ABBA in a certain sense is the 20. cent. equivalent to Mozart. Highly gifted composers striving within the framework of 70s rock&pop music for ultimate beauty. And "The album" really is one of the most beauty-full records ever. (I bought "the album" 79 when it freshly appeared & am still amazed).
Dare say there's more creativity here in terms of what we today measure as creativity. WAM was a lot of 'colour by numbers', this is just 'let it go, go anywhere you want'.

This song had an otherworldly feel to it. You dream of distant horizons. It takes you to another place. It transports you somewhere else. And so you forget about your own little world for a little while. But that's not to say that once the song is over that you are brought back to the mundane reality of your existence. Abba can give you a song that leaves you uplifted, and that puts more spring into your step. The song is, after all, called 'Move On'. It's a very apt title.

I have no fear of stating that this group are simply the greatest of all time. I love the Beatles, the Stones, Beach Boys . . . And on the list goes, but the sheer beauty of Abba's songs is forever enduring, the most wonderful melodies, the multi layered harmonies, the quality of the girl's voices, one a mezzo-soprano the other a soprano. When their voices join it sounds like ten women singing, a rare feat. The real test is to see who else can sing one of their songs. No one can, not a man or woman out there can sing one of their beautiful songs with such clarity and power. From the moment they appeared when I was just eleven years old there was no going back. I laugh, cry and daydream listening to them, covered in goosebumps. Utterly brilliant, simple as that.

Everything you say Gingerman 77 is spot on. I'm 62 and their music is simply the best I've heard and I want to listen to them daily. In fact I wake up to a different ABBA song daily on my alarm.

Great ABBA Song perhaps not so well known
I love listening to music while studying. I decided to listen to an ABBA album − I bumped to this heavenly song for the first time and literally I was moved and gave made me chills. Thank you, ABBA for inspiring generation to generation! ❤
Good Lord! I haven't listened to this since I was a kid and my sister and I would save up to buy any new albums they released, and would play them non-stop. Got us through a tough childhood. Maybe it's time to revisit the joy these songs bring.

A beautiful song by ABBA. One of my favourites from ABBA The Album. Brought a tear to my eye in 1979, still does now. Could never understand why this track was not released as a single.

The girls vocal abilities are discussed. Anni-Frid gets lots of attention by the entire ABBA team and all her musical peers dating back to grade school. She was first identified in grade school by her teachers for her vocal talent.
Benny, Bjorn and Michael Tretow - ABBA's engineer, considered Frida a master vocalist.
In 1972, Anni-Frid Lyngstad got a sweet deal from Stig Andersson/Polar Music, if she would return to the group. She left the foursome after their winter 70/71 cabaret shows.
Study early foursome issues. 1971 was a dark period. They were all friends, but from a professional career point of view, there were issues.
Benny & Bjorn were still writing and house producer's at Polar. But, Frida was gone. Getting Frida back would secure Frida fronted group and/or a shot at a successful foursome.
Re: music composition
Benny Andersson is the groups musical motor. Early lyrics/song titles was by Stig Andersson. Bjorn eventually took over lyrics.

I've loved this song since I was 9 years old. The Album from 77 is probably my favorite ABBA album. The music takes me away to a very far away and beautiful place. Probably Sweden. I am listening to this song tonight and enjoying it as much as I ever have. I am 53 years old now and so very grateful for having ABBA'S music throughout my life. What a blessing.
