- The adventurousness of SOGs operators led them not only to Top Secret combat in Laos and Cambodia but also to risky Black Market encounters in the back alleys of Saigon.

Thank you so much for this upload. I’m Hmong American and my grand pa work and help build long cheng for the CIA and fought alongside the Americans. I’m also a led veteran served as a navy corpsman with marine grunts. I enjoy your stories. You guys went through hell in that war. We just had desert sand. I always respect the Vietnam vets. Especially the infantry man. Y’all went through hell.
I bet your grandpa has many stories from his days! You should relate a few and some of yours! Thanks to both of you for your service!!
God bless you and your family. ❤ from Iowa
My dad wasn’t SOG but he was first a Marine during Tet offensive and later a green beret. After his passing a few years ago (took his own life) I found that red SOG pin like one you would put on a uniform. Idk if he was a part of it or knew some guys in it because he only talked about the war when he was drunk and they weren’t please t stories but he was definitely in the shit. Could never seem to get what he did and saw out of his mind. All you who served in NAM are my heroes and I salute you 🫡. Semper fi and welcome home.
Just finished the book and loved it. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you
Classic trick. "MP coming" :)
Your book joined my collection a while ago. I'll pick it up when I finish the ones by John Plaster.
Thanks for sharing the story.
You can stop trying to promote John's books on my channel. I'm doing a much better job of it than you. His picture and/or an image of his book appears in quite a few of my videos and there is a link to it on Amazon in many of the descriptions.
@@DawsonsWar I think this was a misunderstanding.
I have a copy really good stuff love ya
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
Damn good book
Thanks
I have seen in many sources that the SOG also had members from US navy seals and Marine force reconnaissance.
However, Sir you haven't mention anything about them in your video series . Do you know any guy whose from force recon or seals who assigned to SOG?
There were not actually that many in SOG's Recon unit Ops35. That's probably why they're seldom mentioned. There were however Rangers and People from Airborne units constantly shuttled in and out Recon as the war went on and more guys were needed. SOG ran it's own maritime operations thing and I'm pretty sure that's probably where you'd find most seals.
I served in SOG's cross border operations (Op-35) from May of 1968 till December 1969. During that time I only met one army ranger who was assigned. All the rest were from Special Forces. I never saw or heard of anyone from Marine Recon in Op-35. I have no idea why any Force Recon Marine who want to be in SOG, but their does seem to be a big fascination with the idea.
I like the new video format….but did you take down the one with the titan quote?
Love it ✌️
would love to read the book, but where I live in Thailand, Amazon doesnt deliver.
Download the Kindle App and read it on your phone or laptop
smedley butlers words echo in my head as I watch this

I'm sorry....Baghdad, Kabul and Dubai....
Just a suggestion: using ai generated content in your thumbnail makes it look low quality. it makes it blend in with all the bot channels that just pump out garbage so handmade thumbnails with real photos and graphics always have much better presentation
True
I took your advice. See what you think. Thanks for the tip.
@@DawsonsWar Looks much better - thanks for taking viewer input
@@DawsonsWarlooks really good 👍 it's why I watched the video
I agree. i stay away from channels with AI content. its low effort and always looks like shit.

The West's institutions were long ago co-opted by Marxists, hence the Vietnam War cover-up of PLA soldiers masquerading as North Vietnam Army during the war, comprising approximately 50% of North Vietnam regiments. Now, let's push back the timing of the Marxist co-option...
(1) The World War I Allies conspire to not mine the Danish Straits, such mining allowing the Allies to control the Baltic Sea, which means the British and Russian navies can hook up, allowing troop landings all across the Baltic coastlines, resulting in Germany being knocked out of the war before the war begins; the mining of the Danish Straits checkmates Germany. However, Germany is allowed to mine the Danish Straits, knowing their critical importance to her entry into the looming war. Germany also bullies Denmark into placing mines in the straits. Once Germany moves on the straits, Britain and Russia conspire to not use their minesweepers to remove the mines!
Why isn't this in our history books?
Why didn't the press of the day sound the alarm about the critical importance of controlling the Danish Straits?
Where were the calls for inquiries into the Danish Straits fiasco that allowed World War I to take place?
(2) The World War I Allies conspired to not deploy the 50,000 strong Czech Legion to oust Lenin & Bolsheviks in Saint Petersburg. The Check Legion was encamped southeast of Kiev, 600 miles south of Saint Petersburg, but instead of sending the legion 600 miles north to destroy Lenin & Bolsheviks, the Allies send the legion 6,000 miles across Russia to Vladivostok for evacuation, thereby allowing the redeployment of one-million German soldiers from the Russian Eastern Front to the Western Front!
Why would the Allies want Russia out of the war, knowing they would now probably lose the war with the arrival on the Western Front of one-million German soldiers?
Who told the Bolshevik Central Committee that it was safe to go ahead with the Kerensky coup, allaying their fears that the Allies had no intention of easily destroying the Bolsheviks?
Why didn't the press call for inquiries into the Czech Legion fiasco?
Let's take a look at more recent history...
"The basic weapon in the Soviet political armoury is the KGB with its 5 or 6 million secret agents inside the USSR. Together, the Party and the KGB have fabricated controlled political opposition in the main cities of the USSR and in the national Republics. Together they have chosen and trained the organisers, leaders and activists of the new 'democratic', 'non-Communist', 'nationalist' and 'independent' organisations which are mushrooming under the Soviet 'multi-Party system'. Even non-democratic groups like the anti-Semitic 'Pamyat' movement are creatures of the regime. Gorbachev is not the creator of a true multi-Party system: he is not a Soviet Stolypin intent on saving Russia through capitalism.” - KGB defector Major Anatoliy Golitsyn, ‘The Perestroika Deception‘, September-November 1990, p. 123.
...and...
"Official and unofficial Soviet statements have referred to resignations from the Party, to an overall loss in its membership and even to the possibility of its long-term disintegration. The New York Times of 4 November 1990, quoting the Central Committee paper ‘Glasnost’, gives a decline in membership of from over 19 million to 17.7 million. A more reliable figure can be derived from the representation at the Party’s 1990 Congress. This was attended by 4,700 delegates each representing 5,000 Party members - indicating a total membership of 23.5 million, a figure consistent with the increase in the strength of the Central Committee from over 300 to 412 members.” -- The Perestroika Deception, KGB Major Anatoliy Golitsyn, (1995), pp. 122-123.

Which is why we see this today...
The hammer & sickle logo is still attached to Aeroflot aircraft! Leningrad Oblast is still called Leningrad Oblast! Engels city is still called Engels! The Russian military's official newspaper is still called RED STAR (1924-2024), where the four Soviet era awards the newspaper won are still on the masthead...
(1) Order of the October Revolution
(2) Order of Lenin
(3) Order of the Red Banner
(4) Order of Victory
The Russian Orthodox Church was never purged of its KGB clergy! All 6,000 monuments of Lenin remain standing throughout Russia, zero being destroyed! Lenin's Tomb still resides at Red Square! The State Seal of the USSR remains atop the Duma building, where at night it's illuminated for clear viewing by pedestrians/motorists!
I can assure you no on read this. 😂😂😂
a friend gave me a couple hundred dollars to send home to his wife. she sent him money in the mail then he sold the us money to the viets then he paid for me and others to send money to his wife back in the usa thru the free mail service
Dude, when you are making these videos are you sure you are talking about Vietnam - or are you taking about Iraq and Afghanistan?
I'm sure not much has changed.
War. War never changes
After I came back from Iraq in 03 I went to 101st Division staff duty The ROAD program. Part of my duties was to read the MP blotter report . One morning I read a special forces A team was robbed of their money out of a safe by grunts from the 101st they were sharing a FOB . So the A team didn't want to admit that they had been robbed by a bunch of grunts . So they went into business selling stolen items cars people homes lumber and what not and got caught there were E-8s E-7,s and officers on the blotter. So I laughing briefed the Div CSM he got pissed and said he would call the SOCOM CSM . Life comes at you fast .
Same shit happened when I was back from Afghanistan '10. Bunch of recon cats were taking gear and selling it off base.
What happened to them?
@@rudolphguarnacci197 Not sure I retired from the military. They kept that incident silent.

Swept under the rug.
crazy thank you for sharing that!!
it happens a lot
you can listen about devgru and their "concrete purchases" for "construction projects." hell a green beret got murdered in his bed over trying todo the right thing about it. SSgt Logan Melgar died over navy and marine recon covering this up. They'll claim it was hazing in more than one article. He was blackmailed and assaulted in bed. look for the articles that include his wife's testimony. He kept a record of events and emailed his wife the night before he was assaulted, sexually assaulted, recorded, and killed in his own cot.
